Description

For a classic New England vacation spend time in our charming cottage located in the unique village of Craigville. Have cocktails on the screened porch with a view of Lake Elizabeth and Nantucket Sound in the distance or take a nap in the hammock room just off the porch after a full day at the beach. The beach is only 2/10 of mile walk on the delightful ''midway'' that meanders between two rows of lovely cottage homes and gardens, then on to the bluff and down the lovingly named ''forty steps'' to the popular Craigville Beaches.

Built in 1890, this Cape Cod gem has oodles of antique charm. Outside there is a patio with a grill, a charming wrap around porch and an outdoor shower. The first level has a full kitchen with cooktop range, oven, dishwasher and large fridge, a spacious dining room, a twin bedroom & full bath. The 2nd level has a queen bedroom, a family room with a flat screen TV, a screened porch with rocking chairs and a large bright wicker living room. The 3rd level has a full bath with a claw foot tub & walk-in shower and three additional bedrooms(1 king room, room with 3 twins, kids room with a bunk bed & 1 twin).

Craigville Village is like a page torn from ''Yankee Magazine''. The unique family oriented village includes wholesome activities such as fishing in the two fresh water lakes, a historic tabernacle that holds Sunday service with visiting ministers as well as host to activities and entertainment, and a three court tennis club offering children's clinics, adult round robins and private lessons. Adults and children alike will enjoy the “green” complete with a volleyball court, space to run and play with a small adjacent playground, a historical post office with souvenirs for sale and shady benches to relax on.

In close proximity to Craigville are some popular landmarks such as the famed ''Four Seas Ice Cream'' store, the newly renovated Centerville Library with children's programs, an 1800's General Penny Candy Store with a playground across the street, the Centerville Historical Museum, the Sandwich Glass Factory, the Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory and the Cape Cod Brewery.

If you want a break from the beach, there is the 36 hole Hyannis Public Golf Course just 10 minutes away and the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a paved 25 mile bike/hike trail that passes through various Cape towns where you can take a break for lunch or tour a winery or brewery (bike rental shops are nearby the trail). For day trips there are ferry boats that leave from Hyannis to lovely Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard several times a day, whale watching trips, and Provincetown which is a delightful eclectic town at the tip of the Cape.

The nearby town of Hyannis has gone through a recent revival. There are a number of wonderful restaurants, bars and stores for some adult enjoyment, a bowling alley and several nearby mini golf locations.

Come stay in our home and enjoy a relaxing Norman Rockwell style vacation in one of a kind Craigville Village.

    Amazing Beach Cottage

Amazing Beach Cottage. Great location walking distance from Covell Beach in the middle of Craigsville Village. Loved the location for our little kids, lots to do in Craigsville, Osterville and Hyannis.

Judy was great to deal with. She was helpful and honest. We would definitely go back again!

    Spacious Quaint Cape Cottage

We had a fantastic stay at this traditional Cape Cod house. There was plenty of space for our 2 families with room to spare. The owners recently added a lovely full bathroom downstairs as well as updated washer/dryer. The location of this home is in a gorgeous little area around Lake Elizabeth. There is a playground and park green within walking distance and the roads are very quiet making it perfect for a 5 min bike ride to Craigville beach. Every evening we enjoyed sitting on the many rocking chairs on both the screened in and open porches that surround the home. There is no AC in this home but by night, usually a nice breeze and fans help keep the rooms cool. The owner of the home is lovely, very accommodating and easy to get in touch with should there by any issues or concerns. We would definitely rent this house again! show more show less

    "Best time ever"

We spent the week of July 17-24 at the Craigville cottage . This is no cottage. it is a good old beach house. Reminded me of the beach house I grew up in. 3 levels of living. On the 1st fl was a great front porch that overlooks a pond. We spent most of our time here. We ate here and just hung out watching the ospreys in the pond. The kitchen had everything you will need and more. Full bathroom ,laundry, 1 bedroom , dining room and a door to the side yard and outside shower. 2nd fl has 2 living room spaces that the kids loved to play in and a bedroom . also a large wrap around porch . The front part of the porch was screened in . We called this the last call porch . I'm sure you can figure out why. and the side porch has a walk out to the side yard. between the 2 was a corner room with a large hammock. 3rd fl has 3 bedrooms and full bath with a claw foot tub that the kids could swim in . From the 2nd fl a door takes you out to a foot path thru the village. I had my 2 small grandkids and we felt comfortable letting them roam around. Nice walking to common area with small playground or a short walk to the beach. We drove to the beach as we had to much to carry and my family has a house across the street for parking. We did nothing all week but beach and stay at the house. Anyone that came to visit could not believe the house and the location . this was really a great family vacation home . Not fancy just comfy. My 5 year old grandson would say every day 'THIS IS THE BEST TIME EVER " Thank you Judy for sharing your home, and we will be back. Oh - Judy was a super host. Made sure the house was extra clean with all that's going on . Had lots of things in the kitchen for everyday needs . And gave us the option to back out if we wanted due to Covid-19. So glad we didn't. This is truly a slice of heaven. show more show less

