About Eastham Painters Guild, Outdoor Fine Art Gallery...Facemasks worn by visitors and members are required. There will be a designated entrance only and exit only for the show. Hand sanitizer will be available, we will have contactless payment and will be disinfecting high contact areas throughout the day. All of our members are eager to be showing again! The Eastham Painters’ Guild was organized in 1980 to support local painters and provide an opportunity for the public to view and own original fine art from Cape Cod painters.

The Guild’s first show was held on the lawn of the Eastham Public Library. Those local artists displayed their paintings on wood and wire from old chicken coops, and everyone sold a painting at that first show! That success has been repeated for more than 30 years. In the mid-1980s, as the membership grew, the Guild moved to the Eastham Historical Society’s Schoolhouse Museum and has held exhibits continually for 34 years. The Guild has a juried membership – that is, the artists’ work is evaluated first. So although the chicken coops have been replaced with sparkling white display tents and umbrellas, the art continues to be gallery-quality and steeped in Cape Cod colors.

Today, we continue to hold our exhibitions on the lawn of the Historic Schoolhouse, directly across from the National Seashore’s Salt Pond Visitor Center at the corner of Route 6 and Nauset Road in Eastham. When you visit our exhibit, you will have the opportunity to meet all of the artists in the morning when we all gather to set up our displays, and again around 5:30 p.m. when we all arrive to take down our exhibits.

On many days, you will be able to watch an artist at work. When staffing the desk or simply “hanging out,” several of our members will set up their plein air easels and paint, allowing you to watch, take photos, and ask questions about their creative process.

For an original artistic experience, visit the Eastham Painters and learn why Cape Cod has been a haven for artists for more than 150 years. As the weather warms, look for our white tents and wonderful art. A stroll among our artwork will be a nice addition to your visit to the National Seashore Visitor Center and the 1869 school room in the Schoolhouse Museum.
