Description

Perfect for groups of 6-12, Nauset Beach House is a large, beautiful, comfortable home PLUS a connected cottage. Amenities include ping pong and pool tables and loads of toys - plus many kitchen and entertainment amenities that please adults. Central AC throughout the house, privacy fence and landscaping, natural stone walkway, automatic irrigation of all grounds, outdoor lighting, rooftop solar, strong extended Internet, and updated furniture and artwork for a bright contemporary look.

Located in the very desirable area of Nauset Heights, East Orleans, just 2 lots back from the Priscilla Landing/Nauset Inlet and a short walk over the dunes to famous Nauset Beach. Our location is ideal for people who have beach, boating, fishing, surfing, bird watching and athletic interests. The boat launching area into thousands of acres of the Nauset harbor is about a 2 minute walk from the property.

Nauset Beach House is spacious with many amenities. It has 4-5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths (plus a great outdoor shower) in the main house - along with a 2nd kitchen and a 2nd living room in the attached, remodeled cottage.

Nauset Beach House is exceptionally well equipped. There are 2 kitchens! Between them we offer a new induction cooktop nd range, quiet Bosch dishwasher, 2 refrigerators, 2 microwaves, blenders, coffee makers, coffee grinders, toasters and toaster ovens, lobster & pasta pots, waffle iron, griddles, and many pots, pans, serving dishes, utensils, a quality Heckel knife set,, Weber gas BBQ. Everything needed to feed a group. We also stock most paper, soap, and basic spices, so you won't have to buy them on your vacation.

In the cottage, you'll find a 55'' Sony LED HDTV, DVD player, Comcast cable with Netflix and other streaming stations, lots of comfortable seating.

The remodeled cottage living room/dining room is also often used as a 5th bedroom as it has a comfy daybed and a new high quality memory foam queen size sofa bed. The 2nd kitchen area offers an extra refrigerator, beautiful granite seating area, another microwave, coffee maker, popcorn maker, slow cooker, etc. The cottage also has a pretty bedroom with 2 twins beds, a full bath and garden views.

The cottage has its own outside entrance and is connected by French doors to the main house. These can be closed for quiet and privacy. This is perfect for grandparents or others who want to be with the group but enjoy some space, too. (The main house and the cottage are always rented to the same group.)

Inside the main large house, there is a large 880 sq ft open concept room with 28 windows. The modern kitchen with a granite island seats 5. Plus, there's a big dining table for 8-10 and a large living room with 2 new Sunbrella sofas, a loveseat, comfy chairs, WIFI, many toys and games, etc.

Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and two full baths - the two beautiful queen bedrooms both have water views, one with private bath, the other with a walk-out water view deck. From that deck there is a spiral staircase to the observation deck with water views & often gorgeous sunsets over the inlet. There is also a cute, nautically themed 3rd bedroom that sleeps 3, with bunk beds and a single twin. Both upstairs baths are spacious with full tub/showers and double Corian sinks, custom cabinetry, etc.

In the walkout basement, there are both ping pong and pool tables, sofas for hanging out and watching the games, and lots of beach toys, boogie boards, skim boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, beach umbrellas, strollers, and a fun red wagon to haul stuff in. This is also where the washer, dryer, iron and ironing board are.

Total inside square footage is 3,800. Outside of the house are 610 sq. ft of 4 big decks, furnished with multiple tables and chairs, lounges, etc. With all this space, there is plenty of room for folks to move around and spread out.

The house is built of natural woods and is low allergy/non toxic, as are our cleaning products. To honor our guests who have allergies, no smoking or pets are allowed. Our flower gardens and lawns are all organic and chemical free. For outside play on our nice flat lawn, we offer a croquet set and a large bin of various balls, racquets, frisbees, etc. As well as 2 lounges and a great hammock for relaxing.....

We do not require a security deposit, but we ask that you alert us if anything breaks or needs replacing. Check in is simple and we are always available to help with any of your questions or concerns. In the meantime, we are happy to email you lots more photos.

The shoulder season of May/June and Sept/Oct are much less expensive but equally nice as there are fewer crowds but still lots to do and often wonderful weather. The 3rd weekend in Sept. offers the many free, fun events in Orleans called ''Celebrate Our Waters''. October has the wonderful Orleans Clam BBQ and the Wellfleet Oysterfest.

We have an extensive library of humor books -Dilbert, Calvin and Hobbs, Doonsbury, Garfield, New Yorker, etc. Also, a large section of non- fiction books, cookbooks, Cape Cod guidebooks, top fiction and a wonderful children's book collection and some quaint vintage such as the Nancy Drew series. Another shelf has over 450 DVDs many of them HD. Plus a 55'' HD TV with Comcast cable in the cottage. There are numerous games, puzzles, a set of blocks, cars and trucks, many, many toys. Like other items in the house and kitchen, many of the toys are replaced annually as they show dirt or wear.

