3 Year Renter - Highly Recommend!

We'd like to keep this our best kept Vineyard secret, but that would not be fair. We have been lucky enough to spend 3 weeks, 3 separate summers, at this rental. The location could not be better, especially with younger children. The fenced in backyard provides hours of entertainment and it is a short walk to town for shopping and dining. Also a short walk to a few beaches and the Chappaquiddick ferry! The owner is accommodating, responsive, and has become a friend. You will not regret this property! show more show less

It has been my delight to have this family return year after year. Knowing that their family enjoys our home as much as we do is a joy. I have enjoyed our conversations, texts and swapping photos of their family. My experience has opened the door to an unexpected friendship which I treasure.

    Vintage Vineyard Family Home

This lovely 19th-century home, an archetype of Vineyard residential architecture, is tucked away on a quiet street in Old Edgartown. It's a clean and well-lighted place, in the same family for three generations, a genteel home that has the ambiance of peacefulness that only a cherished family getaway can have. The house has been lovingly cared for and updated, cool in summer, warm in winter. It's comfortably furnished and full of books -- in fact the one-room backyard sleeping cottage was once the island's tiny, much-beloved Borrowdale Bookstore. The bedrooms are comfortable and cozy, the kitchen is inviting, and the two living rooms are large and convivial. There's off-street parking. We felt as if we were in our own home, not a rental, and given this is Martha's Vineyard that was the greatest pleasure of all. We never felt like tourists. show more show less

Love this home again and again

We have stayed in this comfortable home for many summer vacations and for Christmas in Edgartown week. It has always been a joy to return. Kathryn is very accommodating and couldn’t be more helpful. Her loving care is always apparent. The cottage became a plus as our sons grew and brought friends along. They love having a private spot of their own.

The home is well equipped for cooking big family meals indoors or out. Towels and linens are top notch and so nice to not have bring our own as many rentals require. Couldn’t be in a better location for walking to shops and assess to bike paths.

We have only positive things to say about this home, and it's always sad to leave. We will definitely return.

Charming Home Near Everythibg in Edgartown!

We stayed for a week in this home (3 adults and 3 small children). It was the perfect launch-pad for strolling into Edgartown or walking to the Fuller Street Beach.
While it is close to everything, it sits on a quiet street that isn't easily accessed by car so was quiet.
The homeowner was very easy to work with in any questions or issues we had. The home is fully stocked with kitchen needs as well as quality linens and towels.
The home has a true New England feel and made for a great week on Martha's Vineyard. We all had plenty of space to both play and relax with two separate sitting areas and the cottage. show more show less

One of the joys from sharing our home is all the fabulous people I get to "meet", even though it is usually by phone or email. I appreciate Elizabeth's kind words and am very happy that the house was a good fit.
Even though we state that the cottage is a bedroom, we would also love to have a bathroom. It was converted from a bookstore just a few years ago. At the time our cooling/heating system was our priority. Making changes in the historic district is a slow process, but we will get there.show moreshow less

    Who could ask for more?

This house provided EVERYTHING we could possible want in a vacation get away! The house was impeccably clean, as were sheets, towels, and rugs. Every conceivable kitchen utensil was in the kitchen, ready for use. The well manicured lawn was beautiful to look at as we sipped our morning coffee. The biggest surprise was the guest house, playfully hidden behind the vaulted living room! Our adult children drew straws at who would get that "prized room"!
The kitchen was long and narrow and very workable, no problem fitting and sitting 6 adults at the table. This room looked over the main street in front of the house, but it didn't matter; there was no traffic whizzing past on the dead-end street. There was plenty of room for off street parking. A very short walk on quiet streets led us to Edgartown. There was a/c if we needed it, and lovely, spacious bathrooms, plenty for us. Questions we had of the homeowner were ALWAYS thoroughly and thoughtfully answered by the homeowner. We will definitely be back! show more show less

This is the fourth house we've rented on Martha's Vineyard (always Edgartown) and the best one so far. It is in the perfect location - just a few blocks from the shops, art galleries and restaurants of Edgartown but tucked away on a very quiet side street. You don't even need a car or bike because everything is so close (including the bus stop) but there is a place to park 2-3 cars. The house itself is spacious, bright, well-stocked, and nicely decorated, with loads of books everywhere. We were six people and the three main house bedrooms and 3 bathrooms were more than adequate for our needs. The bedrooms were a good size, reading nooks were present in the upper two bedrooms, and the beds themselves were quite comfortable. There was also a living room and a separate family room so we were able to spread out. The family room was bright and airy and had games and puzzles to keep the kids occupied. We also had everything we needed in the kitchen and laundry area and very much appreciated that there were beach towels and beach chairs to use. There is a pleasant back/side yard as well, which could be made more useable with a slightly different outdoor furniture configuration. The owner was also excellent to work with - responsive and helpful, reminding us of key dates like car ferry reservations and local events. I would strongly recommend this home, particularly based upon our experience of having rented three other houses within blocks of this one. show more show less

This spacious, beautiful home should be your first choice when planning a trip to the Vineyard. Located just a few short blocks from the coffee shop, waterfront and enchanting shopping area of Edgartown, this property had everything I needed for making many lovely memories, from a well supplied kitchen to ample fluffy towels, pillows and luxurious linens. This home is suited to all families and groups. If you have teens who would like to feel some "independence" there is a cottage for sleeping but requires coming indoors to use the "facilities". If you have small children you have the option of sleeping on the same floor as the children or on separate levels from them. Children would, also, enjoy the large. fenced yard. Evenings were so cozy with two very large areas for either tv watching, reading, conversation or other quiet pursuits. I spent a lovely vacation in this home and would highly recommend it and its very pleasant owner for your vacation. show more show less

We just returned from spending the holidays in this home, and it was perfect. The home is open and airy, with plenty of beautifully appointed space for the whole family to relax, spread out, and enjoy themselves. The beds are very comfortable, which you don't always find in rental properties, and the bathrooms are lovely. The kitchen is well stocked, and the layout is such that you could entertain easily. Part of what we love so much about this house is the proximity to everything - it's a two minute walk to a coffee shop, bookstore, loads of restaurants and bars, and a five minute walk to the harbor. You can also easily walk to the lighthouse and the beach that looks over the harbor at Chappaquidick. We would stay again and again - loved everything about it! show more show less

Our family has been on the Vineyard for the last 125 years. The in town location allows quick access to town and easy biking to the beach and Morning Glory farm stand. The back cottage is great for teenagers, the nanny, or someone just wanting a little more privacy. The house is full of light and comfortable furniture. All linens, beach chairs, and a fully out fitted kitchen are provided. Bring your food, bikes and bathing gear.
