Description

The House:

Experience the charm Nantucket has to offer from our fully renovated historic home, conveniently located in town. Situated across the street from the Great Harbor Yacht Club, ''Nantucklet'' screams ''Location, location, location!'' You can leave your car on the mainland and walk or bike from our house (if you do bring your car, we can accommodate it in our driveway that has two tandem parking spots). It is a 2-minute walk to a full-service and fully renovated convenience store and a six-minute walk to ''Wicked Island Bakery'' where you absolutely must get up early to treat yourself to a Sailor's Knot pastry or Morning Bun (insider's tip: call the day before to reserve). Nantucket is less than a ten-minute walk to the Stop-and-Shop and anywhere from a 5-15 minute walk to world-class dining, excellent shopping, and cobblestone stone streets.

The house features a spacious kitchen with custom cabinetry that was crafted by the Amish in Pennsylvania. A large (96 inches) table can easily seat eight people since it has five chairs and a custom window bench. All new stainless appliances, a gas range, Quartz countertops, and a farmhouse sink make cooking and clean-up (almost) fun!

The living room features comfortable seating and 55-inch TV. The nearby den is a great place for an intimate group to gather or to take a nap or read a book.

The master bedroom has an en-suite bath and a fireplace, as well as a queen-sized memory foam mattress and TV. The guest room also has a queen memory foam mattress and direct access to the den. In fact, the den can be closed off to create a mini-apartment with the guest room. The bath has an oversize walk-in shower, classic white subway tile, Carrera marble flooring, and a beautiful view of the garden.

Kids and adults will delight in the second floor bunk room. It is light, white, and airy and has four twin beds, also with memory foam mattresses.

The main bath has a shower-over-tub and custom vanity. It also has white subway tile and marble flooring.

The mudroom has plenty of storage and a stacked washer and dryer. There is a brick patio (equipped with a propane grill) outside for morning coffee or happy hour and an outdoor shower. The house is equipped with sheets, bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs, a Keurig and a regular drip coffee maker. It includes a starter supply of paper towels, toilet tissue, sponge, dish soap, trash liner, and toiletries.

The Island:

Things to do while visiting:

1. Rent bikes in town and bike along the Milestone Road out to ‘Sconset. There are great bike paths all over the island and it’s a great way to explore beyond downtown Nantucket without splurging on a rental car. Start at ‘Sconset Market with a blueberry muffin or ice cream cone and walk the ‘Sconset Bluff Walk up to Sankaty Lighthouse. The bluff walk is a hidden gem and there’s no signage directing you where to go, but it’s a public walk through the yards of some of the island’s most beautiful homes on Baxter Road with the Atlantic Ocean off to your right. If you start at the market and find the rose-covered cottages on Broadway, you’re on the right path!

2. Consider a sailboat ride (or charter the whole boat for up to 14 people) with Endeavor Sailing. The captain is extremely knowledgeable about the island, the boat itself is beautiful, and you can either soak up some sailing tips or sit back, relax, and pop a bottle of rosé.

3. Head out to Cisco Brewers, a combination brewery, distillery, and winery near Bartlett’s Farm. You pay a cover ($5 at the time of this writing) at the entrance and then enjoy your beverage of choice while listening to live music and snacking on the food truck offerings.

4. If you end up with a rainy day during your trip, you can catch a movie at the Dreamland in town or stroll through the Whaling Museum (warning: it will be crowded if it's raining and parking will be difficult). Super cute gift shop here, which is accessible to the general public.

5. Go to the beach! There are so many options on Nantucket. A few to consider:

Walkable from the house are Children's Beach (located off of Harbor View Way), with gentle waves and summertime activities, and Jetties Beach (4 Bathing Beach Road) with shallow and calm water. My favorite is Miacomet Beach, which has big ocean waves and a pond for the littles. Nobadeer Beach is a drive-on beach (4WD only) and my second-favorite, located near the airport.

6. Eat! World-class dining options abound here! I love Dune, and Cru is tremendously popular (while I was decorating the interior of the house, the manager at Cru let me borrow some chairs to test-drive at my kitchen table to make sure I liked the sizing with my table; how's that for service?!). Others to consider are Galley Beach and The Proprietors Bar & Table.