For children's use we have: a Pack N Play, 2 high chairs, 2 booster seats, diaper pail, waterproof pads for beds, 1 baby gate, loads of toys and games both inside and out, child size boogie boards, sand and beach toys, child size beach chairs, floaties and a few water vests, etc. You are responsible for their safe usage.

With all these items provided, you do not have to pack and bring so many items yourself -- just bring your own sheets and towels!

    Priscilla House

My family has been coming to the Cape for the last 47 years. Owned a few homes in Orleans throughout the years but for the most part we're renters. This was our first year renting Priscilla and it's high on the list as a favorite. The house is beautiful with the classic Cape Cod look and feel with an updated interior. Very clean, lots of space (indoor and outdoor). Nestled in a section of Orleans that I've only seen from a boat and honestly never knew was a residential area. What a great little part of town with such a private community feel. Our favorite part was the unreal views you get from not only the observation deck, but the short walk (maybe .10 mile) down to the beach for gorgeous sunsets. Hope to be back next summer. Thanks Ken for being such a great host. show more show less

    Another great week

We have been renting a Nauset house in Orleans every year for the last 8 or 9 years. Once again, it did not disappoint. We always have a great time enjoying the beach, golfing, restaurants and pubs. we are already looking forward to our next years visit.

Thanks John, always a pleasure hosting you and friends. The new induction stove thinks that it's smarter than it really is -- we're considering whether it makes sense to upgrade, so stay tuned. Will look forward to seeing you again in 2024.

My family continues to love Nauset Beach House

My family has vacationed here for 5 years. And, barring unforeseen circumstances, 2024 will be our 6th. This place is fully equipped and all appliances worked well. The yard is beautifully landscaped with plenty of space to play. The spiral staircase to the platform on the roof is so special….catching sunrises (which we did not do…but should), sunsets which was done every night, morning coffees….the kids loved this. The pool table and ping pong table in the basement, again, provided lots of fun. Some people needed to work remotely which was no problem due to the strong Wi-Fi. My husband and I always take the 'cottage'….bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and private entrance. Because I am now wheelchair bound, accessibility adjustments were needed, especially in the bathroom. I am grateful to the owners for making the shower and toilet accessible for me. The neighborhood access to Nauset Beach was used daily. The kids know it well and love it. We look forward to our return next year. show more show less

I found this house to be very welcoming

I found this house to be very welcoming. The living room and kitchen worked really well when we (six or eight) cooked and visited simultaneously (one of my favorite activities). But I was also really cozy when I was strictly on my own. The light on both floors of the main house was wonderful. I didn't stay in the back apartment, but it seemed pretty together and very private. The deck on the back porch (table and chairs) was also great for all of us to hang out, as was the yard. Really nicely decorated, great art, excellent kitchen, beautiful hiking right out the front door. Oh, and a cool high-flying rooftop deck for sipping and watching the world. I'd do it again.

    Location and Atmosphere

This was my 2nd visit to this home in East Orleans, 13 months after the 1st, and I expect I will have more.
I probably wrote more detail last year, but there are two features of the property that make it particularly appealing to me.
The first is its location, only about 2 houses away from the entrance to the southeast bank of Mill Pond. While one can walk to the ocean, only about 600 yards to the East, over a small dune, I think the pond is a better place to adjoin. It stretches a couple of miles to the North, with a variety of islands and marshes, offers varying appearances and experiences, depending on the tide, and is generally quite calm. So it's great for both walks and kayaking. Also, the house is only a short drive to the beach entrance where you can take your vehicle clear down the beach to Pleasant Bay, opposite Chatham.
The second particularly appealing feature of the property is its layout, which includes an excellent communal space, as well as several more private ones. The communal area is a combination LR, DR, & kitchen, with lots of windows and natural light, and a large kitchen island where 5 or 6 can gather to watch the cook, drink coffee or eat breakfast.
The more private areas include a small reading room between the main part of the house and the "cottage", the cottage itself (which is like a senate unit, but attached to the main house, a covered porch, 2nd floor deck, and small third floor deck.
Finally, almost as an afterthought, it appears very well maintained and there are lots of toys!!

    Nauset Beach House

We love this place! We love the area of Nauset Heights. It is our 4th time renting this house. It is large enough for our family of 12 to meet as a whole group or in smaller groups. It's location to its beach is convenient. The water is calm and warm for toddlers on up. For this area of Nauset Heights, there is a stairway to Nauset Beach. The Widow's Watch on the roof was a great place to watch the spectacular sunsets or enjoy a morning coffee. My husband and I always take the cottage and kids\grandkids take the upstairs rooms. As with all 4 rentals, there are toys, games, puzzles, and beach paraphernalia. The owner was/is responsive to our needs/questions. He also made changes to the house upon buying it 2 years ago. The WiFi is excellent in all areas. The main room is painted "white" which really is better then the former brown interior. The kitchen is fully equipped so one can cook a meal. There are solar panels. The TV is now in the "Game" Room instead of the Main Room. Nauset Beach House has met our expectations and more. show more show less

    Lovely home away from home

We stayed in Ken and Carol's home during the last week of September. The home is beautiful and well equipped with everything you may need for your stay. Our group included young toddlers and grandparents, so having the in-law cottage was so key! The house has plenty of space to spread out and relax. Even though we didn't stay during prime beach season, we still took the quick walk down the beach daily. The location cannot be beat.

