Our stay here - for the second summer running - was darn near perfect. This is a beautiful spot, well-situated near beaches and ponds, and wonderfully appointed with lovely furnishings and a secluded pool for hours of private relaxation. Louise is a gracious and efficient host. Recommend highly! And look forward to returning!

Our family of four plus dog stayed for a week. It was simply a lovely spot and vacation. The cottage was very comfortable with lots of charm. The owner left a delicious pie which was thoughtful. The location was great - we could easily walk and bike to bay side beaches. Everything for the beach was provided which is convenient - chairs, umbrellas, coolers, even a cart. There was also a pond with trails walking distance which was a daily trip with the dog to swim. What makes the property spectacular is the outdoor space - the pool is nestled in beautiful landscaping with comfortable seating and a fire table. I don't think the listing pictures do it justice- it's beautiful.

louise was a fantastic host and welcomed us upon arrival. the pictures match exactly with the experience, and in fact the property is even more cute than the images suggest. walk to beach is 10 mins (2mins on the busy road then ~8mins on the small side road), route 6 with shops/restaurants is 5min drive, and the great hamlets like wellfleet, orleans, and dennis are 10-20min drive. but its best to explore the local ponds and trails, and Louise will be more than happy to show you the way (or guide you, if you ask!) very relaxing property, would definitely return. thank you so much!

Not our first trip to the Cape, but easily the best. The cottage is perfect- inviting and homey. The yard is terrific- private and well-maintained. The saltwater pool is ideal for when you can't make it to- or simply don't feel like- the beach. But the location, wow. Tough to overemphasize how perfect it is. Just a short walk from conservation lands and an amazing trail system that loops around nearby ponds, and only a bit further to two beautiful bayside beaches. We spent mornings at the beach, lazy afternoons by the pool, and evenings back at the beach to watch the sunset. Everything, including restaurants and stores, was close enough that we never felt rushed or stuck.

Louise was a gracious host, taking us on a tour of the grounds as well as a short walk to introduce us to the nearby trails. She also checked in during the week to see how we were doing and if there was anything she could help with.

Truly an amazing stay in every way- highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time at the Alewife cottage. The location is perfect for both the bay and ocean beaches and coming home to a beautiful pool finishes off a Cape day perfectly. The pool is even better than the pictures show with complete privacy. The house is as comfortable a rental home that I've ever stayed at. All of the little touches make a huge difference as you feel like you're in your own home. Louise makes sure that the pantry has the little things you don't want buy when on vacation and is available for anything you might need. The kitchen is stocked with high quality plates, glasses, cookware etc. which is a really nice touch. Wifi and all the streaming services make sure the kids are entertained when done with the pool. Just a few minutes from both Orleans and Wellfleet so close to tons of restaurants (Macs Shack was our favorite). We'll remember this vacation for many years.

We once again counted our blessings on staying at Louise and Tom's wonderful cottage. The accommodations are warm and comforting. The cottage has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The location is perfect to enjoy the beaches or to head off to the many attractions in the area. We would be off exploring and come home to peace and relaxation. We swam in their lovely pool and had a cookout for the whole family. The cottage is above and beyond most of what you will find on the Cape but what truly makes this rental extraordinary are Louise and Tom. Not only have they provided a top notch rental but they avail themselves and their extensive knowledge of the Cape to enhance your stay. Truly a remarkable find and one you will be happy you found!

This is our second year in a row staying at this cottage. We absolutely love the home, the pool, the design, and how Louise goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, special, and taken care of. The cottage is so comfortable, and we really appreciated the A/C on hot days. It's well stocked, and there's really thoughtful touches beyond your typical rental such as hampers and bedroom closet organizers that make a difference. Everything throughout our stay felt welcoming and warm and inviting and made just for us. Once you leave the property, we were regulars each day for the epic low tides at First Encounter Beach, great for human walking, dog walking, sunsets. We love Mac's Shack in Wellfleet for seafood. And the pizza at Cshore is great! Thanks Louise for another wonderful stay, we can't wait to come back again.

We had an excellent stay and our host, Louise, was accommodating. The property is clean and lovely, and the pool is relaxing. The property is beautifully landscaped and very private. We want to go back next year.

If you can believe it, it's nicer than the pictures. And the pictures are beautiful! The cottage is clean, modern, and very tastefully appointed. Louise and Tom are great hosts, and incredibly responsive. Tom went above and beyond twice while we were there, once to provide a coffee grinder (which I really didn't expect) and once to help us out when we locked ourselves out. I'm saving the best for last, because the pool is amazing.

