Locust Retreat
Orleans, Centrally Located Vacation Rental - ID 36017

My wife, sister and I stayed at "Locust Retreat" from September 20-27, 2025, and had a wonderful time. The location of the home is a big "selling point." Located centrally in Orleans, it is super easy to get out and about by car, bike or foot power. Plus, everything you might want to do locally is very close, making places like the popular Cottage Street Bakery, Cookes seafood restaurant, Sir Cricket's, the Nauset Fish Market, the Hot Chocolate Sparrow, the Stop & Shop grocery store, bike shops and other quaint shops and stores in Orleans very convenient to access. Also close by is access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail for biking, walking or jogging, as well as Skaket Beach and Rock Harbor for their beautiful sunsets. The "retreat" itself was very well appointed. We each had our own bedroom and mine had one of the most comfortable mattresses I've ever slept on. My wife and sister made similar comments on their beds. The amenities and extras that were available also meant we didn't need to go to the store to get necessary items we may have forgotten to bring with us. All in all, the house was very cozy and comfortable. We are all a bit older, but we experienced no sore backs from furniture that has seen better days as you often find in vacation homes. The sofas and chairs were all very easy on our old bodies! Both bathrooms were in great condition and easy to get in and out of. The shower in the Master Bath was very nice. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare and eat meals "in house" on those days you are not planning on eating out. There are two good sized Smart TV's available, one in the front living room and the other in the combination library/den/TV room. If you subscribe to a streaming service, make sure you bring your User Name and Password and you can watch your shows just like you do at home. We subscribe to HULU and had that on in the evenings to "watch the tube" and it was so easy. No guessing and frustration from trying to figure how to get the #$&@! TV to work like you can experience in many hotels/motels/vacation homes that seem designed to rattle your brain. Finally, your hosts, retreat owners Patrick and Leisel, were very easy to work with the to set up our comings and goings for our week on the Cape. We worked mainly with Patrick and he was exceptionally responsive to any questions we had and always responded within a day or two. He was also very patient when my use of Priority Mail to get a signed lease agreement back to him in a timely fashion turned out to be not too timely at all. To make what could be a long story short...Patrick was easy to work with! To wrap this up, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Locust Retreat in the heart of Orleans. The price was very affordable for a week on the Cape and the comfort and convenience of staying here meant we had no worries or concerns and could just enjoy our time every day on "Olde Cape Cod." show more show less
