Description

Family fun is our speciality! Your family's memories are waiting to be made in our charming, classic, Cape Cod home. Within walking distance of 2 beaches (1/4 mile to Loop, Riley's closer), and part of a quiet, residential Historic Neighborhood in picture postcard Cotuit, the original two rooms of the Captain Rogers House date to 1845. Renovations in 2013, 2020, and continuing upgrades combine Cape Cod charm with modern comfort (and good mattresses). This is a wonderful home for family reunions. There are 3 queen bedrooms (one on first floor with full bath), 1 king bedroom, and a triple with twin beds (and private bath). All bedrooms have window air conditioners, and 3 of the upstairs bedrooms have ceiling fans. All linens, including beach towels, are provided,
as is the laundry being done upon check out (1 set of sheets and towels per bed) by our housekeeping staff. No need to get up at o'dark early to wash linens before leaving!

The house has wireless internet, smart TV, and an outdoor shower. A rare open floor plan allows a light filled living and dining area, and the large screened porch has a second dining table for lovely summer meals. There is a card table with 4 chairs for additional seating, or for games and puzzles. A glassed in sun-porch stretches across the front of the house. A ''morning room'' for cozy chats or snuggling up with a good book (Kindle?), as well as a reading nook on the upper stair landing, gives everyone a place to settle.
Four adult bikes (with helmets) are available, and 3 kid-size (bring your own helmets) as well as croquet, badminton and other outdoor toys for the active vacationers, and a hammock in the yard for those who wish to snooze. A beach umbrella, beach towels, 8 beach chairs, and beach toys (with a wagon for transport) are also provided. Close proximity to the water is a plus for kayaking and SUP (stand-up-paddleboarding), and a 9 hole golf course is less than 1 mile away. Village tennis (and/or Pickle-ball) court close by.
Cotuit is home to a champion Cape Cod League baseball team (kettleers.org), and the picturesque ballpark is nearby. The village includes a local market (delicious fresh baked goods and coffee are a recommended start to your day), Post Office, church, restaurant/pub (family friendly), and an active library with playground and family activities (cotuitlibrary.org).
For a full schedule of activities during your vacation, check out the calendar of events at cotuitcivicassociation.org.
Shopping and groceries are 1 stoplight away on Route 28, in Marstons Mills. Mashpee Commons, featuring national chain stores, a movie theater and restaurants is just a few miles from the house.
Non-smokers only, please, no pets (we're sorry). The Beach Pass provided is good for all 'resident only'' parking in Barnstable, which includes every county beach and the town dock.

    Great Rental

I can't say enough about this property. We were a family of 10 (6 adults and 4 children). The amenities were great -- plenty of dishes, silverware, etc. We especially loved the front and back screened in rooms. We used one as a play area for the kids and the other for an adult reading space. The house was immaculate and we were especially pleased that they supplied the bed linens. Nancy was wonderful and easily reachable to answer our questions. The family has said this was the best Cape rental we ever had! show more show less

    Awesome property on Cape Cod

Our family recently spent a week in this most comfrotable home! We stay in alot of short-term rentals as we travel - and this was by far the most comfortable, best equipped and relaxing place we have found.

The kids loved having the bikes to ride; the back yard and hammock was thoroughly enjoyable! Everything for the infant was wonderfully convenient for the stay; the sun room and screened porch provided peaceful spots for reading and sharing time! The kitchen was amazing! With our large family, we do all of our meals "in" - everything we needed was provided, down to a covered cake holder!

Working with the owner was a pleasure - she was most accommodating!

The only disappointment was that we could not stay longer! We will return!

    A Treasure on the Cape

Our extended family had the pleasure of spending a week at the Captain Roger's House. This home is an absolute treasure! The owners, Nancy and John, have provided everything you could ever need for a wonderful vacation. Their attention to detail is amazing. All the rooms are so comfortable and lovely, we instantly felt at home. The beds are incredibly comfortable, my husband and I were shopping for a new mattress a few weeks after getting home, trying to replicate our amazing "Cape Cod sleep"! Cotuit is a beautiful, quiet town...Loop beach, the local Market and the Kettleer's baseball game were great! We all enjoyed our Cape Cod excursions...the fast ferry to Nantucket, a day in Provincetown, the glass museum and Heritage Gardens in Sandwich, plus charming gift shops, ice cream and delicious seafood. We were sad to leave but we felt so grateful to have stayed somewhere so special! Thank you, Nancy and John, for sharing your lovely home! show more show less

Thank you so much Janel! Our goal is a wonderful vacation for everyone.
You really took advantage of the many things to do on the Cape; I'm glad
you covered so much ground. I'm especially happy you liked the mattresses.
We have found awful mattresses when we have rented on our vacations, and
tired, cranky people are not fun to be around! WeNancy and John appreciate the time you took to post such a lovely review. Please come again!

