HOUSE BY THE SEA
House by the Sea' is a rare 1915 oceanfront home with incomparable Hawaii-like views, sugar sand beach, and beach stairs from our land. Carefully and captivatingly renovated to retain its quintessential antique Cape Cod detail, House by the Sea is located in a charming neighborhood of vintage homes with spacious lawns + gardens.

You'll appreciate luxury details like the Sub Zero refrigerator, English Aga Cooker with 6 burners and 4 ovens, wet bar coffee/wine pantry with 2 drawer Marvel refrigerator for drinks or canapés or a fancy dessert. The home has central air conditioning, and elegant traditional Nantucket style decor. This home is ideal for unforgettable family vacations. (We have some families who have returned as many as five times.)

Enjoy broad oceanfront porches with incomparable panoramic ocean views with whales cavorting around Manomet Point. Our screened, oceanfront dining porch is enjoyable for your seafood dinners and leisurely lunches. You can nap to the sounds of the surf, check email with WiFi on the lawn, relax in the Adirondack chairs around the fire pit, or read your escape fiction in the rocking chairs on the oceanfront porch. There is a crushed stone patio with a Weber gas grill as well as a Weber charcoal grill. The seating is teak English patio benches plus umbrella, chairs, and lawn table. You can watch incredible red-cherry sun rise out of the ocean while you sip your coffee. or enjoy the big dipper, a reminder of ''abundance'' on a sweet summer night. You would think that all East Coast oceanfront homes might have dramatic moon rises and sunrises, but not so… you have to be in the right spot, facing the right way, to get these glorious spectacles of nature of giant moon rising up out of the ocean like a scene from another world. This is the right spot.

The beamed living room with stone fireplace opens to a beamed dining room with wainscoting and a charming bay window seat overlooking the lawn and water. There is a wraparound oceanfront porch, glowing maple floors, antique wavy window glass. There is something special about seeing the ocean surf, bluffs, and beach through 100-year-old windows.

The cocktail/coffee pantry has wine glasses, a Keurig coffee maker + automatic drip (Mr. Coffee + French Press, and a stainless-steel 2-drawer drinks refrigerator. The well-equipped kitchen has the iconic Aga cooker (4 ovens, 6 burners, custom exhaust hood), 36'' stainless steel Sub Zero refrigerator, and honed granite countertops. Spices, condiments, and baking needs are provided, as well as ample quality cookware, dishes, flatware, small appliances, glassware, table linens, kitchen linens, spices, condiments, Generous starter supplies of paper goods, and laundry supplies.

House by the Sea has 5 bedrooms (all with ocean views) and 3 full (shower) bathrooms. You'll enjoy three private couples bedrooms 1) a queen, 2) another queen with bay window, 3) a king made of 2 singles, since we can't get a real king up the stairs.) 4) A full-bed open-sided room on the same floor, with ocean view, railing on one side, and 5) bunk room with two bunk beds plus a single bed so the room sleeps 5 kids, or an adult and 4 kids, or all adults nutty enough to sleep in bunk beds.

The first-floor full shower-bathroom has a step-up (it's an antique house) and contains a 4-foot shower and is the location for the stacking washer dryer. The second floor has two bathrooms. One has a subway tile shower with octagon tile floor and classic antique-style (but modern technology) exposed thermostatic shower valve and shower head. The third shower bathroom is newly renovated in March 2018 with shower and pedestal sink.

From the vantage of House by the Sea sits the arc of the beach, and the bluff looks like a scene from Hawaii. There are 3 flights of 37 steps down to the beach, two landings built-in benches. On July 3, with magnificent fireworks rising from the beach, this is possibly the most spectacular place to be within 2000 miles.

