During my 11 years of living on the Cape, I have discovered many special places that help relax my mind and compel me to marvel at this amazing area. Fort Hill in Eastham is one of those alluring spots, and every time I visit, I feel grateful that I live here.
I remember the first time I discovered Fort Hill on a crisp spring day. We walked down the path and explored the Red Maple Swamp trail. The one-mile, winding boardwalk weaves through trees and marsh area. We felt instantly transported to a jungle adventure and a million miles away from civilization.
The panoramic views from the parking area provide miles of views of the ocean and Nauset marsh. Look to the north to see the Coast Guard Station and swing south to view Nauset Beach. Whether I gaze at the view from my car or walk the trails, I feel transported to a majestic place, full of beauty and peace.
