Description

Description

This gorgeous private rental sits directly on the Childs River, an estuary that flows to Vineyard Sound. The lower-level apartment is ideal for one or two people and offers its own separate entrance, in-yard parking for one car, and a stone patio overlooking the river.

Bright, uncluttered, and freshly appointed, the apartment has white-painted walls, white ceramic tile floors, and grass woven area rugs. Recessed lighting and table lamps enhance the natural light streaming through four large Andersen gliding windows that face east and overlook the river—perfect for watching the sunrise, spotting boats heading to and from the public boat landing or private marina, or simply relaxing with a book or computer.

The living room includes a comfortable couch, recliner, chairs, a 50” smart TV, and a brick gas-insert fireplace. A counter with bar stools separates the living space from the fully equipped mini-kitchen that contains:
• Refrigerator
• Large and small toaster ovens
• Induction plate
• Air fryer
• Electric frying pan
• Coffee maker & electric kettle
• Pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and a wine rack

Down the hall, a bedroom offers two Twin-XL beds that can be joined to form a king, along with night tables, lamps, a work desk, and recessed lighting. The bathroom features white tile, a full tub/shower, a vanity stocked with personal care items, including a hair dryer. A separate laundry room includes a washer, dryer, drying rack, iron, and ironing board.

Outdoors, enjoy river views from the stone patio with table and chairs. A propane grill and barbecue tools are also provided.

Comfort & Amenities:
• High-speed Wi-Fi
• Two mini-split A/C units (living room & bedroom)
• Baseboard heat + gas fireplace
• Washer/dryer
• Fresh linens, bath & beach towels
• Biweekly housecleaning
• Starter pantry and fridge items
• Garage storage for bikes & beach gear
• Side garden with beach plum trees, perennials, roses, dahlias & herbs

Neighborhood:
Seacoast Shores is a welcoming community with plenty of waterfront access. The local residents’ beach is just a 6-minute walk (or 2-minute drive), and a two mile-long walk brings you to the tip of the peninsula with distant views of Martha’s Vineyard. While the on-site dock is private, renters have access to fifteen neighborhood rights-of-way for river viewing, kayaking, or canoeing. The neighborhood is also excellent for casual biking.

Exploring Falmouth & Beyond:
Falmouth is known for its stunning beaches, scenic bike paths, and lively cultural scene. Nearby highlights include:
• Beaches: Menauhant, Bristol, Falmouth Heights, Surf Drive, Woods Hole, Old Silver, and Wood Neck.
• Ferries to Martha’s Vineyard: Island Queen Ferry and Steamship Authority
• Scenic spots: Nobska Lighthouse with panoramic views and the coastal drive
• Downtown Falmouth: Charming Main Street shops, restaurants, and public picnic spots.
• Mashpee Commons: Just 3 miles away for groceries, dining, ice cream, and shopping.
• Cape Cod excursions: Easily drive to Chatham, Wellfleet, Truro, Provincetown, or Hyannis (with ferries to Nantucket and MV).
For recreation, Falmouth offers golf, tennis, pickleball, hiking, conservation land, movie theaters, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the Marine Biological Lab, art galleries, Highfield Hall, and the Museums on the Green. In summer, enjoy the Farmer's Market and free weekly concerts by the Falmouth Town Band In Marina Park.

The Perfect Cape Escape:
This quiet, private apartment is ideal for remote work, relaxation, or as a home base for Cape Cod adventures. Guests often include scientists, researchers, international visitors, summer baseball fans, and those looking for a relaxing vacation spot—drawn by both the location and the comfort.

    Charming Waterfront Rental
    August 2020

My husband and I booked this charming rental property for our wedding anniversary and loved it! Exquisite gardens, gorgeous river views and a well appointed, immaculate apartment. A true sanctuary in quintessential Cape Cod . Beautiful beaches and terrific restaurants ( that offer outdoor patio seating) close by. To top it off , the host was kind, gracious and highly accommodating. I have booked many rentals on the Cape for the past 20 years and give this rental 5 plus stars!!

Thank you! I am happy that you and your husband had such a positive experience here for your anniversary. You were very considerate visitors, who explored the Cape, enjoyed its amenities, and returned each night to relax and appreciate the quiet beauty here. I only wish that you could have stayed longer. Best of luck to both of you!

I have rented my peaceful summer apartment on the Childs River since 2016. Know that I take pride in keeping it fresh, clean, and welcoming. People who have most enjoyed this spot like nature, the view of the river, quiet times, relaxation, and using the rental as a base to see the rest of beautiful Falmouth, Cape Cod, and the Islands.

What is special about this property?
Besides offering a lovely, natural environment with its location right on the salt water river, it is perfect for other activities. You can transport your bike to our famous ''Sea to Shining Sea'' Bike Path for a scenic ride or walk. Edgewater Drive has little traffic, so an easy ride, walk, or run around the peninsula is invigorating. Maybe, you'd prefer to take an 8-minute walk to our small association beach to take a swim or just plant your towel and watch the boats pass from the Childs River to Eel River. Restaurants, grocery stores, and specialty stores are close. Perhaps, you'd want to drive to some of Cape Cod's special spots: the National Seashore, Provincetown, Main Street in Chatham, Nauset Beach in Orleans, the Cape Cod Canal bike/walking path or public boat rides, the JFK Museum in Hyannis, or the scenic North Side of the Cape Route 6A, stopping for an ice cream along the way. Some guests even drive or take the bust to Boston to experience some of what our great capital city offers.

What is special about your town?
Falmouth is well-known for the Arts, so plan a visit to the Art Center or nearby Cotuit Center for the Arts. Highfield Hall offers entertaining musical and stage performances, as well as art openings. For history buffs, there's the Katherine Lee Bates Home and the Woods Hole Historical Museum. Several movie theaters are in Falmouth or nearby. If you want to take a trip to the Islands, drive to The Steamship Authority, the Island Queen, or the Patriot Two. For golfers, there's the Falmouth Country Club, a public course, and tennis players may play on the public school courts. Nobska Lighthouse offers weekly tours, and Woods Hole has its salt water aquarium. You have your choice of restaurants, since this house sits between Woods Hole and Mashpee Commons. There's Smitty's famous ice cream or Gelfi's chocolates for sweet treats. Falmouth is known for having the most contiguous shoreline of all the Cape Cod towns, so spend a day or two or three checking out each unique beach. The town's libraries usually have an array of special happenings that you can find on their websites. Our local paper, ''The Falmouth Enterprise'', will keep you updated on our town's events. The choice is yours!
