Description

Description

Spacious, open and airy fully furnished home situated across from large conservation area with scenic views of Swan River and a short casual walk to the beach, about 1400'. Perfect combination of accommodations, large yard, privacy, views and location, location, location!

This 3-bedroom, 3 full bath home sleeps 6 on the 1st floor. Master with king bed, one with queen and one with two twins. Washer and dryer in utility room. Open floor plan on the 2nd floor with beamed cathedral ceilings, 3 large sliding doors to large deck, lots of windows, 3 skylights and 3 lighted ceiling fans. The upstairs is open living area. Half is living room and the other half is kitchen and dining area. Master BR has full bath with shower stall, full bathroom with tub/shower combo on 1st floor and full bath with tub/shower combo on 2nd floor. But it is unlikely you'll elect to take an indoor shower when you take one in the new outdoor shower on the back deck!

The home sits on a half acre of land with a spacious back yard perfect for playing yard games, throwing a baseball, practicing soccer, playing cornhole, whatever games and equipment you’d like to bring. Two large decks on the front of the house provide ample space for outdoor dining and relaxing/sunbathing, with great views of Swan River, and Conservation Land from upper deck! Upper deck has a gas grill, patio dining, lounges and perfect for night stargazing. Enjoy grilling while overlooking vista views of Swan River, conservation land and the Osprey’s nest on Swan River right around the corner from the house. Lower deck is a great hangout if you're looking for shade or hanging while waiting for people to be ready to head out.

Please note that, while there isn't AC, there is customarily a nice ocean breeze. There are fans in the bedrooms which, with windows open, it's always been quite comfortable barring those minimal # of ''dog days of summer''. Upstairs has three ceiling fans and there are floor fans in each of the bedrooms.

South Village Beach is a short distance and easy walk. West Dennis Beach is a 5 minute car ride or 8 minute bike ride. You can drop everyone off at the beach, go back, grab one of the bikes, cruise back and enjoy your day. Truly a wonderful home to enjoy your summer, spring or fall vacation.

House has been renovated with new exterior trim and siding. New deck boards on upper deck. King, queen and twin bedrooms have been newly painted with new vinyl plank floors installed. Pictures are being updated as work is completed. I hope to post an aerial drone video to show proximity to Swan River, the Atlantic and South Village Beach.

Sheets, linens and towels provided. Large-screen tv's in living room and master BR (Inet TV apps), Sonos stereo, indoor game table and wide selection of games, outdoor games, 4 bicycles, beach chairs and umbrellas and a bunch of other amenities to make your stay comfortable.

It is truly a distinctive and rare property!

Better Than Being On The Beach

Gorgeous! This was our fourth summer renting on Cape Cod and is the best home we've stayed at yet. We spent a little more than usual this year and it was well worth it. We are 2 parents, 2 small children and 2 grandparents. The 3 bedrooms on the first floor were perfect for us and the cathedral beamed ceilings on the second floor is amazing. The open floor plan is wonderful with lots of glass, windows and sliding doors on the second floor. We love the décor throughout the house.

We ate almost every night on the large upper deck and cooked on the grill. There is plenty of space in the kitchen which has more than we needed in the way of utensils, appliances and dishes. The deck and views of Swan River are fantastic. It's not on the beach but you feel like you are right there by the ocean.

There are 3 bathrooms in the house, 2 with tubs to bath our children but the outdoor shower on the rear deck is best of all. We coaxed our son (6 years old) to take a shower with his dad and, after his first shower, he was sold. He asked us if he could take another shower the next morning! Now he wants us to build an outdoor shower at home, "like Jim's". LOL

The yard is very large and only a 5 minute walk to the beach with our children in tow. We found a nice spot on the beach that was protected from the open ocean and shallow enough for our children to play in the water and watch other children catch crabs and minnows. Looks like crab nets are is in their future!

Jim was great, easy to work with and very accommodating. We will definitely return this summer and think we found our vacation "home away from home" for years to come.

Thank you for your kind words. "Gorgeous" may be a stretch but "awesome" I'll take! :) It is a special property, in a great location close to the beach and has a real nice lot for privacy and playing outdoors. Thank you for your stay, for your consideration and care of my home and I look forward to your return.

    Great spot on the Cape

Light and bright living space in a great location. Easy access to everything, beach, shopping, restaurants. 3 amazing deck spaces, the top one with lovely sunset views. House is large with a great yard and the outdoor shower is AWESOME. Everything you need for a fantastic vacation. Highly recommend. Jim is a great host!

    Amazing Experience

Can't say enough about this property! The house itself fit our entire family (2 adults and 3 kids) plus we had 2 additional adults with us for half of our time and there was more than enough space! the incredible yard gave the kids plenty of space to run around before and after the very short walk to South Village Beach! The outdoor shower was quite the hot item for us and the kids after coming off the beach, its fantastic to be able to shower off and leave all the sand outside! for someone who cooks, the kitchen was amazing, fully stocked with everything you need to cook! The multi level deck
provides excellent outdoor sitting areas upstairs and down. the upstairs deck has a wonderful propane grill for nice summer cookouts- that overlooks a beautiful osprey nest and the ocean in the distance! the house is a very short walk / bike ride to South Village beach which is a great beach for families of all sizes and ages! we will be staying here for years to come!

it is very clear that Jim puts a lot of effort into maintaining and updating the property in order to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

the host is super friendly and extremely accessible during the stay if you need anything. very welcoming and friendly!

