Sweeping Atlantic Ocean views dominate the 30' X 22' great room at this beach front home. The great room is flanked by 2 master bedrooms with baths also facing the water. Cathedral ceilings tower above the spacious living room where plush couch and matching chairs circle the fireplace and a generous kitchen with skylight and counter with stools as well as separate dining area for 8 face the water. Located on the quiet, eastern end of the island, you hear nothing but the water lapping on the shore and the cries of the sea birds gliding along the edge. Watch for seals feeding off shore.
When it's time for a party, the large space easily accommodates 30 or 40 people. Stepping outside onto the deck, you'll find another table made of teak with new teak chairs and there are chaise longues for sunning. de as they hunt for food.The house is decorated with remembrances of the family's past generations on the island in informal, antiquey style with lots of seaside-themed wool, hooked rugs and fun artwork. An old wooden rowing shell from the 40's hangs along the length of the ceiling. The rear wing features another 2 bedrooms with shared bath and twin beds. The larger bedroom has water views. Nine miles from town, ''Beachnut'' offers the quiet, relaxing vacation you need, but is also close to golf, and a 4 star restaurant, ''Toppers'' located at the Wauwinet Hotel. Five minutes from the house are the Cranberry Bogs owned by Nantucket Conservation, where you can walk your dog or just enjoy seeing the cranberries turning from yellow to red and the hidden pond which is favored by nesting cormorants, ducks and hawks. Ocean Spray buys most of the cranberries which are harvested in October. A 20 minute ride into town gets you to the movies, clubs, more restaurants and shops.
