The Beaches of the Town of Sandwich

Jennie Sparrow | 5/23/2019 (updated 1/24/2020)

Sandwich offers a mix of saltwater, bay beaches, and fresh water ponds, all of which are perfect for spending a sunny day swimming with the family!

Bay Beaches

Enjoy a walk on the boardwalk over the marsh Town Neck Beach. The boardwalk was just named one of National Geographic’s “Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S.” It leads to a sandy beach that offers great views of Cape Cod Canal. Like all Cape Cod Bay beaches, when the tide goes out at Sandy Neck Beach, it leaves behind miles of beautiful flats perfect for beach walks, sandcastle building, and tidal pool exploration! You can even take your 4-wheel drive vehicle out for a drive on the sand with a special permit. And if you’re looking to spend a lazy day soaking up the sun, bury your feet into the clean, white sand of East Sandwich Beach. The calm waters make for perfect swimming for people of all ages!

Lakes and Ponds

There are a number of fresh water ponds to enjoy in the town of Sandwich. Snake Pond has a good-sized beach with soft sand and nice views. Don’t let the name fool you—there’s nothing snakey about this pond! Another small freshwater beach is Peters Pond. This beach provides a ramp for launching small boats. Fun is sure to be had with such opportunities as swimming, fishing, and boating!
