This is by FAR the nicest house we have rented on the Cape! This house is just beautiful. Gorgeous original floors, clean new kitchen with high end appliances, ornate woodwork thoughout. Clean, spacious and walking distance to food and the beach. We had 2 families of 4 and there was more than enough privacy for each of our clans, house does not conduct sound so the early birds could get up and start their day without waking the others. Although this is on a main road, you cannot hear traffic from the house and you feel very secluded. Lovely manicured landscaping and hot tub!! Cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay. We hope to be back soon!!! show more show less

This home was fully equipped. You will need nothing, just bring beach towels. Read all the information the owner has put into his Bag End information booklet. This booklet is a nice touch too. I went to the UU Church on Sunday at the top of hill next to the graveyard across from the house. The congregation was welcoming and helpful. If you venture outside of town, no need to, Hyannis is very close. Also, Cape Cod Brewery is 1.3 miles down the road and may have live music. Also, The tavern, in town, has Jazz on Friday nights. Also, I encountered a group of residents jumping into the water off the bridge near the marina down the road. Very friendly bunch. In my correspondence with the owner I could hear his genuine kindness in his written words show more show less

I came to this house with a big group of friends and we comfortably fit and had space for 3 kids as well. We enjoyed lounging on the patio drinking coffee, walking to the nearby beach and eating tons of seafood at Oysterville (Casual dining), in addition to grilling our own seafood in the backyard. Two ovens was a nice luxury and we loved the hot tub. Luke, the owner, was very responsive when we had issues with the hot tub (it was just low on water). The outdoor shower was also very popular with our group- a nice luxury! Thanks for hosting us, we definitely hope to come back! Amy show more show less

Dear Luke, Your home was a very comfortable and lovely place for us to stay. We were able to meet up with Florida family that had just gotten through hurricane Irma and it was a much needed time to get together with Family we were very worried about. Our mom just turning 70 was able to be together with all 4 of her daughters, and her granddaughters and great grand daughter. it was a first get away for all us girls together and we hope to be able to do it again sometime. Your home had everything and more to make our stay very comfortable. Thank you!! show more show less

Originally purchased as our antique ''dream'' home, we have been renting our beloved ''Bag End'' for over 11 years almost exclusively on HomeAway/VRBO.com (this is our first year using another marketing site). We are seasoned vets when it comes to vacation rentals, and this property is about as turn-key as you can find. We specialize in renting to extended families, and we have over 35 (5 star) reviews on HomeAway.com/VRBO. Please feel free to review them on our site at www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p173583?uni_id=468681.

What is special about this property?
This home is Olde Cape Cod to perfection! You’ll get the best of both worlds~ Family friendly beach and quaint historic Cape Village (Norman Rockwell couldn't paint a more perfect place than Barnstable Village). Relax the days away on the beach (about 700 yards down the street - walk home for lunch)! Walk down to Barnstable Harbor to pick up the legendary Whale Watch Tours or grab some amazingly fresh seafood for dinner. Antiquing, window shopping, and discovering local flavor in one of the many restaurants is waiting for you in Barnstable Village (all just steps from the house). Or.. spend hours playing at the children's park lovingly named 'The Hollow' across the street and behind the church. The Village of Barnstable is located on the north side of the cape, centered along historic 'Old Kings Highway' (route 6A), the home to many historic landmarks including Sturgis Library, The Olde Colonial Courthouse, The Barnstable Comedy Club, and the Trayser Museum. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Hyannis, you are but a 5 minute drive to the Cape Cod Mall and downtown. This house is truly the best of both worlds, and everything you would need is within a couple minute walk. Welcome to what we fondly call ''Bag End''!
