Amazing rental. Dream come true, amenities and location

We traveled to Cape Cod for a week getaway. Amazing house and Cheryl is an experienced person to rent from (read: not neurotic). The house has towels, laundry room, air conditioning, kayaks, firepit, upper and lower porches, sleeps ten (or more, frankly).

There are so many things to do without ever getting into your car! There is a private beach across from the house (literally 5 seconds if you walk slowly). There are shops in town (5 minute walk). cute cafes, a few nice restaurants and pizza shop, larger pier and beach if you walk into town (same 5 minutes). souvenirs, canal cruise ship leaves from the pier (still a 5 minute walk).

This house is very well maintained as noted above. it also has board games, a piano(!), plenty of couches, swinging chairs, outdoor shower *after beach*, and so on. Just show up and done!

If you want food or such, you can simply walk into town. if you feel like cooking, there is an oven, a Mr. Coffee, great stove, microwave. stop & shop and other supermarket stores are a 5 minute drive, though there is a cute mini-super market in town that can be walked to.

This is THE house to rent in Onset. Actually, better than going to other parts of the Cape, because all those others are easily accessible (30 minute drive to Hyannis and other parts) without the crazy cost.

Excellent rental house. Great location and amenities!

Our family has rented this home from for 4 of the past 5 years. Yes -- we are return renters and hope to rent it again this coming summer!

We are a NY-based family of 7 (2 adults, 5 kids ranging in age) who get away for a modest vacation once a year. The house itself is charming, large, spacious. Spacious is essential due to our family size. There are enough beds and rooms for everyone -- no one sleeping on a couch! Three of our kids sleep in the upstairs loft (also air conditioned as is the rest of the house), while our other two each take one of their own bedrooms. And my wife and I sleep in the MBR. Plus, did I mentioned there is even an extra bed that my mother-in-law sleeps in when she visits for a night from Boston. It easily sleeps 8, though could likely sleep 10 if someone shared the queen bed in one of the spare bedrooms.

The house is very well maintained (super clean), stocked with games, WiFi, a washer/dryer we use as much as needed (have you ever traveled with 5 kids!). There is a full-size BBQ for use as well as chairs overlooking the bay which has a firepit in front of it. The house also has kayaks for use, as well as a stand-up paddleboard and beach equipment. The air conditioners in all rooms are functional. And to top it off, our son is a devout piano student --they even have a piano in the home!

The location is absolutely ideal. In the 4 years we have rented this home over various summers, we have visited almost all of Cape Cod. Trips to Nauset Beach, Plymouth Plantation, Cape Cod Potato Chip factory, whale watching, and much much more. (We have a map in our home in NY and we mark a "check"in each spot over the years.) It is also a 15 minute drive to Scusset Beach (very pretty and not crowded). There are also some days when we do not want to drive at all, which is what I most appreciate about this rental--it is directly across from a private beach for the homes in this area. And if you want to talk to Onset Beach itself, it is 60 seconds across the road. We walk to town for ice cream, shopping, free concerts at the Bandshell and more. Absolutely prime location.

Furthermore, our family keeps kosher. We bring our own food, pots, portable BBQ, etc. There is a synagogue that is a 4 minute walk from the house. Great for shabbat and weekdays. The owners allow us to keep out pots the past couple of years in a small space in the lower level basement. Now, if that is not "opening up your home to strangers"... I don't know what is!

Cheryl and her husband are a breeze to rent from. They email a contract. I sign it with a deposit and pop it in the mail. She mails back a countersigned copy. They are thoughtful and treat you as they would want to be treated if they were renting.

To summarize, we stayed in this house the past few years (and hope to be able to stay again this year if the week is avail). Other than clothes and food, we did not have to bring anything--kayaks, sheets, towels, rafts, firewood(!) -- all included The village we walk to daily has great coffee, pizza (non-kosher, but world class reputation), a barber shop with old fashioned excellent service, and more.

This is a gem of a rental. Snap it up while the weeks are open. (I would give this 10 stars if I could!)

Great Vacation getaway - Didn't need to bring anything

We stayed in this house last year. We did not have to bring anything. The owners supplied kayaks, stand up paddle board, floating rafts, towels, sheets, and everything you need for a vacation getaway.

We also did not have to even get in our car. The village has everything you need -- a few restaurants, pizza place, grocery store, coffee shop. Truly a great vacation.

The house was great. The downstairs was basically one big room with an affronting porch and porch swing that my kids loved. There were air conditioners in every bedroom.

If you want a vacation home with everything, then this is it.

Liked the area, house not that much

I stayed there two years ago. The house was old and hot. The downstairs bathroom did not work. Upstairs bathroom was old and bath slow to drain. Many of the rooms did not have ac and were very hot. It was not very clean when I came. Compared to other rentals, the owners were not that welcoming. Other rental owners left nice notes and suggestions about area, not this one. Neighbors were nice.

    Owner Response:

This person was a first time renter of properties ever. I responded to 20 emails from her on where to find kosher meats, playgrounds she could take her grandson to, suggestions for long and short day trips when all of this information is available on the internet. I graciously got her bus lines for her children coming from Brookline, also something she could have gotten herself. i don't know how I could have been any nicer. She was the neediest renter I have ever had, and I have been renting this property for 10 years.

Both of the bathrooms work fine, and I never heard a complaint from her when she got to the house, or I would have addressed it. The house sits on the water and has a great breeze. We choose not to have a/c in the bottom of the house because it's not necessary and it's one big open room that a window air conditioner would nor fit in. We inform renters of that. There are air conditioners in the bedrooms for sleeping. Clearly this was just not what the renter was looking for. Her idea of a vacation rental and mine are different.

We loved staying at this perfect waterfront home so much we are staying again this year. This charming home is in a great location. The beach is literally at your front porch. Town and many other activities are in walking distance. We stayed in this home with 6 adults and four children ranging from the age of 18 months to age 12 and the house was perfect for all of us. The added upstairs floor was a great space for the kids to play. Bedrooms are great sizes too. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and house was fully equipped, clean and comfortable. We can't wait to watch the sunset from the porch again this year. show more show less

I love the look on renters faces when they see the property in person. I get a lot of joy knowing that people will be enjoying our home the same way that we do. Summer memories/vacations are the best and am happy to share my home so people can have the same experience.

What is special about this property?
This property is wide open floor plan on the first floor. I love it. The cross wind from the ocean breeze flows through the house. You can also see the water from every section.

What is special about your town?
Onset is a hidden gem. Culturally diverse, easy to walk everywhere, lots to too. A quintessential old school beach town.
