Description

Description

A Sea Captain’s residence updated with a contemporary design aesthetic, this home is truly unique. A former inn, the house has six bedrooms - each with en-suite bathroom: two bedrooms on the first floor and four upstairs. A large, well-appointed kitchen has everything you need. The comfortable living room with its gas fireplace invites you to curl up with a good book or movie, and the spacious dining area is large enough for your group to gather for a special meal or occasion.

The front porch is a favored spot, from where you can enjoy the garden, your morning coffee, and the sea breezes. A fire pit invites you to relax on cool evenings.

Steps from the charming Falmouth Village, a quintessential New England town and main street of old, and a short stroll from some of the best restaurants, shopping, and beaches on the entire Cape. One of the finest bike paths on the Eastern Seaboard runs directly behind the Inn. The Shining Sea Bikeway runs along picturesque salt marshes and estuaries brimming with life, gorgeous beaches of Vineyard Sound with views of the islands, to Woods Hole and the ferry to Martha's Vineyard.

Exceptional natural beauty, trails, hikes and golf courses are all close by. This is the ideal “base camp” to venture on day trips to explore Cape Cod, the Islands, and off-Cape locales.

Woods Hole is a 20 minute bike ride from our front porch, or an 8 minute car trip. It is home to the world renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, with its labs and diverse population. It’s also where a few of our favorite restaurants and watering holes are located, and the ferry to run back and forth to Martha’s Vineyard.

***Please Note: If you need even more space, please see listing ID #35307 for information, including pricing and availability, for reserving this Sea Captain's home in addition to its cozy attached Guest House (1bd, 1 ba), with its own kitchenette, located just behind the main Sea Captain's home, giving you a total of 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.

** If interested in inquiring about reserving the Guest House only, please see listing ID #33629 for pricing and availability.

    Family Wedding Celebration

Guest Review: Our family rented this home for our daughter's wedding on the Cape. This home proved to be a central meeting place. The night before the wedding we had our immediate family and all the bridesmaids stay in the house so that we could be together to celebrate and to be together first thing in the morning when the hair, make-up crews and photographers arrived.
The house has such beautiful charm and detail that it made a perfect backdrop to so many beautiful wedding photos!
The open floor plan with living room, gas fireplace and dining area was ideal for gathering as was the large kitchen for prepping our brunch and mimosas. The kitchen had absolutely anything and everything you could possibly need.
The six bedrooms (2 on the first floor), each with a private bathroom was clutch for getting everybody ready at the same time for the wedding event on Saturday. The spiral staircase added so much character and beautiful backdrop for photos too.
We were staying October 2022 and it was nice to turn the heat on at night by room to take the chill off and the gas fireplace added a warm cozy feeling!
Everyone commented that the beds were very comfortable.
Washer and dryer were available too.
The day after the wedding was also convenient at the house to be together one more time for brunch and goodbyes.
The outdoor space was beautiful though being so busy with the wedding we did not have a lot of time to use the fire pit and the beautiful grounds, but it provided great areas for photos for the wedding.
The house is in an ideal location and having a convenient store right next door proved to be very convenient! The walk-ability to downtown/Main Street in Falmouth was ideal as well.
Since I could not have hosted this event at my home this home was the closest thing to it! Communication with the hosts of this home was outstanding. Any questions were answered instantly and the hosts were local to address or assist with anything that could come up.
I would 100% recommend this house to any large family who want to be together while celebrating any event such as a wedding or reunion.
The only thing I would do differently is that I wish we stayed for a longer duration.
We will cherish our stay here together with wonderful memories for many, many years!! Until next time!!
    Thank you Caroline & Trevor!

    A Wonderful Retreat In Falmouth!

In September a group of five friends got together in Falmouth for 5 days of fun. We were thrilled to stay at this lovely home. Each member of the group had their own bedroom and bathroom. There was a large well-equipped kitchen that was the perfect spot for breakfast and for outlining the sightseeing plan for the day. The large living room was great for relaxing. At the generous dining room table we played games in the evening and enjoyed some wine and dessert. This lovely home is any easy walk from town. Falmouth has many, many fun shops and delicious restaurants. This lovely home is less than a 15 minute drive from the Woods Hole Ferry to Martha's Vineyard. You will be 100 percent pleased if you choose this rental home for your next vacation retreat! show more show less

    Great Cape Rental!!

