Description

Charming rustic 1920s vintage cottage. This lovely 1920's cottage is minutes from the beach on a small lane at the edge of Siasconset Village. This original cottage is fully equipped with 2 bedrooms (one bedroom with a queen bed and one bedroom with twin beds; there is also a sleeping porch with one double bed and an additional pull out double bed). There is one bathroom with a claw footed tub/shower and an outdoor private shower. A large wrap-around deck with picnic table and lounge chairs is perfect for dining and entertaining.

The rustic cottage is charmingly decorated with Nantucket memorabilia and nautical art. There is High Speed Internet and Cable TV. Most guests find it relaxing to park their cars and have no need to drive once they arrive at the cottage.

It is a short walk to the beaches, ocean and 'Sconset Village where you will find several gourmet restaurants, a market, sandwich shop, 'Sconset Cafe, post office, liquor store, and a quaint movie theatre. The Chanticleer Restaurant, The Summer House Restaurant, and Summer House Beachside Bistro are known for excellent dining and are within walking distance. The island's shuttle bus stops at the corner if you would like to go into Nantucket town and explore other parts of the island. The island bike path is located close by. From the cottage location, expect privacy and gorgeous sunset views from the large outside mahogany deck.

Old school charm at its best!

The cottage was truly rustic and gave the impression of what life on Nantucket must have been like in the early part of the 20th century; uneven floors, theme of the decorating and artwork, and wood burning stove gave it a great feel. Although rustic through and through, there was air conditioning, good lighting, TV, plenty of hot water and comfortable beds throughout. It was spotless and perfectly clean as well. It was a great place to start and end your day on Nantucket. And Barbara is a perfect host, helpful, available, and so pleasant to work with. We would definitely stay here again! show more show less

LOVED staying in Barbara's home in Sconset. Super charming and "old school" in the best of ways! Super comfy beds always make for a wonderful sleep. Spent lots of time outside on the wrap-around deck and biking to market and beach. Cottage was very clean upon arrival and outfitted with all one's needs. Barb is an excellent host and makes one's stay very personal. I highly recommend this home!Less

It's rare to have you're every expectation fulfilled, especially when those expectations have been building all winter about a vacation of seven days. But Nantucket is the destination it is because of its ability to do just that; its rare to meet anyone who leaves this island unsatisfied, and of this lovely 'Sconset cottage I can guarantee the same. Mornings in the old claw-foot bathtub, afternoons walking the interminable beach, and casual evenings at the piano bar. Sitting on the porch at night you can often hear the waves crashing. I started my car for the first time in seven days and drove away over-satisfied, as Nantucket is famous for leaving one, and as this cottage in 'Sconset will surely enable you. I could go into detail about the kitchen and the living room, but those are very small details in the shadow of what I left with: my every expectation fulfilled. If you're coming to Nantucket, come to this cottage. It's a rare place. show more show less

Great House
My family and I had fantastic week. The cottage was exactly as advertised and all necessary accoutrements were provided (clean linens, appliances, utensils, etc., etc…). The home was clean, charming and relaxing. The only reason I’m reluctant to say all of this is because I want the place to be available next year, but I owe it to the owner to give a nice review because of the ease and graciousness of the entire experience. We were very happy there.

Siasconset Cottage
Ever since living on the Cape 25 years ago for a short time, we have always wanted to visit Nantucket. This year, with our kids all grown up, we decided to spend our family summer vacation on this island to get away from it all. We were looking for a cottage to stay in that was near a beach and away from the big town. After much searching my top pick was this quaint cottage in 'Sconset. When I inquired about availability I received a quick response from Barb (the owner) and after talking with her I was sold. We were not disappointed! Although it was a little hard to find, once there we fell in love with the place. Private and quiet we found this cottage quite charmingly decorated with all sorts of nautically themed paintings, antiques, etc. Sleeping arrangements for our family of 5 was perfect. We loved the old fashioned tub for showering. The kitchen had everything we needed. The town of 'Sconset was quite charming as well and the beach was really nice (although the water was quite chilly). Food at the local market was a little expensive and they only took cash. We rented mopeds for the week which was a wonderful way to explore the entire island. The bus system on the island was also excellent and very inexpensive. We loved exploring the town of Nantucket with its many stores, shops and restaurants. The Whaling Museum and Lifesaving Museum were fantastic. We took a harbor cruise on my wife's birthday that we thoroughly enjoyed. We visited Brant Point Lighthouse and Sankaty Lighthouse -- both were located in very picturesque settings and were a photographer's dream. All in all it was one of our best family vacations ever. I would highly recommend staying in 'Sconset in this cozy little cottage to anyone who wants to fully enjoy all of Nantucket's many charms.

We have been on Nantucket since the 1970s. The island, especially Siasconset holds a special magic and charm. We still love exploring the Island and its 70 miles of beaches.
The Nantucket history is fascinating and we enjoy the historic community and museums.

What is special about this property?
Siasconset is coolest place on the East coast. We love the privacy of the cottage and the convenience to Sconset town.

What is special about your town?
Siasconset is probably the most picturesque and lovely town.