We have never vacationed at the cape, but decided to give it a try this summer and have fallen in love! Our trip to Eastham was amazing, and Louise and her home were part of what what made it perfect.

Louis is a gracious host. She met us upon arrival to walk us though the home and had dinner waiting. She made herself available the rest of the time as we needed for questions and tips. She also sent a list of excellent recommendations in advance.

The home is beautiful and clean, and is stocked with everything you will need, inside and out. I was especially amazed by all the outdoor gear - towels, beach chairs, rafts, coolers and much more.

The "cottage" is perfectly located, just a short distance to beaches (first encounter was our favorite), ponds, rail trail, eating establishments, etc.

The gorgeous salt water pool, nestled in the beautiful landscape, was the cherry on top. We went from beach to pool throughout the day.

My teenage boys (15 and 19) picking activities over electronics is a testament to all this place has to offer. I savored every minute with them (+ my daughter), laughing and having fun. I left today a bit sad to go but with so many memories. Thank you Louis, we will definitely be back!

Perfect way to celebrate retirement and 60!!

Our first reaction to the cottage was WOW this is much cuter than the pictures show. That's always a good start to any rental :-).

Louise met us and gave us a quick tour and left us with a delicious dinner to kick off our stay. The cottage has all of the amenities you need inside as well as everything you need for the beach and pool.

We quickly settled into a daily routine of morning and sunset walks to the bay beach, days at the National Seashore beaches and then back to the beautiful pool.
Life cannot get better than that!!

Louise and Tom were available for questions but were never intrusive. Although the listing states shared pool, Louise and Tom did not use the pool. Even so we invited them to jump in anytime. Great Hosts.

The cottage is great, the pool area gorgeous, the outside shower is a must.
I want to make quick mention of the frittata and asparagus treat Louise brought to us poolside the first evening... it was a delicious/fabulous surprise. Those little special touches make all the difference and make folks want to come back. Thank you

We were a little hesitant to book a Cape vacation in mid-June but the weather was fantastic! Even better was the Alewife Cottage. The kids loved the pool (no sharks in those waters!) and were content spending the day there. Louise is the perfect host- she provided great restaurant recommendations and there was nothing missing in the cottage. She also gave us the name of a great dog walker who took our dog out for a walk while we were on a fishing charter. Great place to stay and close to beaches!

Vacations are special and when you stay at Louise and Tom's you will have an amazing retreat to make great memories. No detail has been overlooked. The home is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds are very comfortable and relaxing.
The pool and outdoor shower are a favorite with the family. The gardens and grounds make you feel that you are in a private retreat.
The location can't be beat, you are close to so many different activities and restaurants. We have enjoyed our vacations here very much and look forward to returning.

Took the family down for a long weekend this October and had an amazing stay! Louise's home had a beautiful energy to it and felt comfortable and cozy. The pool was warm (even in October!) and offered a quiet getaway. Inside was immaculate and decorated with amazing artistic taste. Louise was so kind and attentive during our stay. Would definitely visit again!

We stayed at Alewife Cottage for 2 weeks in mid September and had a wonderful time. Louise and Tom are gracious hosts who were very attentive to every detail. The cottage was beautiful-lovely inside and the landscaping was just gorgeous. The pool was fabulous. The hosts do visit the pool on occasion during the off season but this did not impact our stay and enjoyment whatsoever.

Privacy and comfort is their utmost concern and they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. We highly recommend Alewife Cottage!

This was our first stay at this newly renovated cottage in Eastham and we plan to return to this idyllic setting ASAP. Louise is a gracious host and she was both accessible and invisible during our stay, allowing us privacy and solitude, while also providing insight into special locations of interest that she intuited we would enjoy.

We corresponded prior to our stay and eagerly observed the completion of the saltwater swimming pool via email. This is a true gem of the property, it is surrounded by a natural barrier of carefully placed trees and plantings that result in creating a peaceful oasis, no sign of neighbors or other intrusions. It's a pleasure to use the pool and the heated outdoor shower in this surprisingly private garden setting. The fencing and pathways are bright and clean, everything is in its place, and the peaceful surroundings are perfect for a quiet post-beach afternoon of reading on one of the many cushy lounge chairs.

