Every year I struggle to find the perfect gift for certain family members. I. They really don’t need much, and I can only give so many Red Sox mugs and t-shirts. For these folks, I’ve often have given tickets or gift cards to local events.. One year I sent my aunt and sister-in-law some Cape Cod chocolate from a local favorite in Orleans, The Chocolate Sparrow…who deliver!
Perhaps someone you know who will appreciate one of these Cape Cod gifts and will look forward to being back on the Cape in 2019.
1. The gift of music Are you familiar with the Payomet Performing Arts Center in Truro? We’ve seen two summer concerts here, and the setting is unbeatable. Outdoor seating, small intimate venue, great acoustics. Or, treat someone to the Cape Cod Symphony with the charming and entertaining conductor Jung-Ho Pak, who leads the symphony in performing incredible medleys of music ranging from classical to Broadway to contemporary rock and roll. I love watching this delightful man introduce a new, younger generation to the symphony.
2. The gift of chocolate Fudge, coffees, gift cards. You could ship some goodies or invite someone to join you for a future cup of coffee at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow. Another delicious option is the Cape Cod Chocolatier in Barnstable. Holy truffles!
3. The gift of theater The Cape is rich with local theater.. We have been to productions at The Academy Playhouse in Orleans where you can buy a membership, take classes or see shows year round. Another fun place to see a show, especially for children, is The Harwich Junior Theatre Company which is offering Freaky Friday, Tuck Everlasting and Pippin in 2019. Finally, Cape Rep Theatre in Brewster is an impressive place to see shows all year long. In the summer, they also offer outdoor performances for children. We recently saw an excellent performance of Shakespeare in Love. All theaters offer gift cards!
Why not present your loved one with an excuse to visit the Cape and enjoy some local flavor? A gift certificate to a Cape or Islands restaurant is also a popular way to invite someone to enjoy a future date at their happy place.