We have been staying on the cape for 20+ years and this is by far our favorite home we have rented. Thanks Ken and Carol. show more show less

    Convenient and Private

We recently completed a week-long visit at this home.

The first thing that impressed me about the property was its convenience - both geographically and to live in. Geographically, it is only about 100 yards from the beach of Priscilla's Landing on Nauset Harbor. You can kayak all around that huge harbor, and take long walks around much of its perimeter. The ocean is less than a mile walk to the east, and peaceful little Mill Pond (in which we saw 2 seals one day, and dozens of fish jumping for about 10 minutes) is just a little way to the west once you hit the beach.

A lot of Orleans is accessible on fairly quiet streets by bike, too, so it enhances the visit to bring a bike and kayak if you can. But we enjoyed the vistas just walking the neighborhood, too.

Then there is the convenience of the way the house is laid out. The kitchen, DR, and LR are basically all one big room, so people can easily talk with one another, or do their own thing in close proximity. There is a balcony on the second floor and then a smaller one on the 3rd level, from which you can see a panorama from the ocean, most of Nauset Bay, and Mill Pond, plus a great sunset.

The ambience is very light but also rustic, with high, beamed ceilings, lots of natural light with the many windows, and undoubtedly the largest library of books and possibly the largest collection of puzzles/games of any rental I've seen.

Finally, from a privacy perspective, the house is secluded behind natural shrubbery. But more important are the various private spaces within the house itself. As I mentioned before, there are balconies on both the 2nd a 3rd levels. Then there is both a front and back porch. (On the back porch one day, within the span of only 30 minutes, I watched about 6 varieties of birds - robins, doves, goldfinches, jays, blackbirds, a couple smaller ones - both share and compete over space in the yard while pecking around for food. In addition, a chipmunk was getting in on the action and a hawk swooped in and out.) plus, on the first floor, there is essentially an entirely separate apartment on the west side of the house, with its own bedroom, bath, kitchen, eating area, and sitting room that even featured a fireplace.

All in all, a very satisfying place to spend a week or 3, and recharge your batteries!

    Nauset Beach House

Our week stay at Nauset Beach House was fantastic! Our host, Ken, was very helpful and communicative.

The house is beautiful and spacious, and accommodated our group of 10 comfortably. The connected cottage was perfect for the grandparents. The view from the upper deck was spectacular. The house is approximately a 15-minute walk to the beach and a stone's throw from Priscilla's landing, where you can launch a kayak. Nauset Heights is a gorgeous and peaceful part of the Cape. We loved the house and location! show more show less

    Wonderful Vacation Home and Location!

We stayed in the home for the first time this past June - 12 of us from an extended family and it was absolutely perfect! The house is bright, clean and spacious; the yard and gardens are lovely; there are multiple decks with lots of seating; the view from the roof deck is beautiful. Nice to have a dining table that seats everyone and lots of comfy seating in the living room.

Nauset beach and a calm inlet are right there - so nice to vacation where you don't have to buy a beach pass or drive to get to the water!

Ken is an excellent host - very responsive to every question. Our family will definitely plan a return trip.

Hi everyone - from Ken and Carol Rubin, the proud new owners of Nauset Beach House in Nauset Heights. We are delighted to have purchased this property from Richard and Ann, who have been renting the property for many years with outstanding guest reviews.

Carol is a successful artist and after a long career developing water and wastewater projects around the world, Ken is now focused on projects in the US where he helps municipal utilities capture the value in their water and wastewater operations by reusing water, turning wastewater into fertilizer, and applying smart technologies to operations. We've managed other vacation rental properties of our own on the Jersey Shore and in Washington DC, and we're looking forward to meeting new friends on the Cape.

What is special about this property?
Nauset Beach House is perched above Mill Pond and Nauset Beach, with spectacular views from the second and third floor decks. We're just steps from the water and beaches. We love this place -- from the smell of the sea to the sound of crashing waves to the red-orange-yellow sunsets. We hope you will, too!

What is special about your town?
Orleans has everything you'll need for a special vacation -- restaurants, grocery stores, gourmet shops, summer baseball, theater, beaches, freshwater ponds, bike paths, galleries, and on and on. The beaches are the best on the Cape (no bias here!). Everything is accessible. Crowds are rarely a problem in Orleans.
