Nantucket Book Festival, June 16-18
The sixth annual Nantucket Book Festival will feature 38 internationally renowned authors, plus 40 of our own local writers. With most of the 50+ programs free to the public, it's the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in all things literary! Authors include Alice Hoffman, Francine Mathews, Robert Pinsky, Diane Rehm, Ruth Reichl and Bernie Swain, as well as local luminaries Nathaniel Philbrick, Rob Cocuzzo, Nancy Thayer and Jim Sulzer. Events include lectures at various venues, a local authors' tent, book signings, Opening Night Celebration, and Author Dinner.
Nantucket Film Festival, June 21-26, 2017
Nantucket Film Festival has evolved from a small scale "home grown" event into one of the premiere destination film festivals in the world.
NFF attracts movie buffs from all corners of the globe to preview screenings, signature programs, special presentations, shorts, and a beach screening this year it will be "La Bamba" to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary. The Nantucket Film Festival brings together locals and luminaries alike, promoting awareness and appreciation of the screenwriter's signature craft.
July 4th Celebration
A beloved island tradition, the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence at the historic Unitarian Meeting House kicks off our annual celebration of the "Fourth." Children are invited to sign a replica of the Declaration, and have the opportunity to ring in the holiday with the venerable Portuguese bell, circa 1815. Main Street Festivities begin at 10AM, including a Dunk Tank, Watermelon Eating Contests, Face Painting, Pie-Eating Contest, and the eagerly anticipated Water Fight!
Traditional games—tug-o-war, 3-legged race, sack race, and more—at Children's Beach round out this day of family fun. Please note fireworks will be held July 3rd, rain date July 5th!
Nantucket Yoga Festival, July 7 - 9, 2017
The Nantucket Yoga Festival is a community orientated celebration that brings together the very best world class yoga instructors, wellness experts and healthy living guides in a celebration of the spirit of the island. By coming together to explore ways to find a happier, healthier more peaceful way of living we can begin to affect positive change in our community and ultimately in the world around us.
Nantucket Comedy Festival, July 12 -15, 2017
Founded in 2007, the Nantucket Comedy Festival is an annual summer event that brings top comedic talent to Nantucket Island as the major fundraiser for Stand Up & Learn, an island-based, year-round comedy education program serving Nantucket's children. The Nantucket Comedy Festival envisions Nantucket as a community connected by laughter. Please join us for the 2017 Festival at the Nantucket Dreamland July 12th–15th.
Small Friends Arts & Artisans Show, July 13 – 16, 2017
The Nantucket Art & Artisan show is a celebration of all things handmade! Featuring over 65 local and nationally recognized artisans Highlighting both traditional and modern day techniques- pottery, glass, textiles, folk art, photography, jewelry, sculpture, furniture and more This collaborative event is the leading fundraiser for Small Friends on Nantucket. The show begins with an opening party on Thursday evening July 13th, and continues through Sunday, July 16th. We are happy to announce a new location this year- The Nantucket Boys and Girls Club.
Nantucket Garden Festival, July 18-20, 2017
The 8th Annual Nantucket Garden Festival highlights the unique and beautiful garden ecosystems on Nantucket and focuses on the importance of sustainability, conservation and gardening ethics for the long-term health of the island. Scheduled for July 18th-20th, the festival celebrates gardening through creative workshops, exquisite garden tours, children's workshops, family activities and an opening night party. Boston Pops on Nantucket, August 12, 2017
The Beach Boys will join conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra for a night of music, dancing and fireworks at one of Nantucket’s best beaches. The annual concert is the largest single fundraiser for Nantucket Cottage Hospital that brings thousands of people together at Jetties Beach for an unforgettable night of entertainment. All funds generated during the event stay on Nantucket to sustain the hospital’s year-round commitment to the health and well being of the island community.
