About Special Exhibit: Perception: Lightpaintings by Stephen Knapp...The Sandwich Glass Museum is pleased to present several lightpaintings by artist Stephen Knapp (1947-2017), who was one of a small group of artists that worked with glass and light. Formed at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and architecture, Knapp's lightpaintings are multi-dimensional compositions of pure radiance. His works were created by using a special glass treated with layers of metallic coatings that act as a selective prism to separate focused light into different wavelengths of the spectrum. Knapp then shaped and polished the glass to make a palate that reflected the glass onto a surface and the surrounding space. Stephen Knapp's lightpaintings will be featured through December 30,2020 in the Hirschmann Theater. This exhibit is made possible through the generosity of the Stephen Knapp Family Trust.