    Fantastic!

This house checks all the boxes. Spacious and comfortable interior, fully stocked kitchen w/plenty of utensils and appliances, outdoor dining area and shower and a huge yard for games. Smart TVs in every room for those rainy days! The location puts you close enough for a walk to the beach and it's only a short drive to bustling town centers. We recently did a drive-by and caught up with the owner. He was installing brand new floors and had the siding refinished as well. Can't wait to stay here again!

    Cannot Honestly Recommend

I don't make a habit of giving negative reviews. I always try to be fair and give people the benefit of the doubt.
This house was not ready to be rented...
    * Owner said cleaning woman didn't show up so we were over 2 hours late getting the keys to the house. Had to wait outside. But he offered nothing in return for using up over 2 hours of our family vacation. He left food from the previous renters in the fridge for us to clean out.
    * House was filthy, rug in master was a tripping hazard because of all the wrinkles. He said the carpet was new, but I see he has replaced it. Huge 2' x 2' square hole in the master bath next to toilet. Could see the garage!
    * Framing around front door was unfinished with insulation and dry wall visible all around it. Most windows did not function. Not enough fans because he never hooked up the obvious central air unit that is next to the deck. Most outside lights did not work.
    * On the 2nd day, we asked for a fan for 1 of the bedrooms. The 1990's (we checked the label on back) microwave blew. A good landlord would have apologized and brought another one immediately. He did not offer and almost accused us of breaking it. Blamed water stains on kitchen windows on us. Not our fault if the window wouldn't close. He turned off the ice maker on the fridge so we couldn't use it. We had to use a stick lighter to light the stove.
    * The dining chairs are so old, the finish is sticky and the cushions are stained. The previous table was also old, white with a sticky finish. It made me think that most, if not all, of the furnishings come from his Estate Sales business. That would be fine, if the furnishing were in better shape.
    * Bathroom drawers were broken. Too many "rules of the house" were posted everywhere.
    * Jim showed up to the house an hour before our check-out time with the excuse that he needed to return his Kayak to the garage. He could have given us our privacy as we were packing to leave.
After charging us $3,500 for the week plus cleaning and security fees, he decided to keep a good portion of the fee!!! There was no compromise with him. After many phone conversations and emails, he became verbally abusive to me. We have owned rental properties on Cape Cod and we would NEVER treat our renters the way Jim treated us.
We were a family of 4 responsible adults and our 2 grandchildren (13 and 10) .
I suggest that if you decide to rent this house (which, if done right, could be a fine house), you make sure he doesn't take advantage of you like he did with us. As a side note, his wife owns the house next door. We felt like we were being watched.

    Owner Response:

LOL. All lies and exaggerations. Guests have no regard or respect for people's property. Their review, a year+ later, is all for retaliation and harassment because I kept $200 of their $500 security deposit. They left all the windows open during a driving rain causing water damage to the sides of the kitchen cabinets. The window sills in a bedroom and living room were damaged, the queen bed and sofa got soaked. I could have kept all $500. No apology, harassed me and threatened to sue me for entire stay. My housecleaners cancelled at noon, I gave it a thorough military cleaning from top to bottom. I was working my way down the hallway and out the front door when they arrived. I welcomed them told them they could unload their cars and bring things in and they did while I finished, <1 hr. 3 of the 18 windows a little sticky and needed minor manual assistance, all others worked fine. The stove and grill worked before them and after them. Both sofas were brand new. Ethan Allen kitchen set had antique distressed finish and seat coverings brand new and clean. Outdoor lights work if the inside switches are left on. 2 signs, one in laundry room. I did not advertise AC as the previous owner had never installed it. Previous owner disconnected the ice maker because of a leak. 8 new ice cube trays in refer. They never said a word about anything until I returned their partial deposit.show moreshow less

Hello and thank you for viewing my property. I have a history in the hospitality business having built and operated a family-owned campground on Martha's Vineyard. Having a past connection to Cape Cod and the Vineyard, I permanently made Cape Cod my home in 2004. I purchased the offered rental property in the Spring of 2022 and have been updating and improving it since I bought it. It is a special property and in an excellent location near the beautiful beaches of West Dennis.

What is special about this property?
As the saying goes, ''location, location. location. '' The property is 1400' (a short walk) to South Village Beach and short drive or bike ride to West Dennis Beach. South Village Beach, offers a nice sandy beach to the open ocean and gently wraps around to the Swan River which is wonderful for smaller children and exploring sea-life.

The home is unique being an ''upside.down house'' with 3 bedrooms on the 1st floor and spacious, open living on the 2nd floor. The 1st floor also has 2 full baths, outdoor shower, laundry and 2 decks. The 2nd floor has cathedral ceilings, exposed beams, ceiling fans, lots of glass and 3 sliding doors to a large deck for outdoor living with great views. All of this and more set on 1/2 acre of land across the street from conservation land and the Swan River. There is boat access to the Swan River just around the corner if you have a kayak, paddleboard, canoe or small sailboat.

What is special about your town?
West Dennis is a great location with convenient access to Rte 28 and Rte 6 and offers some of the nicest sandy beaches on Cape Cod. There are many wonderful restaurants and stores nearby within 15-20 minutes in Dennis, Harwich Port and Yarmouth.