Every amenity you can imagine is here.
A outdoor propane fire, grill, fridge with crushed ice dispenser, etc… all within walking distance of First Encounter Beach, Cole Beach, and Wiley Park Beach on Great Pond, accessible by walking a beautiful wooded path all from the front door of Alewife Cottage. Given the pandemic situation during our stay, we very much appreciated and enjoyed the kitchen and indoor/outdoor dining areas and cooked nearly all of our meals while we were there.

The beds are very comfortable. So much so that we made a point of noting the type of mattresses on the beds. Comfy! At night, the beautiful pool is lit with a turquoise glow, illuminating the back yard and making a just-before-bed dip a luxurious decadence.  Cannot wait to return!

This is a great place! The house itself has a well-equipped kitchen, the beds are comfortable, and there's lots of light. The outside setting is fabulous. We loved using the heated salt water pool, the spacious outdoor shower, the generous towels, and the fire pit for nighttime conversations. Louise is a considerate host and attentive to guests, We would definitely return!

We spent a week at this lovely cottage. It is so well appointed - Louise has thought of everything - even beach towels and chairs available for guests to use! And, she is so thoughtful - offered to pick up take-out for us since we got caught in traffic!

The house feels bigger than it is, thanks to the high ceilings and open living area. It is very comfortable and clean. The kitchen had everything we needed - beautiful appliances. The outdoor space is superb...the covered area off the kitchen to store things out of the weather, the deck and that pool!! We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and seating around it. The fire table was great - nice to sit out at night and enjoy a cocktail.

Louse & Tom were so helpful and responsive to our questions. We were sad to leave, and hope to be able to return there, perhaps in the fall and hopefully next summer. Thank you Louise & Tom!!

My wife and I spent a lovely week here. Everything was just as promised. The house is extremely comfortable and beautifully appointed. The outdoor amenities are truly exceptional -- pool, outdoor shower, fire pit, grill, outdoor dining table, and lounge chairs. We also appreciated the reliable wifi, washer and dryer, and well designed kitchen. Highly recommended.

Often a home doesn't quite live up to the pics, but in this case, the pics don't do justice to this wonderful cottage, yard, and pool.

The cottage strikes a great balance between great design while being very comfortable and feeling lived in. The back deck is a lovely place for morning coffee. The POOL, wowza. We were blown away by how beautiful it was, the landscaping, everything. It was a million degrees the week we were there and the pool made all the difference.

Sunset beaches just down the road were amazing. And our dog LOVED daily walks over to Wiley Park (just a few hundred feet down the road from the cottage you can enter paths). She loved hiking, playing with other dogs in the clearing "dog meet up" spot, and splashing around in the water (so rare to find dog friendly places in the summer in the water!).

Louise made sure we were happy, comfortable, and well taken care of (and even gave us a peek at the main house next door--also gorgeous if you need more space!).

Overall, we'd be back in a heartbeat. Thanks for making our week so special.

We had a truly wonderful month-long stay at Alewife Cottage. Louise was very communicative, helpful, and incredibly thoughtful throughout our visit.

The cottage is very comfortable, beautifully decorated, has a great layout - with so many thoughtful touches that made our stay a joy. The kitchen is terrific, and the open ceiling/skylights make the main living space bright and cheerful. We really enjoyed the plantings and animal/bird-watching on the property. The pool was a most welcome relief on the few really hot days.

The easy walking distance to beaches (and sunsets!) at Cole Rd or First Encounter are a real treat! The owners are warm and friendly, and show that they sincerely care about their guests' comfort. It was a lovely retreat from noisy city life. The owners have created a delightful and relaxing atmosphere, we will be back for sure.

I spent a lovely two weeks at Alewife Cottage with my dog.  We were both welcomed quite warmly, and the owners were very attentive to any needs that arose during my stay.  The cottage itself is immaculate and just beautiful; it's hard for pictures to do justice to the soaring ceiling in the main living area and the abundance of natural light. The kitchen is well stocked and there is ample everything you can think of, including linens, pillows, and towels for muddy paws after a fun time at the beach.  The wifi allowed for smooth video calls and the smart TV was great too. In general the space is thoughtfully designed and tastefully decorated.  Not your typical vacation rental.

The proximity to two beaches and a pond/hiking trail couldn't be beat, and there was much to explore in the area.  As a busy professional I was looking for a peaceful place to take a break. The cottage itself, the beauty of the surroundings and the kindness of Louise and Tom made that a reality.  Plus, as everyone's been saying...the beds were incredibly comfortable! Will definitely be back.

