We built the house and moved to Orleans in 2014. We rented successfully for several years, going up to Vermont to stay with our daughter and son in law. When they moved, we spent some summers on the Cape, then last year we signed with DelMar. They were booked solid for three months, at a significantly higher rate than our per week price. (In the years we've rented our house we've always had good review and high ratings.) The minimum to rent with DelMar was 5 months, which turned out to be too long to be away from the Cape. Our other daughter and son in law live in Maine, and this summer we wanted to spend a couple of months in Maine to be closer to them and decided to rent for a much shorter time period.
What is special about this property?
It's a beautiful house, with wonderful light and a great layout. It's a terrific house that can accomodate a multigenerational family (or a not so multigenerational), or a group of friends coming to the Cape for an art workshop, birding, visiting lighthouses or just relaxing and having fun. If it's hot, the pool is always refreshing.
Downtown Orleans with its restaurants and shops is easily accessible as are both Skaket and Nauset beaches. And, it's an easy walk to either Crystal or Pilgrim lake (hint: go via the field below the house, follow the little road to your right to Old Timers, turn right, then left and you're there). Both lakes are wonderful for kayaking, boarding, swimming, fishing, and hiking.
What is special about your town?
Orleans is ideally situated at the elbow of Cape Cod, so anywhere else on the Cape is at a reasonable distance, for example, Provincetown is 26.8 miles away, Hyannis is 21 miles, probably the furthest is Woods Hole in Falmouth (always worth the trip) it's aboout 56 miles. But, you really never need to leave Orleans, there's so much to do: restaurants and shops to visit, catch a play at the Academy of Performing Arts, daily live music throughtout town, galleries, hiking (Nickerson State Park), a farmers market on Saturday, great coffee and pastries at Sparrows, and so much good ice cream (Ice Cream Cafe is our favorite)!