    Manomet House by the Sea

This was a lovely historic home with so much charm. The views were amazing from sunrise to moonrise. Communication with owner was excellent. Home was clean and equipped with anything needed. The stairs to the beach were well maintained, with landings & benches to rest if needed. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. We had excellent weather and the porch was used daily...to sit & rock & relax. Truly a wonderful spot to de-stress and rejuvenate. Thank you Robin & John for allowing us to stay in your House By The Sea." show more show less

    Magical Month

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very special home this past summer. Comfortable, spacious and very well appointed spaces, this location was just what we were hoping for.
The views were spectacular, from sunrise to sunset. Communication was excellent with the Homeowner and we hope to return again in the future. Many thanks to Robin for everything.

    Fabulous "House by the Sea"

This could also be called Paradise by the Sea. The views from the house (especially the screen porch), the front porch rocking chairs, and the lawn are phenomenal. I especially loved having my morning coffee on the front porch as the sun came up over the bay. Cocktails were a treat sitting around the fire pit (wood provided- thank you). We were fortunate to be there to see a bright, full harvest moon rise over the bay. The kitchen had everything we needed for the nights we cooked in. Great dishes, glassware, cookware. We loved the refrigerated drawers for our beverages. Dining room was large and fireplaces living room was cozy (not small, just cozy). Very clean. Plenty of towels and comfy beds. Quick communication with Robin. Great streets to walk on with friendly neighbors. And, the beach was a great walking spot as well - sandy with sections of washed up rocks. A lot of steps to get there, but so worth it. We will definitely be back. Thanks for sharing your lovely home. show more show less

Perfect stay at House by the Sea

We absolutely loved our stay at House by the Sea. The pictures, while stunning, don't do this property justice. It's an incredibly charming, old house that has been meticulously outfitted with every modern amenity you could want. Designed and curated beautifully, I'd call it antique beach elegant. Awesome chef's kitchen if you choose to cook, wine/drinks fridge and coffee bar are such nice touches. Comfortable bedrooms, each with it's own character, all with plenty of windows to take in the sea views. We stayed in September so the gas fireplace in the living room was perfection in the evening. Lots of beautiful linens, plush towels, soaps, paper goods all provided and plentiful.

The location on top of the bluff with sweeping views over the ocean and beach made us hang out on the veranda for hours. The large screened porch is perfect and the yard is also spacious with chairs and fire pit and both a gas and wood grill. Yes, there are a lot of stairs down to the beach, and it's easier down than up, but nothing unmanageable. And it's all worth it once you hit the super quiet beach. I believe it's private for residence and guests only.

The house is in a really quaint, friendly and quiet neighborhood and still very close (walking distance even) to restaurants, coffee shops and a boutique market.

Robin was wonderful - super responsive throughout the entire process from answering questions, to booking, to following up. And she clearly has an attention to detail as I do believe she thought of everything a guest could need or want and then some.

I'd highly recommend a stay at House by the Sea. Start to finish, you will not be disappointed in the least.

    A Lovely and Restful Stay

Absolutely, the view. Certainly, the view. You can (and we did) sit on the comfy rockers and watch the ocean for a long, long time. Or you can have your meals on the screened-in porch, with the music of the surf in the background. But ultimately, you have to come in the house, and that is where House by the Sea shines with its own special light. First, the house is so immaculate and the rugs so beautiful that my husband and I took off our shoes when we came in the house without even being asked--it seemed the natural thing to do. And yet, it's homey--wonderful games, interesting books, everything you need in the kitchen (so much so that I knew if something was missing, that I couldn't find it rather than it wasn't there--so the corkscrew is with the coffee and tea stuff rather than the general utensil drawer). Even more, the endless great small things that often don't make it into reviews: the water comes out of the shower hot right away! The shower has VitaBath (my very favorite!).

Robin is a joy to deal with, always responsive and prompt. In terms of pricing, this house was a bit of a luxury for a single couple like us (but we needed it and felt that we got full value), but it's a steal if you are two couples. It is very close to the beach--the stairs are at the end of the yard, close enough to be tremendously convenient, but far enough away that the other people using the stairs don't feel like intruders. It's a long climb up from the beach, but my husband, who is a fit 73 years old, made it without difficulty. Our only regret was not bringing watershoes, as the beach is quite pebbly. We would absolutely stay again, and are considering coming back next year already.