I recently wrapped up a 2-month stay at Alewife Cottage while my house was under renovation. It was wonderful to have this full-amenity home as a retreat during that process. It worked great for me, as a work-from-home professional.

And its close proximity to Cape Cod Bay and oceanside beaches - along with the wooded trails of Wiley Pond - meant many options for walks with my welcomed dog.

While Louise's primary residence is next door, there's plenty of privacy, with a stockade fence as a separation. And the open-plan design with fully equipped kitchen and large, flat-screen TV helped make the stay feel like a real vacation. Also, as others have said - great bed!

I just returned from a lovely week in this home. The hosts were responsive and easy to work with and the home was a perfect escape. Amazing kitchen, bed, and location. Highly recommend.

I spent a long weekend here with my dogs and could not have asked for a more comfortable, relaxed lodging. From the well-equipped kitchen and thoughtfully-appointed living room to the excellent mattresses (both human and canine) and ideal location - a short walk to bay, trails, and ponds - Louise's cottage was perfect. I look forward to returning.

My husband and I stayed here for Thanksgiving and it was a perfect cozy little cottage for the 2 of us. Louise went out of her way to let us check in early and accommodate our travel plans as well as offer up hikes, trails, and activities near by. The cottage has a great updated kitchen, perfect to make meals at home. Given the cold weather we didn't spend much time on the outdoor deck but I can image it's a great space to unwind on summer afternoons and evenings. I rarely have positive reviews for beds but the mattresses, pillows, and bedding in the cottage were incredible - very comfortable. We didn't need the 2nd bedroom as there were just 2 of us but it would be plenty of space for a second couple. The dining area and living room was spacious and great for watching TV/movies - we spent the week working remotely and Wifi was no problem.

You can tell Louise has put a-lot of thought into making this cottage very livable and comfortable for her guests. The neighborhood is quiet and First Encounter Beach is less than a 5 minute walk away. It's also about a mile down the street from the Eastham Superette if you need to walk and grab coffee, sandwiches or any last minute grocery items. We will certainly be back to stay - cannot recommend the cottage enough!

I spent five weeks in this lovely cottage this Fall - what a perfect experience. It was serene, well equipped, beautifully decorated, and a very short distance to the Bay - First Encounter Beach. I was so happy to be able to bring my puppy, enjoy autumn on the Upper Cape and greatly enjoyed the hospitality of owners, Louise and Tom. I will be back!

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful cottage for 2 weeks and had a terrific time! The cottage was so tastefully decorated and designed perfectly for maximum use of the space. As the pandemic was still foremost in our thoughts, this place was well suited for a beautiful change of scenery and safe harbor. We cooked many meals utilizing the great kitchen amenities!

We brought our dog with us and the dog bed provided by the owner was an added plus.

Most mornings we took the short walk to first encounter beach or cook's beach with the dog (permitted after labor day) and thoroughly enjoyed the time. The proximity to the bike path was also fantastic, less than a mile away and an easy ride on the path in both directions! Our favorite restaurants were nearby and provided curbside pick up and the Eastham Superette was great to pick up small items needed for dinner. The television was also a nice surprise with all the premium streaming channels for movies and tv shows. The deck was used almost daily and the perfect spot to take an afternoon nap or read. The outdoor shower was nice for beach days and the owner quick to respond to any questions.

We would definitely stay here again, thank you Louise!

We couldn't have asked for a better location or cottage! We thoroughly enjoyed morning coffee on the deck, cooking in the great kitchen, and epic games of Uno in the comfortable living room. We loved being so close to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, walking distance to First Encounter and Herring Brook Beach, and a quick drive to the National Seashore. An unexpected perk was the short walk to the trails of Wiley Park, where we could kayak and swim with our dog. All in all it was a perfect week on the Cape.

We had a delightful stay at Alewife Cottage. It's a lovely cottage in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood. Finishes are high end, and décor is tasteful and well done. The cottage was spotlessly clean. Bedrooms are cozy, beds are extremely comfortable and the back deck is perfect for morning coffee or after-beach barbecues. Central air ensures that the cottage is comfortable (even during a 90+ heat wave!). The cottage is conveniently located within a half-mile of both pond and ocean beaches. Shopping and dining options are nearby as well. The owner is gracious and welcoming, without being intrusive. She even provided a comfy bed for our dog! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return. We recommend without reservation!
