My husband Tim and I have owned our house on Martha's Vineyard for 24 years. We purchased it for our 25th wedding anniversary as we had honeymooned there and the Cape in 1968. We have enjoyed many days and nights with our family and friends there and love to share the island experience with others.

We also lived there for four years and have gained a perspective about the island that is different from just the usual tourist look. I was the principal of the Chilmark School during that time and my husband had just retired. Family obligations called us back to New York State and so we are back to sharing and renting our property with those who enjoy the beauty and peace of Martha's Vinyard as we

We care for our house lovingly, as a precious gem, and our house is in a perfect location, offering access to town by foot or bike, yet far enough away from the bustle to relax. We are two blocks off the bike path and bus line, which affords alternate travel if needed. South Beach is 1.7 miles from home.

What is special about this property?
The house is in a quiet neighborhood called Edgartown Estates which is a mile from Edgartown Center and 1.7 miles from the beach. The house itself is very open and airy, with two sliding doors out to the large deck. There are two decks on the house One is 10 by 36 and then wraps around the front entrance, covered by a pergola. This is protected by a wooded lot and a small courtyard, affording privacy and comfort.

The kitchen is open to the dining room, which makes entertaining the family or company designed for maximum interaction as you prepare meals. The bedroom upstairs (2) are quite large , each containing two queen or full sized beds affording family sleeping options with a jack and jill bathroom between them. There is also another bed and bathroom downstairs.

At the back of the property is a two car garage that has never been used as a garage ( used for Storage) with another studio apartment above. This is sometimes rented for an additional cost if a large family would like to rent the entire compound. This studio contains queen bed, living room with queen pull out, a complete kitchen and laundry and has two decks, both of which overlook a wooded lot adjacent to the back of the property.

The two spaces are separated by a courtyard and do not impact the privacy of either house as all the activity areas of each space face in opposite directions. It is, but not often rented separately, but usually reserved for our use or the use of our family if occupied

I believe that Edgartown is one of the most beautiful towns in America. The benefits of the location are listed above. my own feeling is this. Martha's vineyard taught me that the best things in life are free. I get so much enjoyment out of riding the bike paths, enjoying the scenery and relaxing on the beach... absolutely no cost to enjoy these things. Come see for yourself
