Our “Holiday Home”

We have just finished an amazing week at the Nathan Stone House. Unfortunately, the weather was not as beautiful as the house! We had family from England, New York, and Massachusetts, a total of 16 adults & 2 toddlers! There was plenty of room and out door space to accommodate all of us! The location was perfect for traveling throughout the Cape, as well as trips to the beach! We were excited to find a home with plenty of space to accommodate all of us, and plan to visit again!

A wonderful home for a family gathering!

We rented this home for a week after my daughter's wedding. Since we had relatives here from the UK, we needed a large house to accommodate us. This house was great. There was room for everyone and plenty of space to socialize. Mayflower beach was perfect, but especially good for my grandchildren. And every evening we walked a very short distance for ice cream. The yard is large and the kids enjoyed playing there as well. The property is old but charming. It was very clean and the kitchen well stocked with whatever cooking utensils we needed. We had a wonderful week. Thank you Chris!

We rented this house over Memorial Day Weekend- there were 16 of us and plenty of space for all. The house was confortable and clean. It is in a great location, close to shops and beaches. Chris was very easy to work with. I would rent this house again!

This house is huge! Incredibly charming because of its' age. We were able to fit 18 people over the week we stayed. It has lots of room to eat, play games-indoors and out-places to relax in their 2 living rooms and on the hammock and swing. The beach and shopping are close by as well. I think a huge help was walking distance to 3 coffee shops and a grocers. The beds are very comfy and there are enough bathrooms for everyone to have privacy. The outdoor shower was also a real treat! We're so happy we found this gem!

Spacious, comfortable, and historic!

We had a fabulous time! The house suited us perfectly—we had a big group, but everybody had a comfortable place to sleep, and it was great to have 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens, and that central dining room, with its big table, tied it all together. And the house feels very private, while also being within walking distance of a great grocery and the village center. We were also very impressed by the 1766 pedigree! We were able to read up on Nathan Stone (the man who built the house) from the books on Dennis history in the parlor, and we even found his headstone (and those of his family) in the burial ground across the street. Love the big wide floor boards, the labyrinthine layout, and the comfortable and tasty décor. We were impressed by how well maintained and clean the house was. Chris is friendly and easy to get in touch with. We will be back.

This is a great house! Plenty of room to relax in comfortable surroundings. Both the house and the yard were enjoyed by all. North Dennis is a quaint, pretty town with interesting shops and restaurants. The house is just a short bike ride from the beach. We stayed here with a group of 9 people and there was more than enough room. This year will be our 3rd stay at the home and we hope to keep coming back year after year. Chris, the owner, is very accommodating and easy to work with. All in all a great choice. You won't be disappointed.

Magestic Retreat

15 members of our family recently stayed at this wonderful historic home. Everyone from age 82 to our 3 year old had a wonderful week. The house itself is well preserved, yet remarkably modern. After just a few minutes the house magically wraps itself around you and you are under it's spell!!! Every room has marvelous wall paper, and the furnishings are cozy, sensible, and comfortable.. The main bath on the second floor is quite large and appears to have been fully renovated very recently. With 3 baths, there was never a problem waiting!!! The kitchen was fully operational for any type of meal, and we cooked often. Even made birthday cake! Plenty of pot's and pan's and what not. Laundry room off the kitchen is perfect. We spent many hours on the back deck relaxing earlier in the day and later in the evening. Very quiet and peaceful! The air-conditioning worked perfectly during a beautiful but very warm week. The location of this home can't be beat. It is on the road that takes you to Mayflower Beach, a truly spectacular spot. My husband and I took a power walk from the house to the beach every morning, (1.3 miles) but this is not something you would do with all your beach needs. You would want to drive down to the parking lot, which fills up by 10-11am and either pay $20 to park, or drop off all your things and family, go back to the house, and ride a bike or walk back! There are other beaches near by as well. Being on Mid Cape allows you to explore in all directions without having to drive for hours. Bike trail is nearby and is a fun day out. Plenty of restaurants, and food nearby, with the convenience of the Dennis Market practically across the street!! Stop and Shop is a ten minute drive. Chris is the nicest guy to do business with, very easy going. The only things I could find fault with was the grounds. They really aren't manicured, so don't expect the outside to look like some kind of a resort or million dollar property! But once you step into the home, it doesn't matter!!! Also, the lack of internet connection is hard for those who do not have a smart phone.
I Highly recommend this home away from home. You could easily pay double or triple the weekly rent in order to accommodate 15-20 people, (Just check on this website--prices for other homes are crazy for 1 week!.) You would be hard pressed to match this charming getaway!!!

Living history with lots of space

Our family of 12 had an amazing adventure in Cape Cod using the Nathan Stone House as our home base. This home was remarkable. The kids loved the nooks and crannies and the adults reveled in the history. Some have said that the home comfortably fit 19 people... and I'm not sure if that would be comfortable, but it very comfortably fit the 12 of us and offered us a spare room as well.

