Keeping Cool on the Cape

Jennie Sparrow | 7/20/2018

The dog days of summer are here, and that means plenty of sun and heat! Oh, what to do?! This is a great problem to have, as the Cape offers many a remedy when it comes to surviving (and enjoying) hot summer days!

Set to the sea!

Be it renting a boat for the day, going on a whale watch, or taking a seal cruise, an adventure on the open water will cool everyone down for sure! Our crew took their first seal cruise recently. Here’s a clip of the fun time we had . . .

More about water cruises!

Head to the beach!

The Cape and Islands offer many different types of beaches! There are the exciting, expansive, ocean beaches with pounding surf, the calmer waters of the bay offering tidepools just waiting for exploration, and tranquil lakes and ponds ready for kayaks, standup paddleboards, rowboats and swimming!

Enjoy a cold one!

Ahh, there’s nothing better than a succulent lobster roll accompanied by an ice cold one as you sit outside on the deck and enjoy the water views.

From the bridge to the tip of the Cape and the Islands in between, you can bet you’ll find several eating establishments with outdoor seating! Catch a cool ocean breeze as you dine and cool off with local seafood and spirits! And be sure not to forget the other “cold ones”—ice cream! There are many ice cream shops in the area—enough to try a different one every day of the week. Everything from hard to soft serve, milkshake to shaved ice—there’s nothing sweeter than following a yummy Cape Cod meal with an icy treat!