Loved our stay!! House is so lovely and very well stocked with all the essentials. We played corn hole, bocce and croquet on the beautiful large, flat yard and had a couple nice nights making s'mores around the fire pit. Perfect location for an easy stroll to Main Street for great shopping and great restaurants. Right on the bike bath and a short mile down the street to the beach. The many bedrooms and baths, all with ceiling fans, were perfect for our large family. Large, very comfortable family room and dining room and we made good use of the office space.

We've stayed at dozens of places on the cape and this was easily one of our very favorites.

    Highly recommend!!

    Captain Lawrence Inn

We had a nice week in Falmouth with our extended family of nine. The location was a good compromise for those who wanted to walk to the beach and those who wanted to be downtown. The center has fantastic shops and restaurants and the accessible bike path was a huge hit. The bedrooms of the inn were as clean as any b&b that I've stayed in. The kitchen could use some work and I was uncomfortable with my baby crawling on the floor. In general the inn is not super kid-friendly. It is also on a main road. The hosts were very welcoming and extremely responsive. They offered good suggestions and genuinely wanted us to make the most of our vacation. We had a really good time. show more show less

Wish we never had to go home...

Our party of 11 had a wonderful time staying at the Captain Lawrence for a week. I wish we never had to go home. The house was clean and had everything we needed including beach chairs, towels and umbrellas. Each bedroom had their own bathroom which was a luxury as we three families and young kids, teens and adults. The location was perfect as it was a short distance to town, the beach, hiking and everything else. The Shining Sea Bikeway is right behind the house. The hosts were very kind and hospitable. It was a week to remember and we hope to be back! show more show less

Wonderful house, great location in Falmouth!

We had an amazing week on vacation here. This is a beautiful charming house, formerly a bed and breakfast, with 6 spacious bedrooms, all with their own en suite bathrooms. It was perfect for our family of 6! The house is beautifully furnished with central AC, full laundry on the first floor, an unbelievably equipped kitchen, a huge dining room table for 8 and a living room we could all relax in together. It's a 2 minute drive to the beach or a 15 minute walk on the bike trail, which is located right next to the house. Charming Falmouth center is 5 min by foot, so we walked to dinner almost every night. The house has everything you need—luxury linens, bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, Weber grill. Trevor and Caroline were welcoming and responsive, even though I only contacted them about tiny things like restaurant recommendations. We loved every minute staying here! show more show less

    Beautiful Family Vacation Property!

Let me start by saying this is an annual extended family trip for us that has been occurring for 15 years on Cape Cod. Family consists of siblings, spouses, children, and grandparents with ages ranging from 3 to 81. We like Falmouth and it is our preferred Cape spot. This was our first stay with Caroline and Trevor. They are excellent hosts. I had a million questions prior to our stay and they were prompt and helpful. They also checked in with us several times during our stay without being obtrusive and were available by text. Enjoyed chatting with them. Very friendly and helpful with suggestions.
The house: This is the first time we stayed in a house where every room was an en-suite. Fantastic! Bathrooms are somewhat small but since no one was sharing, they were fine. Bedrooms are great. Beds comfy and central air and fans were excellent. Kitchen was fully stocked and living room/dining room had plenty of room. Deck was lovely although slightly smaller than I thought and not private as anyone staying in the loft apartment entered right next to deck. Front porch was nice. Plenty of beach chairs, beach towels, coolers and umbrellas. Plenty of parking as well.
Location: Fantastic! Busy street but walking distance to Main Street shops and restaurants. 7-11 was literally next door. Beach was a quick drive and we had no issues with parking. Bike path is close by. Falmouth is a great town and this is probably the best location in Falmouth being so close to the downtown area.
Overall: excellent house, excellent location, excellent hosts, excellent vacation. Would definitely stay here again.

"The past month in Falmouth was an incredible delight! Caroline and Trevor are phenomenal hosts, they went above and beyond the essentials to ensure we were comfortable, happy, and healthy. The house is perfect for a group of friends, couples or extended family. Ample common space and large bedrooms all with private bathrooms. Our group of friends loved living and working remotely in the house -- BBQs in the evening, yoga on the front lawn, and movies at night. Very conveniently located, we could walk to the beach, bike path, and the town of Falmouth. 5 star house and would love to return!!!" show more show less