The house was clean and comfortable. If you enjoy history, this house is ideal. It's great to walk through the halls and imagine what it must have been like in 1766 when the house was new and then head across the street to the cemetery to see the headstones of the people that once walked those same halls. The history books in the house brought it all to life.

The house is located close to Mayflower Beach and Chapin Beach, both great beaches for families with kids. The shallow waters are clear and perfect for spotting sand dollars and seashells. Restaurants and markets are only minutes down the road in either direction, and yet you can walk in the back yard and feel like you're far away from the rest of the world. Beyond the trees next door is a great playground for the kids.

The owner, Chris, is extremely helpful and didn't seem bothered by the many calls I made to him before our trip. He was always helpful and pleasant. He keeps the house stocked with books and magazines to help you during your stay, and basic furniture for infants and young children are available for use as well.

It's worth your while to at least inquire on this historic vacation home. We'd stay here again if we traveled to Cape Cod in the future.

Excellent Space for Large Parties

We had a wonderful trip at the Nathan Stone House in Dennis. We were a group of 18 and slept absolutely comfortably in this home. 2 kitchens make coordinating cooking/eating and food storage a breeze! The back yard was a fantastic space - nice and shady (with some great spots of sun) - we spent all day and night out there! The men in our group played golf at some of the nearby courses and the women spent their days at the beach, which was only about a 5 minute drive from the house - doesn't get much better than that! You're a stones throw away from a great market which supplied us with phenomenal food/snacks throughout our trip (check out their deli counter, they have some great marinated meat!)

We were also perfectly situated to take some day trips and had a great time in Chatham and Provincetown.
We really had the most wonderful trip - everyone in our party was very sad to depart and we cannot wait for our next visit to the Nathan Stone House! Chris Hart made renting this house such a pleasurable experience. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and answered any and all questions I had about what to bring, what was around town, suggestions on things to do, etc. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to bring a large party to the cape. Can't wait for our next trip to the cape!

We have returned to the Nathan Stone home every year since 2005 not only because it fits three families with children and now those children’s children but also because Chris and Ya-Shih (the owners) have been most gracious in their dealings with our blended clan. We also love the Cape charm that exudes from the house itself as well as its surroundings. Built in the 1700s, the house offers an abundance of nooks and crannies, two living rooms, a full kitchen and a “back” kitchen, a plethora of bedrooms, a massive lawn, both front and back, perfect for young and old to: run around, play badminton, Ladder Toss, practice golf swings, take a ride on the wooden tree swing or view rabbits and the occasional turkey. Every morning, weather permitting, members of the group wander piecemeal to the outdoor porch, where coffee or home-made smoothies are drunk or Underground Bakery scones are consumed. The house sits only a mile and a half away from Mayfair Beach, so we are able to avoid parking fees by riding bikes or walking to the water. You simply cannot beat the location for restaurants or entertainment right in Dennis. A little over an hour to Ptown, a half hour from Chatham and 20 min. from Hyannis (depending on the time of day, of course) the house is perfectly situated. Though you will need to bring your own sheets, towels, beach chairs and groceries, there is central air, a central vacuum and everything one could need as far as kitchen utensils are concerned. Our annual trip is coming up very soon, and we cannot wait.

Historic and spacious house!
Our group of 15 friends stayed here for a long weekend for a wedding in neighboring Brewster. Everyone fit comfortably and enjoyed themselves! Three bathrooms and two kitchens was accommodating for our large party.
We mostly hung out in the larger kitchen, dining room, and living room with the TV when we weren't out exploring the Cape and eating at the many seafood shacks/ice cream spots nearby! There are also beaches less than 5 minutes away by car, but it was too cold for us to stay too long. The property was very clean and well-maintained. The house is definitely older, but that was the fun of it! There is heat and A/C. There is also plenty of parking for cars. Chris was really pleasant to work with and answered my questions promptly by phone or e-mail. We'd definitely come here again!

Great place to spend time with the ones you love
My family and I went down to the nathan stone house with great expectations to celebrate our sons wedding and our stay was outstanding. The house is very old but it lets you experience many things you would not in a newer place. We easily slept 16 people and had 20 plus friends for dinner many nights that week. The 2 kitchens came in very handy and the spacious grounds out side allowed us to host a bridal shower out side that was a big hit. The house is close to some great beaches and the dennis market across the street has all the necessities you need plus a super meat department. All in all our stay could not have been better and the wedding was fantastic.

Fantastic stay for our family!
Our vacation with our large family worked beautifully in this well laid out historic home. The two kitchens provided flexibility, the large yard was ideal for the children and prompted several child developed dramatic performances for the adults outside! The two parlors allowed for different groupings. The central large dining room table offered the opportunity for group gathering and reminiscing.....Perfect Cape location. Chris is great to work with. You won't be disappointed. I am a B & B owner.
