Description

Welcome to our home, our House in the Trees!

Our House in the Trees is on Gull Pond Road on the Ocean side of Route 6, around 2 miles from Newcomb Hollow, Cahoon Hollow Beaches, Gull Pond Long Pond, downtown Wellfleet and the Pier. Walk to Moby Dicks!

This is a bright, airy and spacious home with an “open beam” architecture made with reclaimed wood from an old Connecticut school house. The open floor plan has a cathedral ceiling in the Great Room (living room and dining room) with wrap around windows. The house is on a hill on its own private, paved drive, well away from the street. Surrounded by trees, it is VERY private. There are several sky lights throughout the house so you can star and moon gaze or just watch the clouds drift by. Sunsets through the trees viewed from living room and back deck are just beautiful.

We contract with a GREEN mosquito abatement service which means being outside on the decks or shower is virtually bug free.

The house has 4 bedrooms, (two bedrooms per floor) and a full bath on each bedroom level. There is an entertainment room (TV/Games) and an office area, both of which overlook the living room and dining room.

Each floor of the house is reached by a short set of stairs, only 6 steps, making it easy to get up and down. The 4 levels offer privacy and space - great for a family with kids or two or three couples or two families! (Three queen , and two twins).

The two upstairs bedrooms each have a window air conditioner. There are plenty of powerful fans.

There are two decks, one on each side of the house (do you want sun or shade?) and an outside shower off of the front deck. A charcoal barbecue and a picnic table are on the other deck.

We supply paper towels, napkins, toilet paper and all basic spices.

There is a washer and dryer in the basement, and the kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, plates, lobster pot, etc. Cable TV and high speed Internet are also provided.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WHILE WE LOVE BASICALLY ANYTHING WITH 4 PAWS WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS.

Please feel free to contact us with questions about our House in the Trees. If you are new to the Cape, we will also be happy to provide information about the area. And, if our home is not the right fit I hope you find a wonderful place that is!

Our favorite home of the last 10 years

We have been going to Wellfleet for about a decade and this home was our favorite! There was so much that was great about this place. Sitting in the living room (or the patios), you really feel like you are tucked in amidst the trees, with large windows all around looking out at the beautiful Cape Cod treetops. The high ceilings and skylights enhance this feeling. It also has great patios, and gorgeous sunset views, and access to ocean beaches and ponds without having to cross Rt 6 (we walked back from Gull Pond). The pantry was well stocked with a great collection of spices and tea. The home has an open layout but the bedrooms are tucked away and private from each other. There is plenty of space for a large group to eat together, socialize, or sit in separate areas. The driveway does take some getting used to, as it is fairly steep, but with a little practice we figured it out. Rebecca was also a lovely and very informative host. show more show less

    Great Week

We had a lovely week at Rebecca's house. Very beautiful and private space that was close to everything we love on the Cape, including the kettle ponds and beach. Fantastic light and views from the windows. We even woke up to a six point buck looking in on us one morning! Spacious, clean and well appointed.

    Perfection!

I can't say enough good things about this home and the owner, Rebecca. Rebecca was very available to answer any questions we had. Her home is spacious and gorgeous. It has unique and beautiful architecture. With lovely, personal decorations, it was more like staying at a friend's very nice home than at your standard rental. It is on a quiet street, with views of surrounding wooded areas.

    Fabulous vacation house

Our group of 3 adults and 3 children loved the decor and relaxing spaces in this rental property. The house sits up on a hill and catches lovely breezes, with many large windows, giving great light throughout the cathedral ceiling main living areas, open balcony and upper areas. There were cozy seating areas for small and large groups to gather throughout. The open kitchen was very well stocked and ready for any type of cooking you wished to do.
The beds were comfortable with good closet space and plenty of fans for warm weather. (It was warm and humid when we visited but we were never hot in this home)! The outdoor decks were lovely and comfortable , with shade and sun in different areas.
The home was very clean when we arrived and stocked with necessities such as paper towels, toilet paper and clothes detergent etc, Rebecca had thought of everything to make a vacation stress free and relaxing! We have been vacationing in Wellfleet for many years and this is our favorite rental and we hope to make it an annual stay for years to come!
    Thanks for everything Rebecca!

