Description

Welcome to Bayberry Path Cottage—an airy, comfortable three-bedroom home just a short walk down a sandy path to a quiet bay beach. Located in the coveted Indian Neck neighborhood on a quiet dead-end street and surrounded by bayberry bushes and native oak trees, this is an easy, relaxed spot for families or couples looking for a classic Cape Cod getaway.

Inside, the cottage blends the charm of knotty pine walls with modern conveniences. You’ll find A/C mini-splits in every room, a fully stocked kitchen, Wi-Fi, a smart TV, a dishwasher, and a cozy working fireplace. All three bedrooms have queen beds (one also has a twin), and two of them sit down a short hallway—great for naptimes or quiet evenings. The full bath with shower and bathtub are located on the main floor adjacent to the bedrooms.

Also on the main floor the open kitchen/dining/living space leads right out to the deck, where you’ll find a gas grill and seating for eight—perfect for post-beach meals. The front yard offers another great hangout spot with a picnic table, hammock, lounge chairs, and space for yard games.

Downstairs, the laundry room, half bath, and storage area are stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards, and sand toys. The private outdoor shower includes a separate dry area for towels and clothes—ideal after a sandy day on the bay.

Linens and towels (including beach towels) are provided. If you prefer to bring your own, just let me know and I’ll reduce your rental cost by $100.

If you haven’t been to Wellfleet, you’re in for a treat! Known for its spectacular ocean beaches, pristine spring-fed kettle ponds, and thriving oyster scene, Wellfleet is a longtime favorite for Cape Cod lovers. The charming village center is filled with art galleries, boutiques, fish markets, ice cream parlors, and great local restaurants. There’s even a small market and a weekly farmers market to cover your essentials.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love the miles of National Seashore trails, the famous Cape Cod Rail Trail for biking, and some truly iconic breakfast spots. You can take a local oyster tour to learn about Wellfleet’s world-famous oysters, or spend a few hours at the Wellfleet Bay Audubon Sanctuary—an incredible spot for birding, wildlife watching, and scenic walks.

Don’t miss the beloved Wellfleet Flea Market and the classic Drive-In Theater—both local institutions. And if you’re looking for a bit more nightlife or shopping, Provincetown is just 10 miles in one direction and Orleans is 10 miles the other. Orleans is also home to the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Firebirds, who play throughout the summer—an unforgettable and very Cape experience.

I have been visiting Cape Cod and my family has rented cottages every summer since I was a small child, and for years, my parents rented the same cottage year after year. My now grown children have been coming with me ever since they were born, and we have rented cottages similar to this one every year. We finally had the opportunity to purchase a cottage and found this charmer. Now we look forward to sharing this little slice of heaven with others when we can't be there to enjoy it ourselves. We hope you love it as much as we do and you make this your summer spot year after year!

What is special about this property?
The thing I love best about the cottage is the plethora of birds in the trees around the property. I love having coffee surrounded by the lovely sounds they make. My kids love stargazing while sitting on the deck--on a clear night you can see a million stars in the sky. The cottage is bright in the living, dining and kitchen areas, and the bedrooms are on the back side and not nearly as bright -- great for sleeping in. While it has a sofa sleeper for 2 more people, the space is small and most comfortable for 6-7. It has everything we need when we stay, and we hope that you enjoy your visit. Please let us know if you think we missed anything!

What is special about your town?
Wellfleet has the best beaches on Cape Cod! It is much less crowded than other parts of the Cape, and yet has just about everything you need. The drive-in and flee market have always been a favorite of my family, and on rainy days the Cinema comes in handy. The restaurants are great and in the past few years, some new additions have expanded on the older classics that have been around--and still deliver great food. The Indian Neck neighborhood is unique in that there are many places to get to without getting in the car - spectacular hikes, biking, gorgeous beaches and interesting kayaking spots. In fact, you can kayak over to Mac's on the Pier pretty easily, and there is a way to walk to town that does not require going on Route 6, which is always a plus. We love this particular area of Wellfleet and hope that you do too!
