Description

Lovely family friendly beach house in Chatham is perfect spot to create memories with family and/or friends.

It has a deck and huge flat yard for games and BBQ's, outdoor shower, AC, wifi, gas firepit, big kitchen with an island and dining table, large dining room, adjoining living and sun rooms. It's minutes from beaches, ponds, bike trails, fishing, kayaking, and shopping/dining in quaint downtown Chatham.

At the end of a quiet private road with just four houses, the house is located on a gently rolling peninsula that juts out into Pleasant Bay. Nickerson Neck is great to explore by bike, car or boat - it is also home to the exclusive Eastward Ho Golf Club, two small town beaches – Crows Pond and Strong Island Landing, many lovely homes, and sweeping ocean views. The house is the perfect spot for a family vacation or a getaway with friends, with easy access to all that Chatham has to offer. It also offers the perfect home base for attending or hosting a wedding or event at the nearby five-star Wequasset Resort, the neighboring Land Ho Golf Club, or the Chatham Bars Inn.

There are two large flat lawns for kids of all ages to run around, play yard games, sunbathe or just hang out, and an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand and sea. The large yard also makes a great spot for family volleyball, soccer or croquet, or for a casual BBQ or brunch.

The deck off the kitchen and sunroom is perfect for morning coffee, cocktails, dining, card-playing or shell-sorting. A retractable awning means you can choose sun or shade. You can cook for a crowd in the large, high-ceilinged kitchen (or outside on the gas grill) with room for at least 14 in the kitchen and dining rooms. If you want to try your hand at steaming lobsters, you’ll find lobster and corn pots, crackers picks & bibs.

The open, glass-filled sunroom and adjoining living room are great for catching up with each other or playing games. Cool off in the AC when it’s hot - cozy up to the gas fireplace or gas firepit on the patio when it’s not.

The large first-floor primary bedroom includes a king bed and full en suite bath with dual sinks. Each of two upstairs bedrooms sleeps up to 4, with two double/queen beds in each room. The basement is a great spot for kids of all ages, with a queen, bunk beds, a full bathroom, two couches, a smart TV and an air hockey table.

Beaches & Ponds: Chatham is nearly surrounded by water and has many beaches you can get to in minutes. Pleasant Bay, which surrounds Nickerson Neck, is a mostly protected bay that is home to many public boat landings, moorings and small beaches with gentle waves, including Jackknife Beach, Crow's Pond, and Strong Island Beach. The south part of Chatham on the ocean offers bigger waves - Hardings, Cockle Cove and Ridgevale Beaches. Lighthouse Beach near the center of Town is a must-visit beach with stunning dunes and views, while Oyster Pond (a saltwater inlet) and Schoolhouse Pond (a freshwater kettle pond) offer additional gentle options for younger children. Finally, the gorgeous national seashore beaches of the Cape are a short drive away, with the gorgeous Nauset Beach in Orleans just about 10-15 minutes from the house.

Other Activities and Attractions: Chatham has so much to offer, including kayaking, biking on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, boat rentals, fishing charters, golf and fishing, shopping movies and dining in the quaint town village, Chatham Anglers baseball games, the observation deck at the working Chatham Fish Pier, tour boats to see the seals that gather on Monomoy Island and walks at the National Wildlife Refuge. Don’t miss Chatham Lighthouse and the Chatham Shark Center, or one of Chatham’s museums and historical attractions, including the Atwood House Museum, the Chatham Railroad Museum, the Caleb Nickerson House, and the Marconi Maritime Center. There are also summer band concerts downtown at the Band Stand.

Bars and Restaurants: While the kitchen has all you need to cook at home for a crowd, Chatham has dozens of dining options, including casual options like Chatham Fish & Lobster, Dogfish Taco Co. and the legendary Squire pub, as well as gourmet offerings including the Wequasset and Chatham Bars Inn restaurants, plus the Wayside Inn on Main Street where our family patriarch worked in his 20's and fell in love with Chatham.

    Fantastic Family Vacation

We've been vacationing in Cape Cod for nearly 10 years. A few years in, the house we rented was sold, and our family grew, so we've stayed in different areas.
This year, this house checked off all the boxes and more, to make everyone happy. It was clean and comfortable with great sleeping space and bathrooms, plus the outdoor shower. There's plenty of room for play and activities inside and out. The living rooms and patios provided a place to relax and visit. The large dining room was perfect for family dinners, including our annual lobster feast. The house is well equipped indoors and out. Our hub, the kitchen had everything.
It's a perfect location, in a quiet neighborhood yet easy to get to all the places we like to go. We enjoyed small, quiet beaches nearby and the beautiful ocean beaches within a short drive. Of course, near Chatham and beyond, the sightseeing, shopping and dining is outstanding.
Karen was very helpful, providing information to make our stay easy and enjoyable. Karen, you are delightful to work with and we thank you very much! Right away the family asked, "Can come back to this house next year?"

