I've stayed in this cottage for 17 of the last 19 years. This is the perfect place if you're looking for a quaint reminder of Olde Cape Cod, where you're closer to nature and can soak up the sights, sounds, and aromas of the Cape. Wi-fi keeps you connected to the outside world, but this is the perfect Cape Cod escape. The owners are very down-to-earth, friendly people who make sure their guests have everything they need, have updated the bathroom and kitchen, and are very respectful of guests' privacy. The large screened porch gives shelter but lets you sit right on the bank of Duck Creek, with a beautiful view of Wellfleet and daily sunsets. In 10 minutes or less, you can walk across Uncle Tim's Bridge and be in the heart of the incomparably quaint town of Wellfleet. I have been renting this sweet, clean, comfortable early 19th-century historic cottage for several decades, and cherish it as a second home where I spend weeks painting. The charming cottage, once a saltworks office, sits on Duck Creek, behind the town pier, with gorgeous west-facing water views. It has the basic amenities one would expect in a simple, historic tiny home, and the owners have tastefully updated the kitchen and shower bath. While adjacent to the main house, the cottage is surprisingly private, sheltered by the trees and a large yard, with a good-sized screened porch facing the water. Rustic in feel, it is ideal for one or two people, in easy walking distance of Wellfleet center along a sandy birding trail where the railroad once ran. The owners, Marnie and Ralph, are wonderful people, friendly and very knowledgeable, both responsive to requests and mindful of guests' privacy. If you are looking for simple pleasures and natural beauty, convenient to town, you have found the place."
