Hello, I have owned my beautiful home on the Childs River since 2002, and I am ready to share it with you, as this is my first endeavor with WNAV. A retired elementary school teacher and reading specialist, I have made 'Edgewater House' a peaceful place. At dusk and dawn there is a chorus of songbird and sea bird calls mixed with the fragrance of the salt water environment. No matter what the season, there are gifts: the worm hatch in the river, the rising blue fish and young stripers, the dragonfly hatch, the nesting birds, osprey flying overhead ready to dive and catch prey, the swirling swallows, the blooming dahlias, and the abundant fruit of the beach plum. During the sun-filled days, there's the thrum of boat motors, the view of ''yakkers'' and sailors headed out to the bay, much laughter, and then when its raining heavily, you will see river patterns that you have never witnessed.
My home is fresh, clean, and welcoming. It has a great internet connection, and you can decide whether you need heat, a/c, or fresh air. I will help you in any way that I can, but know that I offer you the total privacy that you need to relax. The shower water will be as hot as you like, and outside sitting areas will let you choose between sun or shade.
What is special about this property?
Besides the natural beauty, this location is perfect for other activities. Transport your bike to our famous ''Sea to Shining Sea'' Bike Path for a scenic ride, or stay here. Edgewater Drive has little traffic, so an easy ride, walk, or run around the peninsula is invigorating. Maybe, you'd prefer to take a 10-minute walk to our small association beach and go for a swim or just plant a towel and watch the boats pass from the Childs River to Eel River. Once back home, you might choose to roast hot dogs and burgers, or even make a pizza on the new grill. (I will show you how if you haven't cooked a pizza this way, yet.) Maybe, you just want to have a smoothie and sit outdoors facing the river. A fish market and nearby stores offer take out for an easy meal. The boat landing is right down the street, and you can tie up a kayak or canoe on the side of my dock and take a break.
Edgewater House is a place to breathe, write, rest, renew, and regain your energy. No matter what the weather, you will have an opportunity to slow down, read a book or Kindle, drink coffee as you watch the sun rise, or toast your partner with a glass of Prosecco as the sun sets. If you love flowers, walk around the property to see the irises, lilies, roses, native plants, and cultivated garden. You might want to travel to Provincetown, the canal, Boston, the National Seashore, or the JFK Museum. All are doable during a day trip. The week(s) or month is yours to decide to do what you feel like doing.
What is special about your town?
Hmmm, what is special about Falmouth? Well, it is well-known for the arts, so plan a visit to the Art Center, which will give you a taste of our local creative talent. Highfield Hall has featured shows, while the theater offers entertaining musical and stage performances. The boats at the Steamship Authority, the Island Queen, and the Patriot Two will bring you to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, or just out for a pleasant cruise. Those who enjoy sport fishing can find captains ready to help you catch a big one. Nobska Lighthouse offers weekly tours, and Woods Hole has its aquarium. You have your choice of restaurants, since this house sits between Woods Hole and Mashpee Commons. Eat delicious seafood, Italian, Mexican, American, or French bistro meals. We even have a local Betsy's Diner! Then, there's Smitty's famous ice cream or Gelfi's chocolates. For history buffs, the ''museums on the green'' offer glimpse into the past. Falmouth is knows for having the most contiguous shoreline of all the Cape Cod towns, so spend a day checking out each amazing beach. There are walks on The Knob, a small parcel of land jutting out into the Sound, or try the paths at Highfield Hall or in the Quashnet Woods. Our weekly newspaper, the Falmouth Enterprise, lists daily events. One of my favorite places is our town library situated in the center of Main Street. My golfing friend loves playing at the Falmouth Country Club, a public course. You choose! There are many options!
