Cape Cod Summer Bucket List: July

Summer is finally here and celebrations are back! From fireworks to outdoor festivals, there are plenty of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Watch one of the fireworks displays during the Fourth of July weekend.

It wouldn’t be Fourth of July on Cape Cod without a fireworks display! There will be several opportunities to catch a show throughout the week. July 1st, Mashpee and Chatham will be holding their fireworks shows on July 1. You can catch the Hyannis Fireworks display on July 4. If you’re still in the spirit of celebration after the 4th, be sure to see the Plymouth display on the 5th or the Orleans display on the 10th. Fly a kite!

Join the fun at the Cotuit Kite Festival on July 3rd and 4th, offering programs for all ages at different places and times throughout the weekend. For more information, please visit CotuitKiteFest.org.

Purchase fresh produce.

Stop by one of the area’s many farmers markets for fresh produce, seafood, flowers, and more!

Attend the 7th Annual Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival.

This event happens July 9th through the 18th. Not just a celebration for the hydrangea, this event encompasses plants of all kinds, with the main attraction being the touring of local gardens! For more information, please visit capecodchamber.org.

Attend a yoga class at Highfield Hall.

Take in some nature while doing relaxing yoga. Highfield Hall will be hosting yoga classes on the lawn on Thursdays throughout the month of July. For more information, visit highfieldhallandgardens.org

Participate in the Falmouth Sprint Triathlon.

A rite of summer on Cape Cod, the Falmouth Sprint Triathlon is happening on July 11th & 12th. This event attracts not only local triathletes, but visitors from across the nation and the world. For more information, please visit RacePlace.com.

Visit The Barnstable County Fair.

There’s a fair in the air! The Barnstable County Fair returns to the town of Falmouth July 19th through the 25th. Visit CapeCodFairGrounds.com for more information.

Attend a Cape Cod Baseball League game.

The Cape Cod Baseball League is the nation's premier collegiate summer league, with over one thousand former players who have gone on to play in the major leagues. Find schedules and details at CapeCodBaseball.org.

Support local artists.

The Hyannis HyArts Artist Shanties are open through Sept 26th at Hyannis Harbor, featuring a variety of art for purchase from local artists. Looking for other opportunities to marvel at art? Attend a festival and shop locally.

There are several popular festivals throughout the month of July. The Chatham Arts & Crafts Festival, held July 10th and 11th, will feature over 55 artisan displays. From pottery to paintings, there is sure to be something for everyone! Looking for another popular festival to attend? Love Live Local Fest, happening on July 25 in Aselton Park on Hyannis Harbor, is another Cape Cod favorite. This free event features between 75-120 Cape Cod artists, farmers, and local businesses. Stop by and shop local!