    Great Vacation in Wellfleet

Rebecca's home in Wellfleet was such a warm and inviting place to spend two weeks with my extended family. The house is very well maintained and the location is great – on the ocean beach and pond side of Route 6 but just a short bike ride into town. The house has plenty of room with many comfortable spots for a group of eight to have privacy from one another and is so well stocked with anything you need to cook great meals. For rainy days there are board games and lots of books on the shelves to borrow. Rebecca is a great host – super responsive and helpful. We look forward to our next stay. show more show less

    Repeat Wellfleet Retreat

This was our second stay and each year is better than the last! With a very large living room and 2 spacious decks, there is definitely room to spread out or gather together for meals and games galore! The house and roomy outdoor shower are always clean and tidy, airy and fresh! Located in Wellfleet, there are numerous restaurants to enjoy but the house is expertly equipped with everything you need to prepare lunches and dinners, from grilling to lobster! My favorite is the additional shed which houses boogie boards, kick boards, beach chairs, umbrellas and even floats for the ponds and bayside beaches! Couldn't be better! show more show less

Wonderful week on Gull Pond Road

Rebecca's house is extremely cozy and comfortable, with a very well equipped kitchen. The decks are surrounded by trees and are peaceful throughout the day. The living room has comfy furniture and the the house has excellent natural light. We really appreciated the air conditioning units for sleeping, otherwise the main living area has a good cross breeze. We hope to come back and stay another time!

    Love at first sight

We keep coming back to this beautiful house year after year. If my memory does not fail me, the first year I rented it was six years ago and since then it has been love at first sight.

We love the location near the ponds and our favorite beach (Beach Comber). The house is surrounded by trees and it's a pleasure to sit outdoors in the front or back decks to enjoy meals or drinks after a day at the beach or pond.

I love the architectural design of the house with its high ceiling and spacious living room, kitchen and dining area. A great place to spend a week with our dear family members in the most likable best summer place we know.

Welcome to our home, our House in the Trees!

We recently were lucky enough to get this house (Thanksgiving 2015!) Having this home is a dream come true for me (Rebecca). I grew up on the East Coast and any summer that our family could save the money to do it, we would camp or rent a small cottage on the Cape, specifically, Wellfleet. Those summer weeks were magical! If you have never spent time on the Outer Cape before, you are in for a real treat. Because we have been renters ourselves, we are making sure our home has everything anyone would need to have a great experience.

One of the great things about this house is that it has separate areas so kids and adults can have some dedicated space. We are also working on a ''library''. You are free to take a book with you if you haven't finished it prior to leaving... just make sure to leave another book in its place, OK?

If it rains, the mahogany decks gleam the most beautiful color and all the windows keep you from feeling closed in. It is actually kinda wonderful. (but we will send ''no rain'' wishes for you cause we know you probably want to be outside!)

What is special about this property?
What we love (my husband, Skip and I) about this house is the location and the way the house is built. It is so quick and easy to go from bay beach to ocean beach to ponds to town (as in 5 minutes!) It is what is called Open Beam architecture and it is all the exposed wood that we love. It is made from reclaimed wood from an old Connecticut schoolhouse. The cathedral ceilings and skylights make it spacious and airy. We love sitting on the decks with a morning coffee or an afternoon drink and just looking at the trees. Because of all the trees it has a very private feeling… as if you are alone on the top of a hill with no one around (even through there are houses close by.

One of the aspects of the Cape that I love are the long, sandy driveways into the woods to reach private residences. We have found that those are romantic and beautiful to look at and to drive on from time to time but a real pain to negotiate every day so we appreciate that we have our own paved and private drive right off of Gull Pond Rd. It is less than 5 minutes to Route 6, the main artery for the Outer Cape.

We are just a couple of minutes from either Newcomb Hollow or Calhoun Hollow beach or Long Pond or Great Pond and you can walk to Gull Pond. Downtown Wellfleet and the pier are also easy access. Sunset Point is only a few minutes away. It is centrally located between Orleans and Provincetown.

What is special about your town?
If you decide to stay in our home, and have never been in the area before we will be happy to provide you with all sorts of information about the area.

    Best wishes,
    Rebecca & Skip
