A Recap of the Annual Homeowner Forums in Brewster

Elizabeth Weedon | 10/31/2013

Attendance at last Saturday’s complimentary, annual Homeowner Forums in Brewster was the largest ever. And, judging by the spontaneous applause at the end of the two sessions, our homeowners enjoyed themselves as much as we did.  In addition to the presentation by our staff, homeowners appreciate the opportunity to share questions, concerns, and rental business practices with their fellow homeowners.

The presentation included a general overview of the 2013 Cape and Islands vacation rental season and general marketing advice, particularly regarding the critical value of providing good pictures on a listing. But the main focus of the this year’s Forums has been on the growing impact of guest reviews on the  vacation rental marketplace - and what rental homeowners need to do as a result.

Due to the growing popularity of the Cape Forums in recent years, they were expanded last fall from one session to two, and the venue was changed from the rental home of WeNeedaVacation.com  owners, Joan and Jeff Talmadge, in Orleans to the more accommodating Cape Cod Sea Camps Art Center in Brewster.  We were again fortunate this year to enjoy sunny weather with comfortable, seasonal temperatures.

The fifth and final Forum of the 2013 season will be held this Saturday, November 2nd at the website’s home office in Wellesley, and a capacity crowd is expected.

About Elizabeth Weedon

About Elizabeth Weedon: I worked for WeNeedaVacation from 2008 until I retired in 2023. I was also one of the first vacation rental owners on the site in early 1998, when I managed my family’s Vineyard rental home. An enthusiastic member of the support staff, I provided fellow Cape and Islands vacation rental owners with advice about online marketing and rental management techniques. I created and edited much of the content on the website, as well as blogs posts and monthly newsletters. I now live on Martha’s Vineyard full time with my family.
