Description

Description

Spend a relaxing week at this charming cottage in the town of Eastham, home of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Our location is private, set back from the main road, with tall trees surrounding the yard - ideal for children. Still, you're close to everything. Minutes to the bay beaches or the open ocean - your choice. Or opt for fresh water swimming in beautiful Depot Pond, a quick walk across the street, with a natural beach - very private and safe for kids. The Cape Cod rail trail is minutes away, with bike shop rentals nearby. Also in the neighborhood - a fully stocked convenience store with a liquor store attached, and the extensive Eastham library for books, DVD's and a cool summer break.

The house has 3 bedrooms, and sleeps 4 comfortably. A small bedroom with a twin bed is up front, near the kitchen. The two back bedrooms go off a common hallway, and though both have doors, it's necessary to pass through one to get to the other - usually not a problem for families. There's a fully outfitted kitchen and a comfortable living room with internet, HDTV, and a DVD player (get DVDs at the library!) Enjoy the private back deck, ideal for summer meals, or the oversized picnic table in the yard right outside the kitchen door.

Great little house - perfectly situated

The house really couldn't be in a better location - walking distance to a lovely pond, easy biking to both the ocean and the bay, and easy drives down to Orleans and Chatham and up to Wellfleet and P'town. In one week we were able to take advantage of all of this and more.

The house is small, but lovely and well-maintained.

Kris was a wonderful host, providing plenty of information at the outset, as well as being flexible when weather reports indicated that Hurricane Henri might hit the cape hard (fortunately, it didn't).

It all made for a wonderful and relaxing trip.

    Back to Old Cape Cod

Thank you for a wonderful three weeks! The house is perfectly located--close to both First Encounter Beach and fresh water kettle ponds, and we enjoyed both. After being confined, due to the pandemic, it was a real joy to be on the Cape!

Although close to everything, there was a good feeling of privacy while at the house. We enjoyed morning coffee on the deck and several barbecues in the back yard, as well as several visits of a mama turkey and her chick. The proximity to both the library and Windmill Green was a plus, as was easy access to Rte. 6, the National Seashore, and several good restaurants.

Thanks again! We are looking forward to next year.

We had a great week at your house. It provided us with a good base to enjoy the wonderful outdoors, convenient to everything we love to do - bike, swim, beachcomb, enjoy the stars and beautiful sunsets and lots of good eats.
Hopefully we can return again next summer.

My husband and I were at your house for the week with our young grandson. We just loved the house and the location – near the bike path, and so private. As a former children's librarian I really enjoyed visiting the new Eastham library right in the neighborhood. We also packed a picnic lunch on Monday evening and took it down to the windmill green to listen to the band concert. Then one morning my husband took our grandson up to the windmill and they got a tour – that was a big hit. So right in this area we had three adventures! Today it's time to go, and our grandson is crying because he doesn't want to leave.

Thank you! We had a wonderful week in Eastham. Your house brought back fond memories of my grandparents' place, which had a similar interior style. Childhood experiences certainly have a way of shaping our lives. Even though I live all the way over in Sweden, returning to the Cape, where I used to go fishing with my father in Wellfleet, still has a powerful pull on me to this day.

My brother and I co-own the Eastham house which we inherited from our parents - lucky us! We love spending time there, so we do the summer rentals to raise funds to hang onto the place. We like to think that we are sharing a little bit of our paradise with young families. All of our rental guests have been very happy and seem to love the cottage as much as we do.

What is special about this property?
Even though the cottage is close to everything - the freshwater pond, the windmill, beaches, the library and the National Seashore, it is set back from the road and very private. At night things get very quiet. The back deck is a peaceful spot in the evening with a book and a drink, facing the back yard, watching for an evening cardinal or a Cape Cod bunny.

What is special about your town?
We are right near the rail trail - just close enough. It's not in our back yard, but you can be on it in about 2 minutes. The National Seashore headquarters in Eastham is a great place to visit. Our favorite movie is ''The Sands of Time.'' Fort Hill is my favorite place to walk. If you have an hour, head to Fort Hill. And the freshwater pond across the street is an inviting swimming hole.
