    Great vacation home

We rented this wonderful cottage for a week. It exceeded our expectations. The kitchen is huge and well equipped, the master bedroom has a ceiling fan and the second bedroom has a floor fan. There is also an air conditioner for very hot weather which we didn't have to use as the weather was on the cool side. There are many windows throughout the cottage to let in the fresh Cape Cod air and breezes. We had such a nice time relaxing, going to Nauset Beach (which is only a five minute ride from the cottage), having lots of fresh fish and clams for dinner, and sitting on the deck in the evening. The owners seemed to think of everything to help make their cottage feel like a home away from home. The neighborhood is great...quiet yet close to the center of town which we loved. If you like oysters on the half shell, Joe's Bar and Grille has a special every day of $1 an oyster from 4-6pm of which definitely took advantage. The cottage owners were very nice to work with and very accommodating. We highly recommend renting this cottage and will definitely stay here again.

Note: If you plan to go to Nauset Beach a lot, bring your lease so that you can get the renter's rate of $60 for the week.

We loved everything about this vacation home, because it exceeded our expectations. The pics don't do it justice. It is bigger than it looks, with a comfy roomy eat in kitchen that became command central morning, noon, and evening. The kitchen had everything we needed-coffee maker, spices, lobster pot, and dishes. We also loved hanging out on the deck and living room that were connected by wide sliding glass doors. The master bedroom felt private, and the 2nd bedroom with 2 twnis (each with a trundle bed) had windows on three sides and a door to the outdoors, so that it felt like sleeping on a porch with a cross draft that allowed sweet summer breezes to flow. But if there was no breeze, an air conditioner took the edge off the heat. There was a little screened in porch at the front door, that at first looked too small to be useful, but it ended up being a nice alternative when you wanted time alone reading or to talk privately with someone. When I think back on it, I realize that there were lots of great little spaces tucked here and there to enjoy depending on the time of day, number of people, and your mood. The neighborhood is quaint and here and there you glimpse clues that this area belongs to another time and place. Walking or biking allows you time to enjoy your surroundings. The location was great, because you are on Barley Neck which is a neck of land surrounded by water on three sides. Across the street was a beautiful sunny farmer's field that must've been there for over a hundred years-maybe 200. The whole area felt like something from the past when people knew their neighbors and shared stories over the fence. My only regret is that there's no openings for us this year! Sigh.... show more show less
