Relax & Rejuvenate in Ideal Cottage Setting

Our two week vacation in September on Martha’s Vineyard was wonderful and very relaxing. Mary’s adorable cabin was truly a gem in every way. The cottage was well taken care of and as clean as a whistle! Our only neighbors were the deer and wild turkeys. The beautiful beaches around Chilmark were close enough by car. If you are looking for the perfect spot to get away from the crowds down island, this is the spot. We will definitely return.

This is a lovely cottage for 2 in the green woods between North Road and Middle Road, the prettiest rural roadways on the Vineyard. Get away from the up-Island crowds and congestion, and enjoy staying where an easy drive or bike ride leads to beautiful conservation areas and hidden beaches on the Vineyard Sound side. Also you are a quick trip from Lucy Vincent and Menemsha Beaches.

The cottage is clean, comfortable, well equipped, and nicely decorated, with beautifully maintained lawn and gardens off the deck. A roomy garage had plenty of space for our bikes and kayaks — but one of our favorite days was spent reading on the back yard hammock! show more show less

We rented this sweet, sweet cottage for our first-time trip to the Vineyard, and feel so lucky to have found it. We so enjoyed meeting Mary! She was a very responsive host in advance of our stay, and a very welcoming one for the duration. The cottage was immaculately clean upon arrival.

The cottage is very nicely equipped, and much more spacious than we expected. It is in a very bucolic setting, and we enjoyed the nearby trail network just a short walk from the cottage. This beautifully decorated cottage with everything needed for a comfort and enjoyment is also the perfect place for a restful and restorative stay. Waking up ensconced in nature was a wonderful segue to the hike or beach I would seek out later for the day. Lucy Vincent Beach is the most extraordinary beach on the Island and to be so close to it was a special treat. Besides hiking and going to the beach, I went to art shows and film festivals as well as incomparable restaurants. Mary was helpful in every way, making sure I didn't miss special events. I was at the cottage off season which turned out to be wonderful in that I experienced the day to day lives of the locals on Martha's Vineyard. I had an unforgettable trip and much thanks to Mary for providing this beautiful, pristine cottage as my jumping off place to all Martha's Vineyard has to offer. show more show less

My favorite place on the Vineyard – this cottage is the perfect getaway. As I've described it to friends (when I gush about how much I love it), it has everything you need and nothing you don't.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the tools you need for cooking or baking, a great stove & oven, and a grill on the deck (which is the perfect place for an afternoon cocktail). The bedroom is simple and cleanly designed and the bed and pillows are the most comfortable... not an exaggeration – I love this bed more than my own. The bathroom is spacious and equipped with a washer and dryer (!) and the shower has great water pressure. This place is a true gem. The decor is understated and yet so clearly thought through, from the sweet antique Land O'Lakes sign and local photographs, to the beautiful center island. The cottage feels like home, or should I say, how I dream of my home to be.

This remote location is ideal for unwinding and enjoying the incredible wildlife (lots of deer and rabbits!) and serenity of the Vineyard, while still being close enough to beaches, Menemsha, State Road etc. The few weeks I spend here each year are truly the highlight of my Winter/Spring. I honestly can't say enough about how fond I am about this cottage. And to top it off, Mary is incredibly kind and very responsive to answer any questions or anything you might need. show more show less

Mary's cottage was the perfect setting for a peaceful and relaxing week on the Vineyard. It was even larger than we had envisioned, and it was spotlessly clean, bright, and airy. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook great meals every night, and the furniture, bed, and linens were all very comfortable. The cottage is in a quiet, bucolic spot that felt like our own private oasis, and the furnishings and decor are lovely. Mary was very gracious and also responsive to all our of questions. A hidden gem.....so true! Beautiful..artwork, gardens, furnishings, linens, antiques, lawns and grounds…Mary, the owner, has gone to great lengths to ensure that her guests have an unforgettable experience. The attention to detail at this property was truly beyond our expectations. Magical is the only way to describe your guest house. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You…See you next year if not sooner :-)

What a wonderful place to holiday. The cottage is great and very well appointed - we had everything we needed and more! The gardens are magical and the peace and quiet a joy. It's in a great location and the rest of the island is very easily accessible. Mary was a great landlady and did everything she could to make our holiday memorable. We will certainly return. We love Mary's place and plan our Vineyard trip around its availability. The cottage is lovely, peaceful and wonderfully maintained. We have been vacationing on the island for many years and have, unfortunately, encountered some of the older, more "worn" variations. By contrast, Mary's place is spotless, beautifully appointed, and ideally located near fabulous Lucy Vincent Beach. From the moment we stepped through the door, we knew that we had found "our place." Mary’s guest cottage is like coming to our island home. As guests of the cottage for nearly 17 years, we look forward to returning each year to our up-island retreat. The cottage is quintessential Vineyard. The property and the gardens provide privacy and serenity we seek out on island. The cottage is perfectly maintained and each visit we anticipate any new amenities that have been added for our enjoyment.
