Description

Welcome to The Cove!

Built in 1929, our lovely old Nantucket home is located in Nantucket town. It is a 6/10 mile walk down Orange Street to the heart of downtown. Just across Union Street, about four blocks away, you'll find the sandy shore of the harbor with gorgeous views of the entire harbor and grassy wetland. Walk the 3/10 mile to Francis Street Beach on the harbor, 6/10 mile to Children’s beach, or 1.5 miles to Steps Beach.

No need to bring a car, as all of the restaurants, shopping, museums, and sights of Nantucket town are just a 15-minute walk away. You’ll be an easy 10-minute walk away from the Stop & Shop Grocery store, and just a five minute walk will get you to Henry’s Junior for delicious sandwiches, Hatch’s for liquor and beer, Cumberland Farms convenience store, or Sayle’s seafood for some of the best seafood on the island.

Open to the entryway, the living room has vaulted ceilings, television with cable, and comfortable seating. The galley kitchen is small but well-appointed, and leads out to the back patio and cottage. A full bath with bathtub, located off the kitchen, serves the downstairs. There is a bedroom with queen bed, closet, and front-facing windows downstairs, as well as a spacious dining room and wet bar complete with a bar sink and small refrigerator.

The staircase at the front of the house leads you directly into a large bedroom with vaulted ceiling and twin beds, which can become a king bed if desired. The adjoining upstairs full bath with tub is accessible through and open to this bedroom. A new laundry room with full-sized washer and drier was added to this upstairs room in 2022. Also upstairs, another bedroom with vaulted ceilings has a king bed and opens onto a covered balcony overlooking the back patio with seating for two. There is ample closet space in this bedroom as well.

The adorable little cottage in the back has a queen bed with air conditioning, power outlets, and storage/closet space. There is not a bathroom or running water in the cottage.

The Cove has the only front yard on the street, recently redone and surrounded by a lovely perimeter of hydrangeas, perennial flowers, and grasses. It is furnished with Adirondack chairs in the shade of two big trees, so you can sit and enjoy your coffee in the morning or relax with a glass of wine after a day at the beach. We also have bricked off-street parking for one car in the front.

There is a partially shaded bluestone patio in the back, surrounded by wooden fence covered in climbing hydrangea, with an outdoor shower, a gas grill, an herb garden, and a large teak table to seat 8 with a canvas umbrella. Bistro lights hang overhead for charming evening lighting.

We have high speed internet that works throughout the home. The house is equipped with sheets, quilts, extra blankets and pillows, bath towels, beach towels for six, beach chairs, two coolers for beach trips, a Keurig, a regular drip coffee maker, and a Ninja blender. There is also a service set of Vietri dinnerware in the dining room for dinners at home.

We have an excellent cleaning crew who clean the home from top to bottom before each rental. If you would like the house cleaned during your rental, this can be arranged with the cost added to the weekly rate.

Alex will be very quick to respond with any questions or concerns, and we have a wonderful on-island caretaker who will be available if needed as well.

Pets considered on a case-by-case basis. Please note that pets should not be allowed to ''do their business'' in the yard, but should be walked off premises.

From the second week of June through the end of the second week in September, rentals are one week minimum, and are Saturday to Saturday (sometimes flexible!). Otherwise, shorter stays are possible, and pricing will be pro-rated from the listed weekly cost.

    Perfect Location

Home located midway between town, restaurants and grocery stores. Also right down the street from a small beach and pond. Easy walk in each direction. We have been coming to the island for 25 years, stay for 5 weeks and never realized what an ideal location it is located in. If we had any questions during our stay, the owner was very helpful and readily available. Caretaker readily available if we had any problems. The house was cozy, well stocked and very functional, with a nice big yard and back patio, as well as small deck off one of bedrooms. Two car driveway was nice when you have guests over. We are looking forward to returning next year.

    Very cute!

The Cove was a peaceful retreat and had everything we needed. My two young daughters loved playing in the front and back yard and the fence created a safety boundary. The Cove is located on a side street which is calm and quiet but close to everything. There is only one parking spot available. The owners are kind and easy to reach. Would definitely recommend!

The Cove - Fantastic Home, Fabulous Location and Awesome Owner

We have been coming to the island for several years and the last home we had been renting for multiple summers was sold over the winter and was not available for rent this past summer. As we started looking for a new home that could accommodate our group, a family of 5 (+ 9 y/o Golden), 1 set of grandparents, and our au pair, we stumbled across the Cove. As we were choosing between properties, we had a lot of questions and Alex (owner) was awesome, following up with us and answering every last one.

The Cove was perfect for our large group. Once we arrived, we enjoyed morning coffee, apres beach cocktails, and lawn games on the Cove's "grand lawn". In the evenings we split our time between hosting dinners in the backyard garden and playing board games and Uno in the family room and dining room. The wet bar in the dining room is a nice luxury to have. The one day it rained we hunkered down in the tv room and binge watched our favorite shows on Netflix.

You can't ask for a better location. You are a quick 10 minute walk into town, a short distance from the bike paths, and if you wish to venture to other parts of the island, being off of lower Orange allows you easy access to routes that will take you to Sconset, Surfside, mid-island, Cisco, Madaket, and Cliff. And if you need some milk or sugar for your morning coffee or hershey bars and gram crackers for SMORES, Cumberland Farms is a 3 minute walk while Stop and Shop is about a 10 minute walk.

Alex is very responsive, super organized and made our stay at the Cove extremely enjoyable. The Cove is clean, very well maintained, and bright; it includes everything you need to feel right home or to entertain guests. It was exactly as described! We look forward to staying at the Cove again next summer.

    A+ all-around

Excellent all-around vacation experience for our family of adults. Good location, fenced in beautifully landscaped yard for coffee & cocktails, fresh & airy, clean and bright. Nice dining room with bar. Very comfortable. We had loads of fun!

First time in Nantucket/Great family mini-vacation!

Lovely first time visit to Nantucket from Florida! We had a wonderful time in autumn as a family with our children and baby grandson. I only wish it could have been longer. Great house location with on-property parking for 2 vehicles on a quiet and quaint street close to town. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll to town in 15 minutes admiring all the beautiful homes on the way. We all enjoyed sitting on the front yard with our coffee/wine on the Adirondacks and a blanket for the baby.  Your home being set back from the street makes it ideal to sit and enjoy the lovely garden. There is also a secluded backyard area with a lovely herb garden, Adirondacks and teak dining set which were perfect for enjoying our lunch from Something Natural.  Loved the cozy little cottage in the back too.

The house was impeccably clean and supplied with clean bed linens, blankets and towels. The kitchen, although compact, was very well stocked with more equipment and supplies than we could actually use (nice to have if needed). The spacious and well appointed dining room with French door to the back patio worked great for meals at home. The wet bar and mini fridge were ideal to store wine, as well as the local beers from Cisco Brewers which were super popular with our adult children. Your recommendation for the take-home lobster meals from nearby Sayle's Seafood was a HUGE HIT for my son's 30th birthday!   So much so that it was repeated a second time during our stay!

Nantucket is truly captivating. We will be back! We enjoyed walking and exploring the surrounding streets and nearby beaches. Our stay was truly memorable!  You have a lovely home.
