I first came to the Cape when I was a freshman in college. I had grown up in Bucks County, PA .and my family had a summer house on the New Jersey coast, so I was used to being in the ocean every day during the summer season. I have never lived far from the ocean and I could not imagine my self doing that. Years later, when the parents of a college friend invited me to help bring a boat up to Provincetown, where they lived, I seized the moment. As it turned out I ended up stayed several years, and then for several vacation times when, years later, I attended graduate school in Boston. Following my graduation I worked for a firm in Boston for several months, feeling conflicted the whole time about whether I wanted to continue to be in the city, in a job that involved wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase, or whether I really wanted to get back to the Cape, and work in a totally different world. What is special about this property?
(Continued from above: ) As it turned out, I soon found myself joining my father in Key Biscayne, Florida when my mother died. This gave me the time and space to reconsider what I wanted to do with my life. I began to take some simple carpentry classes at a Dade County owner builder center, just for the fun of it. I don't want to drag this story out too much so I will jump ahead to say that I did eventually return to the Cape, settling in an an old ship captain's house in Wellfleet, a house that needed just the kind of fix it up work that I enjoyed doing and was able to do. This wonderful antique two family house contains the suite apartment which I have listed on We Need A Vacation. (And, a few years later I purchased cottages from my next door neighbor, which are also listed for summer rentals, See, Property 10164)
