More About Popponesset

Popponesset is a charming beach community located on Nantucket Sound and adjacent to Popponesset Bay. It is part of the town of Mashpee and enjoys proximity to more than 20 golf courses and the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge with its miles of walking trails.

“Poppy,” as it is affectionately called, is very family-oriented. A walking path runs through the area, and the Popponesset Community Center has a playground and offers activities for children.

The lively Poppy Marketplace, open from late spring to early fall, includes outdoor cafes and a raw bar, colorful boutiques, galleries, and mini golf. There’s also live entertainment for the whole family.

Vacationers love to explore “the Spit,” a natural barrier peninsula and wildlife sanctuary that separates Popponesset Bay from Nantucket Sound.

Also nearby are the Cape Cod Children's Museum and the nationally recognized Mashpee Commons, a noted for its New England-style architecture and more than 100 shops and restaurants.
