Description

Description

Nestled in the desirable Menauhant community, an association of 100 homes with spectacular views of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Sound, you'll have access to private everything - tennis courts, beaches, fishing and boating docks. Private dirt roads make this a safe place for kids to walk freely to beaches, sailing classes, tennis clinics, and community cookouts. (To take full advantage of association amenities requires paying club dues.)

Come home from the beach to take an outdoor (or indoor) shower and share hors d'ouvres on the wrap-around porches, or sit quietly with a book relaxing in Adirondack chairs in the afternoon sun or shade. Enjoy grilled fish you caught in the morning off the docks or jetties. All-day breezes come off the water. A/C keep temps right for sleeping.

The pet-friendly house is a remodeled cottage complete with new kitchen and full amenities. New washer and dryer, dishwasher, WIFI, and Cable.

Menauhant is a 10-minute drive from the docks of the Island Queen, the ferry which leaves for Martha's Vineyard, and 25 minutes from Woods Hole, where passengers and vehicles ferry to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Biking the gorgeous Shining Sea Bike Trail links Falmouth to Woods Hole Village. Falmouth is a great place to play golf, enjoy restaurants, and experience moonlight sailing cruises leaving Falmouth Harbor. No long drives to get to Falmouth from off-Cape as it's just 20 miles from the Bourne and Sagamore bridges. read more show less

    A Perfect Vacation Home

Our family of 7 loved staying at this home, which has wonderful historic charm, as well as modern conveniences. The decks provide peaceful seating from which to observe lovely gardens and birds. The well appointed kitchen met all of our needs, with good quality appliances and all of the equipment we wanted. With a short walk to a private beach, (if you choose to buy a membership to the club), or to Menauhant Beach, this home is very conveniently located, and sits in a community of lovely, traditional homes along dirt roads which are excellent for biking, walking, and running. Also included with club membership are well-maintained clay tennis courts, and a club house that is available for events. Our week at the Gwynne House was a special and fulfilling one for our entire family. The kind owner is very gracious and responded quickly whenever we had a question. show more show less

If you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation, look no further. The Gwynne home is a lovely historic property with all the modern conveniences that you need for a great family vacation. The home has an incredible wrap around porch that you may never leave. The well -appointed kitchen and outdoor grill will allow for memorable meals which can be eaten at the two built-in picnic tables on the porch.

You are a short walk from the private beach which has a swim out dock and gentle waves for little ones. The area has a playground and tennis courts too! If you choose to venture out, the house is located near a local winery, brewery, the Martha's Vineyard ferry and several restaurants.

Lovely Large Traditional Cape Cod Summer Home

Lovely traditional Cape Cod summer home built in 1874 with historic bones and details but all the conveniences you need for modern living near the shore. A great house for extended families as there is plenty of room to come together, as well as the space to find time apart. Two separate decks on either side of the house with picnic tables, perfect for lobsters and clams outside, a wrap around porch for a quiet sit with a book, living room with fireplace, dining room and small separate sitting room. The beach is a short walk away and the outdoor shower was a real treat after a day at the beach.Clean, well maintained, everything in working order, wifi available if you must. Kitchen is fully equipped, with a small island that can seat 8 for breakfast or to gather together to plan the day. Wonderful host family is attentive to all questions and needs. I can’t think of a thing we needed and did not find in a closet, shed or bookshelf. This house is tucked away in a quiet private community away from tourists, even at the busiest time of the year. People in the community we met by chance were gracious and friendly. This home was a pleasure. I wish it was ours to keep, but we will have to settle for a week another time.
A short drive to Falmouth town for restaurants and shops. We tried our hand at Candlestick bowling and tried a few of the restaurants.

Wonderful time in a wonderful place.

The house is spotless, well equipped, modern, but with an unfussy Cape Cod beachy feel. Dining area outdoors on a the back deck was perfect for messy but delicious lobsters. One of the bedrooms has access via a trap door and ladder to the kitchen. You can imagine how much the children loved that. Oh yes, and the outdoor shower was delightful, totally private for the most modest among us, but a great bathing experience in sparkling sunlight or twinkling stars for the adventurous too. Other amenities include a stack of board games and a large collection of Legos just in case you hit a rainy day...which you probably won't need. And of course, minutes from beach, tennis, sailing and biking. show more show less
