This gorgeous property is directly on the Childs River, which flows to Vineyard Sound. The lower-level in-law apartment, ideal for 1-2 people, has a separate entrance from the main house, a patio on the river, and in-yard parking for one car.
The private home is in an established neighborhood. Its many amenities include high-speed WIFI and cable TV, a mini-split a/c in the living room and another in the bedroom, all utilities, a gas-inset fireplace, baseboard heat, a washer and dryer, fresh bed linens, and bath/beach towels. Some foods will be stocked in the cabinets and fridge when you first arrive. Housecleaners come every other week year-round. The side garden has beach plum trees, perennials, shrubs, roses, dahlias, and herbs.
In the bright, uncluttered apartment, all walls are painted white and all floors have white ceramic tiles. Recessed lighting and table lamps add to the natural light. There are two grass woven rugs and a 5X8 bedroom rug. The front room has four large Andersen gliding windows which overlook the river. Sit in the recliner or chairs enjoy a meal at the table. You can also watch many boats go by, read, write, relax, be entertained by the birds, or use your computer. The mini-kitchen comes equipped with a fridge, large toaster oven, small toaster, an induction plate, air fryer, electric frying pan, coffee maker, an electric tea kettle, and many pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and a wine rack. A counter with two lucite stools separates the kitchen and living room, which has a couch, chairs, TV, and gas-insert brick fireplace, and bookcase. Down the hall, you'll find a white-tiled, full bathroom with a tub and shower. In the vanity, there are personal care products and a hair dryer. Across the hall is a bedroom with two twin-XL beds, which can join to become a king-sized bed. There are two night tables, a work table, three lamps, and recessed lighting. A back section of the apartment contains the laundry room with a washer, dryer, a rack for air drying, and an iron and ironing board. Outdoors, the table and chairs on the stone patio bring you closer to the water and gardens. A propane gas grill and barbecue utensils are provided.
Seacoast Shores is a friendly neighborhood. The local free beach is a 6-minute walk or 2-minute drive from the apartment. If you continue your walk for about another mile, you will reach the end of the peninsula and see Martha's Vineyard in the distance. The dock on the premises is private and inaccessible to renters, however, there are fifteen neighborhood rights-of-way in the neighborhood for you to have a closer look at the river or to launch your own kayak or canoe. The neighborhood is also wonderful for a casual bike ride around its perimeter. You may keep bikes in the garage, where there are also beach chairs for your use.
The Town of Falmouth is known for its beautiful beaches. Menauhant Beach in East Falmouth is a 10-minute drive. Continuing along the coast, you will reach Bristol Beach, Falmouth Heights Beach, or Surf Drive Beach. Beaches in Woods Hole, North Falmouth or West Falmouth are about a 25-minute drive from the apartment. Falmouth also has the popular, scenic Sea to Shining Sea Bike Path. The Marina with the Island Queen ferry is just 20-minutes away. The Steamship Authority in Woods Hole is a 25-minute drive if you’d like to catch a ferry going to Martha’s Vineyard. Along that driving route is the landmark Nobska Lighthouse, which has stunning, panoramic views over Vineyard Sound. Downtown Falmouth has one of the prettiest Main Streets on the Cape. There are many shops and restaurants for you to visit, plus picnic tables are set up on the library lawn for the public's use. Drive to Mashpee Commons, 3 miles east of the apartment for groceries, dining, ice cream, and shopping at specialty or larger stores. Continue on towards the Mid-Cape Highway, and you can visit the magnificent Lower Cape National Seashore Beaches or unique towns, like Chatham, Wellfleet, Truro, or Provincetown. Hyannis offers ferry service to both Nantucket and MV.
In addition to its fabulous beaches, Falmouth also offers golf courses, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, Commodore Baseball Team games, conservation land for walks, movie theaters, the famous Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Marine Biological Lab, as well as many art venues such as galleries, Highfield Hall, the College Light Opera, and the Museums on the Green. Throughout the summer, the Falmouth Town Band performs free weekly concerts in the park by the marina.
