The property was exactly as advertised: Comfortable furniture in every room...the living area, the queen bedded room, the second bedroom (where my husband took his naps), the kitchen was well equipped, it was easy to heat in the am to get the chill out of the air and the airflow through the windows was delightful on the warmer days. There are plenty of extra blankets/quilts for chilly nights, too. There's a shed below the cottage to store anything extra that might be brought and there are plenty of beach chairs, and two grills in there, as well. Sarah greeted us the first evening but we didn't see her again, allowing her guests their privacy. They live on adjacent land which is not visible to the cottage so it's very private.
The location is ideal in that the Eastham Superette is just down the road, and the Bay side and Atlantic beaches are all minutes away. The dock leads to a shallow, sandy beach area, ideal for small children, but Great Pond also has two public beaches with crystal clear water over sandy bottoms. We were there in September so didn't get into the water this trip. Also, beach parking is free after Labor Day. Due to Covid, we had take-out every night as we're not ready for in-restaurant dining. There were plenty of places to eat inside, though. There is no ambient light at night (a real rare treat for city dwellers) so the stars shone through the trees. I wish we'd heard some owls but no such luck this time. We will definitely book next year at the same time! One (of many) advantage of booking through this website is that there is easy access to the owner to ask any questions and there are no booking fees, either. All in all, an ideal cottage that captures the very essence of Cape Cod.
