Description

Description

Seahorse was built in the 1700's by a fisherman. She is located in the center of Historic Nantucket in what is known as the Fish Lots, just blocks from Main Street. New to the market due to a total restoration, Seahorse is a bright and airy cottage that captures both the charm and history of Nantucket's architecture. She boasts of exposed beams in the ceilings, the original pine floors, wood stove, fireplace, and soapstone counters; yet she has all the modern conveniences. Seahorse is furnished with a charming combination of antique furniture and portraits that reflect Nantucket's history. Outside there is a shower and patio that is surrounded by a traditional English Garden that is the envy of the neighborhood. There is nothing ordinary about the little gem. Sea Horse is listed as historically significant with the Historic Society of Nantucket because she is one of a kind. She has also been included on the Nantucket Preservation Walking Tour due to the detail to restoration with Historic preservation in mind.

    Lovely, Cozy Cottage!

I stayed in the Sea Horse cottage last September and found it an incredibly cozy house. It had everything I needed for a comfortable vacation - well equipped kitchen, bath and bedroom, plus close enough to easily walk into town. The attached yard was very nice, but the best part was the multitude of art hanging on the walls...really neat!

    Spectacular stay at Seahorse

First trip to Nantucket for our family of 4 Mom, Dad, two young teens...we chose Seahorse and we are SO lucky to have found this spacious and spectacular cottage just a short walk/bike ride to town. Everything we needed was here -- beach towels, chairs, coffee, frisbees, W/D, you name it, they had it!It was so cozy and built with effort and care of someone who knows what they are doing. Spotless, beautifully decorated, and just so cozy. We will definitely be back!!!

    The Perfect Nantucket Get-Away

Our family has vacationed at Seahorse three years in a row now -- and we're already looking forward to returning next year! This beautiful cottage boasts all of the modern day amenities without sacrificing the Island charm -- and is fully equipped with all of your vacation needs (central air, fireplace, kitchen electrics, pots, pans, spices, toiletries, towels, sheets, baby essentials, etc.). The home is located right in the center of Nantucket Town on a quiet street -- only a short 10 minute walk to all of the best shopping and dining. And though it may appear small from the outside, the spacious 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and open layout make this a more than perfect choice for a family vacation or a relaxing week away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland.

The owners of Seahorse take great pride in the up-keep of their home and have gone above and beyond in making the time spent on the Island both comfortable and relaxing. They also have a beautiful outdoor patio and English garden (with an outdoor shower!).
We can’t say enough great things about this home and would absolutely recommend Seahorse to anybody looking to enjoy a beautiful Nantucket vacation – any time of year!!

    Perfect Nantucket Town Cottage

Seahorse is a very special cottage on a quiet street in town. It is quaint, true to the Sea Captain's style and cleverly renovated with all the modern amenities. The open space on the main floor is perfect for family meals, hanging out with friends. The kitchen is fully stocked, washer/dryer, outdoor shower, 2 1/2 baths inside, all the sheets and towels, beach chairs, the list goes on. It is an easy walk to town and near the bike paths. The owners make sure everything is perfect for your vacation.

We especially enjoy the patio and the spacious yard while having our coffee and donuts from the Nantucket Bakery in the morning. We have rented the cottage for several years, sometimes twice a year, because we love it so much.

I have lived on Nantucket in some capacity since 1987. No that is not a typo. For years I lived around the corner from MY house on Fair Street above the Woodbox Inn. I waited tables and ran the Inn for 20 years. When my house went on the market in 1998 my husband and I decided to make a move. We bought it. It was falling down and listed as historically significant which meant that you had to be very careful with what you did to the house and you could not put on any additions that were not historically correct. We have been fixing up the house ever since, slowly and with love as we are the builders who are always working on everyone else's home. Our plan is to someday move back to the Island- once the kids are away at college.
