Cape Cod has drawn my family to its shores for many years. I fell in love with the Cape's beautiful beaches, sandy lanes, flowering gardens & wooded back roads as a teenager. My brother has lived here on and off for 35 years. My cousins have a house here. After years of visiting & vacationing on Cape finally, in 2005, I had the great good fortune to purchase my own cottage. It was the best decision I ever made! We are often asked why this house is named Kilbarry. My grandparents on both sides hailed from Ireland. I was lucky to grow up with them in my life and was weaned on stories of the “Old Country”. My maternal grandfather’s stories centered around the escapades he, his three brothers and their little dog Fly had on the family farm in County Cork. The farm, Kilbarry, remains in my mother’s family today. Over the years it has become synonymous in our family with places that are a “little slice of heaven”. In Ireland, Kilbarry Farm was only 15 miles from the shore. My grandfather had the Irishman’s love of the sea. According to my mother “Every year of his life, that he was able, he made his annual pilgrimage to the sea ...he breathed in the sea air, bathed in the ocean & returned renewed.” With this in mind, when I acquired my cottage, just a stone’s throw from Cape Cod Bay, there was only one name that it could possibly have, Kilbarry by the Bay. We hope you enjoy our ''little slice of heaven'' here near Cape Cod Bay.

What is special about this property?
A cottage at the beach or a cabin in the woods? Both are wonderful places for a holiday retreat. At Kilbarry by the Bay you don't have to choose one or the other because you will find that our beach cottage is also nestled in the woods. The quiet secluded cottage with its large yard and wooded property is perfect for enjoying the outdoor beauty of the Cape. There is plenty of deck and yard furniture, a hammock, lots of outdoor games, bikes, beach chairs and beach toys available for use by our guests. The large outside shower is heavenly. The house has two bedrooms and a full bath on each floor making it perfect for an extended family or two families travelling together. We love the open plan layout, beamed ceilings and skylights that make the house open and full of light. The house is fully heated and winterized and with its stone fireplace is also a great for fall/winter getaway.

What is special about your town?
Eastham is the gateway to the National Seashore. Eastham has beautiful ocean and bay beaches as well as a freshwater lake (pond) which is great for swimming when the tide is out. Sunset over Cape Cod bay is unparalleled. Lobster and clam shacks, mini golf, fishing, boating and plenty of hiking trails are there for your enjoyment. Cape Cod is home to the famous Cape Cod summer baseball league. Summer stock theater, art shows, galleries and music are easily accessible. Picturesque shops, crafts and antiques are dotted throughout the Cape. History abounds with museums and monuments to America's early settlers.