Great House + Great House = Great times

This was our 4th year staying at this cottage. Great times had by all. It is the perfect house for a big summer vacation week. Our kids can't wait to go back to the cottage every year! The house is so spacious, kid friendly and right in the center of the village. Perfect house when you have guests come and visit during the week, there is plenty of room. We can't wait to go back!

We just love this house! This is our second year and once again we had a great time. The house is charming and full of character. It's a great house for families, we have three little ones and they just love it. Great places to sit and enjoy the beautiful views and weather. There is no A/C so it is a gamble with weather but they have lots of fans to help keep it cool and the breeze off the beach is generally enough because it is up on a hill. The owners are very helpful and always accommodating!

Perfect Spot for a Cape Cod Family Vacation

Perfect Spot for a Cape Cod Family Vacation. Cozy living space for families to bond. The children feel like they are in Neverland every time they come back to this house and cry when they leave. We have stayed at many places throughout the country, and we have never had a host make us feel more welcome than Judy. She pays attention to make sure you have everything you need right at your fingertips.

    Great home for families!!

This place was so great for our family and the village it is in has so many fun activities for kids to enjoy! Everything is well furnished and the kitchen had everything we needed. Open up all the windows and enjoy the breeze on all the wonderful porches. With all the open windows and the homes close together we did have to get used to being aware of neighbors and our noise level (3 little kids with not much awareness). We loved it and hope to come back!

    Craigville Getaway

Location location location! The perfect Cape get away with easy walk to the beach. It's a great beach that you can walk and walk for a long time to burn off the yummy pizza and ice cream from places you need to frequent nearby. Beautiful beach neighborhood. Easy drive into Hyannis. The house is charming, relaxing, and the beds are very comfortable. Lots of areas for all to gather, yet plenty of area to have your own space.

    Craigville Cottage

We stepped back in time for two weeks this summer. Our stay was peaceful as we enjoyed the views of Lake Elizabeth from the front porch hammock. Rambled along the Midway in the evening enjoying the ocean breeze and took the 40 stairs down to the beach. Memories were created while visiting the historic post office for souvenirs, watching for pirates at the playground, looking for the perfect summmer read at the Tabernacle and oil painting with the Craigville Painters. Can't wait to visit Craigville again. Thank you! show more show less

I am one of the lucky Craigville vacation home owners that has been coming to Craigville since I was born some 50+ years ago. My Great-grandparents used to work at the Inn. My grandparents bought a house in Craigville for $2000 dollars about 75 years ago and passed it on to my parents who then passed it on to my brother and his family. We were thrilled when this cottage came up for sale just across the street from our old family cottage and we scooped it up even though we had to scrape together the money since we had three kids in college at the time! It has been well worth it since we have now been enjoying it since 2014. We rent it out a few weeks each summer to help pay the taxes and bills, and we use it when it isn't rented as much as possible.

What is special about this property?
We love the charm and character of this old cottage. It is far from luxurious with its antique nooks and crannies to explore, but more than comfortable for a big family. One of its most pleasing attributes is all the space it offers. We have three porches to sneak off to if you want some quiet, and with three separate floors, we can have games going on at the huge dining room table, a movie being watched in the family room and work on a puzzle at the ''puzzle table'' in the living room tucked in a quiet corner. All the bedrooms on the third floor offer a peaceful place to sleep while others move around the house.

What is special about your town?
Craigville is a unique little village where I, as a child, was allowed to safely explore the tiny village unaccompanied until dinnertime. In turn, I felt just as comfortable allowing my own children to do the same as they grew up summers in the village. Craigville sponsors several family events including an adorable July 4th parade where all the kids are given decorations to adorn their bikes, wagons or strollers, or Illumination Night, where all the cottages hang lights and paper lanterns to create a wonderland to stroll through on their way to the green to get free FourSeas Ice Cream and listen to a band play. The Tabernacle has free events such as movie night and shows with talented singing and instrumental groups. This is just a few of the things that make Craigville so special. And that doesn't even touch on all the activities in nearby towns.