Great Family Vacation on Cape Cod

We rented from Nancy and her family last week...the house was perfect in every way. The kitchen is better equipped than mine at home...and the attention to detail was second to none...her towels, linens, furniture and fixtures are all top of the line...felt like we were staying at a luxurious resort. Nancy was very responsive to all of our inquiries.

We look forward to seeing the renovations planned for the kitchen, back bedroom and central A/C installed.

    Highly recommend.

    2017 Family Vacation

Just returned from a terrific week at this very nice home. Eight adults and four kids under six! Plenty of room for all. Lovely neighborhood, easy walk to beaches. Everything we needed was there, and then some, including a terrific caretaker! Thanks, Mr. C!

    A GEM!

Our family of 7 adults and 3 children (ages 6 months to 3 1/2 years) stayed at the Captain Rogers House for our first-ever vacation on Cape Cod. From the moment we walked in to the house, we felt welcome and "home". There were many positive features of the house:
Location: Cotuit is a charming, quiet town with easy access to tourist spots. Nearby grocery stores and shopping was a definite plus. The easy walk to 2 different beaches was great for the little ones (thanks for the wagon, beach toys, towels, etc. -much less for us to cart on the trip).
Layout: The house allowed us to have our "group time" as well as private space as well. The sun porch - just off the large living room was a favorite as well as the screened in porch in the back of the house. The little alcove at the top of the steps was sweet, and the eating nook in the kitchen worked well for meals and a few card games.
Kitchen: The well stocked kitchen, while dated (the future plans for this room look great!), was terrific. We had 2 "eat in" meals and the kitchen served us very well. What a treat to have the cooking oil, S&P, spices, pots, pans, serve-ware, plastics, foils, etc. available.
Beds and Baths: Comfortable beds (not always a given) as well as clean, efficient bathrooms were truly appreciated. The towels and amenities were like an upscale B&B. Just an all around comfortable space.
General thoughtfulness: Nancy is a joy to work with. Prior to arriving, she had communicated in a timely, efficient manner. After arrival, she and her on site manager made sure that they were available to help should we have any needs (we did not). All the little extras in the house speak to an attention to detail and guest comfort that puts this vacation home in a class by itself!

    Amazing Cape Cod Vacation Rental!

We had a total of 11 people staying in Cotuit at the Captain Rogers House, a combination of three families with six adults and five children (age range 3 - 13). The Captain Rogers House was everything that we could have wanted in a vacation rental. Starting with Nancy, who was helpful from the beginning of the booking until the very end (even after we checked out and forgot something at the house - she responded quickly to our ask for help and mailed out our left behind item).
/>The house was clean, the kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals at home. The beds were extremely comfortable. Nancy provides beach towels and toys, and the back porch served as our outdoor living & dining room!

There were two small beaches in walking or biking distance (a wagon was provided by Nancy for the small children to ride in and there were four bikes stored in the garage). On most days we traveled 15 to 50 minutes to enjoy larger beaches and/or bigger waves. Every trip was easily accessible via the highway and it was nice to return to Cotuit at the end of the day as it was away from the hustle & bustle of the towns that housed the larger beaches.

Everything else from groceries, to liquor, to seafood was within a 10 - 15 minute drive.

My family & I highly recommend renting from Nancy! Thank you, Nancy, for your kindness and your hospitality! show more show less

We are a family of 9 whose relatives are scattered geographically, so sharing summer vacations has always been important to us. As our daughters have grown (and brought home husbands and children), we love having a place to gather where everyone has space for their own vacation, but where we still share time together. We have rented vacation properties in New England for years, (on the ''lake'' side of the family) and in setting up the Captain Rogers House, we wanted to improve upon some of our rental experiences. Consequently, we have furnished our home for ourselves, and would like you to feel like an invited guest (i.e. no skimpy towels or ancient mattresses). The Captain Rogers House is a family home, and has provided us with a wonderful place to relax, enjoy one another, and build lasting family memories. It's ideal for a multiple generation family reunion, as the canvas upon which to paint your family's story. We hope to welcome you!

What is special about this property?
We're the 2nd generation to own the house, since its purchase in the early 1970s, but it was also owned by a distant cousin in previous generations (which wasn't known at the time of purchase!). Being within walking distance of the beach is something we would never trade, and our screened-in back porch is everyone's favorite place to hang out. It's furnished with comfortable wicker, so a crowd can gather without someone sitting in a lawn chair. The main 2 rooms of the house date from
1845, and we love the feeling of historic roots - but with comfort!

Our family has deep roots in Cotuit, and we love sharing this charming village with others who value the same kinds of summers that we do.

What is special about your town?
Cotuit is off the beaten path of typical Cape Cod development. It was a seaport in the 1800s, and still feels like
a real village ~ not a fabricated rendition of such. The residential streets give a relaxed Cape Cod feeling,
so you will know you are somewhere special. Walking to the beach (especially for families with different age children,
who may not want to have family time ALL day) cannot be beat! Yet, all conveniences, shopping and recreation opportunities are just a few miles away - tucked nicely out of sight. Let us know what would make your vacation complete.