7. Shop. There's a shop for everyone on nearby Main Street.

    Great space for friends

We loved this rental! Great location and had everything we needed. We were 7 ladies on a girls trip. Anastasia was quick to respond and take care of anything that came up. It is a busy street but had sidewalks directly into town. We rented bikes and rode to the beach. But we mostly walked everywhere.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Michelle! One of the reasons we picked this house was because of its proximity to town (and the beach at Francis Street) and I am so glad you enjoyed that, too. Hope to see you again!

We had a wonderful time at Nantucklet. The charming house was accurately listed and a perfect size for our family. We loved the location, close enough to town to walk (15 min) but far enough away from all the noise. We hope to come back again!

This was one of the best VRBO or Air B&B stays my family and I have ever had. We had flowers, a birthday card, and a welcome gift there upon arrival, because we were there celebrating my mother's 60th birthday. Super clean house and very well decorated.

Things to note: outdoor shower! Great water pressure & got really hot. Plenty of beach chairs and towels (8 I believe). Lots of serving platters, bowls, etc. for cooking. Master bed was extremely comfortable!! Great AC circulation. Last thing- the property was much bigger than the photos looked. Plenty of space for 8 adults living under one roof! show more show less

We enjoyed this home tremendously. It is chic and cozy in the best of ways. Terrific, large kitchen with wonderful appliances. The furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. The spaces are intimate and ideal for family bonding time. The location is convenient to everything on the island. Plenty of beach chairs, a nice grill, an outdoor shower. The owner is extremely accomodating and helpful.

    Great

First visit to the island and the host could not have been more helpful. She gave restaurant suggestions and an itinerary of things to do. The house was sparkling clean and well-decorated. The location made it easy to walk for ice cream or to the grocery store and there was even a little beach across the street for the littles.

Beautiful home, fantastic host. This home is in a great location. We didn't need a car for our one weeks day I got around by bikes and foot. The owner had great suggestions and responded quickly. Looking forward to coming back!

We booked the house for the Christmas stroll and absolutely loved it! It was unbelievably convenient to town and to island kitchen/chicken box/stop and shop. We only took an Uber once and it was only because it was below freezing! The owner was so helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend.

We stayed in the cottage for a week over Thanksgiving holidays and loved it. The place is beautiful, nicely set up, comfortable, and very clean. It's also in a great location across from a duck nature preserve which my kids loved, and a short walk to Main Street. The owner Anastasia was very nice and responsive and helped us with anything we needed.

This cottage is walking distance to the main town and great restaurants. The upstairs room has four single beds - very cute and comfortable for kids. The kitchen was well appointed and modern, as were the bathrooms. There was a tankless water heater as well, so hot water was unlimited. Very stylishly decorated. Beds were extremely comfortable. It was a lovely cabin, and we would definitely return.

While relatively new to the Nantucket rental market, we've been renting our vacation rental home in upstate NY for almost 20 years! We are parents of three children and love giving them advice and always happy to give our guests suggestions to help plan your stay at our home.

What is special about this property?
We looked for years to buy a home on Nantucket. When we first saw this one, we walked in, shook our heads, and thought, ''this is a tear-down.'' But, the stars aligned, and we ended up buying it and spending a year fully renovating it, often from afar.

This house is ideally located. There is a beach across the street and the convenience store is less than a three-minute walk from the house. There are days when we don't even use the car and get around on foot or by bike.

I love the kitchen because the table easily seats eight and it is great for family meals or playing games. The window seat is cozy enough for a nap. My husband loves the patio area for morning coffee and loves taking an outdoor shower.

Although the house is small (1192 square feet), it lives larger.

What is special about your town?
My brother-in-law once described nantucket as ''magical.'' At first, I thought that was pretty hokey, but, the more I thought about it, the more I realized how accurate it was. There is something magical, mysterious, exciting, and fascinating about being 30 miles at sea. It is astounding that on this little island, there is world-class dining, fabulous shopping, and beautiful beaches.