    Amazing house, great vacation!

This property is lovely, very well maintained, clean and well equipped for anything you need! It is our second time staying here and we love the quiet location that is close to many Chatham favorites…shopping, beaches, wonderful restaurants, the fish pier and more. The house is very spacious and has so much to offer with extras such as beach chairs, games, kayaks, etc. We highly recommend this for a great family or multiple family vacation spot!

    Amazing Rental in Chatham

My party of 10 and I had the most amazing stay at this rental in Chatham. The house is perfect for large groups and equipped with EVERYTHING you could possibly need. The kitchen is fully stocked (kitchen aid mixer, baking sheets, all types of utensils and gadgets, cook books, etc.). My group also took advantage of the 2 bikes and 2 kayaks that came with the rental, which was so much fun and much easier than renting bikes and kayaks from a 3rd party. The dining room easily seated all of us and there was ample space for all of us to relax in the double living room and backyard. The house was spotless when we arrived and was clearly thoroughly cleaned before our arrival. Additionally, the house is very close (walking/biking distance) to several great beaches and close to the town of Chatham. The host Karen is also fabulous; she was extremely responsive via email and text and answered all of our questions promptly. If you are looking for a great house on the Cape for a big group, look no further! show more show less

    Wonderful home!

I rented this house for a family weekend (8 of us) and it was perfect. The house was large and had everything we needed. The kitchen is fully equipped, there wasn't anything that we needed that wasn't already there. The house was also nicely located to get to different places within Chatham and the surrounding mid-Cape area. Additionally, Karen was accommodating and responsive. I would definitely rent this house again.

    Wonderful Week Away

We had the most wonderful and much needed vacation! We shared the house with another family (5 children under 5!) and the layout of the house was perfect. Each family had a floor to themselves and we ate every meal on the covered deck. The dead end street was great for riding bikes. The yard provided a spacious and safe play space. The tidal pools of the nearby Chatham beaches took all of the stress away from a day at the beach with little ones. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed for the weekend and had the best time at the house and doing all the fun things in the area. Lots of room in the house to disappear but also great for group activities. We will be back.

Our dad worked summers in Chatham in the 1950's, fell in love with the town, and returned many years later to buy this home, which is where our extended family and friends have gathered for summer vacations and holidays for 30 years.

There is a sign in the house that tells it like it is: ''This is our happy place.'' We hope our home, and Chatham, become that for you as well, and we invite you to take selfies with this sign at your favorite places around the house and around town. All we ask is that you share your favorite shot with us - we're sharing one of our family patriarch, visiting Jacknife Beach at Thanksgiving.

What is special about this property?
The big open spaces - indoor and outdoor - for gathering are what makes this home special. but most come back because some of their fondest memories happen in the house and the huge yard where we eat together, play together, and reconnect. Cooking together in the big, open kitchen, meals or puzzles on the huge farm table in the dining room, drinks on the deck, s'mores by the fire pit, volleyball or cornhole on the lawn, biking the gorgeous peninsula that is our neighborhood.

The house is a particularly special place to gather for the 4th of July. Chatham's 4th of July Parade is second to none, but even better - you can walk across the neighboring golf course and watch the fireworks over Pleasant Bay from the best place on Nickerson Neck.

What is special about your town?
Chatham is beloved by many for its summer attractions - beaches, bike trails, ponds and waterways, strolling the quaint shops on Main Street and dropping into the Squire. You can grab a lobster roll and watch commercial fisherman bring in their catch on the viewing deck, take sandwiches to eat below the dunes at Lighthouse beach, go out for sushi or tacos, or you can enjoy the beautiful views and gourmet offerings of restaurants at the Cape's most luxurious resorts. Bike in town or on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, hit the beaches of the National Seashore, kayak from Oyster Pond to Stage Harbor or across Pleasant Bay to the wildlife preserve on Strong Island, or charter a boat for a fishing trip, or to see the seals on Monomoy Island and have a picnic on North Beach.

But Chatham is lively and charming all year long, especially during the holidays, when you can take a stroll on the beach before your holiday meal. Chatham is also a go-to spot for New Year's Eve due to First Night Chatham, a fabulous, family-friendly celebration of the arts with over 70 performances and events, including a Town photo, noise parade and fireworks display.
