Hi there! My fiancé, Dan, and I have been escaping to the Outer Cape, especially Eastham, ever since we started dating in 2018. What began as weekend getaways quickly turned into a dream of someday having a place of our own here.
After getting engaged in 2023, that dream finally became a reality when we purchased our first home together in Eastham. We both love being creative, old homes, and hands-on projects, so renovating and decorating Salt & Stem Cottage has truly been a labor of love. Outside of my day job, I also grow specialty cut flowers through my small flower farm, Sunset Stems, and many of the natural touches and seasonal details throughout the cottage are inspired by life in the garden.
We now call Eastham home and live right next door, so we're always happy to help with local recommendations or anything you might need during your stay, while giving guests plenty of space to enjoy their vacation. After spending years exploring the Outer Cape, we'd love to share our favorite beaches, walking trails, restaurants, and hidden gems.
We hope you love this special corner of Cape Cod as much as we do.
What is special about this property?
What I love most about Salt & Stem Cottage is that it feels like the kind of place that invites you to slow down. Life gets so busy, and it's not always easy to carve out time to reconnect with the things that help us recharge. Surrounded by nature, the cottage is close to beaches, the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and all of the best parts of the outer Cape, while still feeling peaceful and tucked away after a day of exploring.
We designed the house to feel collected rather than decorated, with each room drawing inspiration from the natural beauty and history of the Outer Cape. Many of the details were sourced locally or made by hand, and the space reflects the things we love most about living here: the gardens, the dunes, the sea, and the slower pace of Cape life.
Whether you're spending the morning biking to the beach, rinsing off in the outdoor shower after a swim, cooking dinner together in the kitchen, or ending the evening around the fire pit under the stars, we hope the cottage feels less like a rental and more like your own little Cape getaway.
What is special about your town?
One of the things we love most about Eastham is that it truly puts you in the middle of everything that makes the Outer Cape special. You can spend the morning walking the bay flats at low tide, the afternoon swimming at one of the National Seashore beaches, and the evening watching the sunset over Cape Cod Bay, all without spending much time in the car.
Salt & Stem Cottage is less than 3/4 of a mile from bayside beaches, about 8 minutes from the National Seashore, and just a few miles from the Cape Cod Rail Trail and some of the area's best hiking and biking paths. There are beautiful estuaries nearby for kayaking and paddleboarding, as well as wonderful local restaurants, cafés, farm stands, and galleries to explore.
If you're looking to venture a little farther, Orleans is just 15 minutes away for a day of shopping and strolling, while Provincetown is an easy 30-minute drive for art galleries, incredible dining, whale watches, and a vibrant nightlife scene. Whether you're hoping for adventure or simply a quiet place to unwind, Eastham offers a little bit of everything.
