Description

We are pleased to reintroduce our vacation cottage once again for the Summer 2023 Provincetown season. Guests have called the 800 square foot interior ''the epitome of ''Cottage Chic'', with a large livingroom and open ceiling, separate diningroom and kitchen, private en-suite with queen bed, and newly added screened porches.
19 windows welcome in plenty of natural light, summer breezes and birdsong. Pine floors and panelled walls contribute to the coziness of the interior. There is exclusive parking for one vehicle.
The year-round cottage is conveniently connected to coffee shops, stores, restaurants, and the bustling life of Commercial Street, while providing you with a well-deserving and quiet retreat outside of the bustle. Just over a block to Provincetown's Harbor beach for swimming and kayaking, the property is stationed in a private location within one of Provincetown's oldest historic neighborhoods. The cottage itself is enclosed by trees and shrubs and a private yard, and offers the peace and quiet a vacationer deserves for a perfect escape and restful stay.

    A PTown Hidden Gem

Staying at Tom's cottage was an absolute joy! He was very down to earth, kind and communicative leading up to and during our entire stay. His place had the exact kind of getaway feel and intimacy for a couple traveling together with their puppy. Its very close to everything downtown but tucked away enough that you don't hear any of the hustle during the day or night. It had everything we needed for our stay and the perfect haven for us during our vacation. We will definitely be back in the future! show more show less

    Rent Here!!!

There are so many great aspects of this cottage, it's easy to give a 5-star rating. It is located a short block away from the center of town and the bustling street action of Commercial St. Yet, the cottage and surroundings have a zen feel that's hard to describe. The place itself is charming outside and in - interesting Art, decor that really adds to its nature, front and back screened in porches, and landscaping that is simple and so beautiful! There is easy parking AND a bath tub! The owner has thought of everything!

Don't hesitate with this rental. You get both the essence of Ptown's energy close by and a cottage that is quiet and calm. A place to refuel before the night life gets in gear. We loved our time here!!

    Great Summer Getaway

We stayed at the cottage for Girl Splash Week in Provincetown and had a wonderful time. Tom is a gracious host! The cottage is in the perfect location - close enough to Commercial Street and all the hustle and bustle, but distant enough to be nice and quiet. Our cat and dog had a great time as well as they both enjoyed the screened-in porch. Cottage was well maintained and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Will stay again!

    A Gem In Provincetown!

As we left this cottage, my husband and I joked that we almost didn't want to leave a review because we found this gem that we want to keep to ourselves! We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay in this cottage. We were in Provincetown for the week, but didn't want to be right in the center of all the action, and this cottage provided just that - a secluded spot, but still extremely close to everything we wanted to do. The inside was uniquely decorated, and the beautiful mature trees around the property made us feel like we were in our own secret garden. We especially liked the outdoor deck and chairs - it was a perfect spot for a summer afternoon nap. The furniture inside is comfortable, and the bed was simply perfect. I am someone who always has trouble sleeping when I travel, and didn't have any issues here. The bathroom is an adequate size, and there was plenty of storage for our needs. Simply put - this was the ultimate in Provincetown charm, and we can't wait to come back again. show more show less

    Perfect in Ptown

This is the 3rd summer we have stayed at Tom's place in Provincetown. It is perfectly situated to everything. Commercial St. is only a few short minutes walk away but it's removed enough that it's quiet. The cottage is beautiful and comfortable and Tom couldn't be a better host. My child and dogs and I always enjoy our stay! We will be back every summer!

    Charming cottage

We really enjoyed our week in this cottage, which is very close to everything you might wish to do but very quiet and secluded. It is in the backyard of the owner's home but there was plenty of privacy. The decor is eclectic and colorful. It contains all essential items for a week of housekeeping. There is plenty of space inside and out for a two people. The owner was friendly and accessible. It is a 3 minute walk to Commercial Street, in the lovely East End of town. Beaches are less than 10 minutes away. My husband and I would definitely stay here again. show more show less

    A P'town Gem

We have been lucky enough to stay twice at this gem of a cottage and plan to do so again soon. Tom, the owner, has done a great job designing and decorating a comfortable place for guests to stay. He takes pride in his work and it shows! Tom lives next-door --- he is there if needed, but otherwise gives his guests complete privacy. The central location is ideal!

    Perfect Ptown Experience...again and again

Last August, we rented this cottage for the third time and we'll keep coming back. It has everything you need but is so much more than your average Ptown rental. It has soul.

Sure, it has all the comforts; spacious, two FULL bathrooms, W/D, A/C., Parking(!). But it is also articulately decorated with a wonderful mix of poignant, interesting, funny and sexy memorabilia that makes it a truly unique stay. It's located behind a lovely, historic Ptown house in a lush, green yard. The yard is super shaded but the cottage has tons of windows, so it's very bright and airy with great cross breeze thru the windows or out the French doors to the back of the house. You really feel like you're a townie when you stay here; like you're in your own home.

Tom is a lovely host. He never hovers but he has always been quick to respond to any requests.

All three of our rentals were in summer and we love coming to Ptown then but I imagine the cottage is a great home base any time of year, even in winter.

We will absolutely be back. It's the perfect stay.

We love this private cottage getaway!

We loved our stay at Tom's cottage and can't wait to return! A converted cottage for two, set back in the garden, with a picnic table for outdoor dining, and an outdoor grill, as well. Perfect for the two of us, with a large bedroom and two full baths(!) and washer/dryer, as well as comfy dining area and living room. Tom is nearby, not intrusive, but very responsive when we had a question. It can be hard to find a stand-alone private and roomy place for 2 in Ptown, this is a gem -- and not far from Commercial Street, but far enough to be quiet and calm. Love this place!!! show more show less

    Not What We Expected

Having read all the other glowing reviews we felt confident this would be a great place to rent in August. We were pretty disappointed. While the cabin was pretty much as described our first night there the pillow cases and sheets had an odd scent of men's cologne so we laundered them the next day and then we were fine. There were some dust webs in places on the walls of the living room which seem to suggest no real thorough vacuuming had been done in awhile. The surface of the cooking pans in the kitchen were bad and even with oil everything stuck to them. There are no blackout/privacy shades in the bedroom which is full of windows, so its like being in a lit fish bowl at night and then floods with sunlight before 6AM which wasn't great for catching up on our sleep. We felt an intense lack of privacy while we were there. Tom's policy that all guests must be pre-approved by him in writing that he explained in a text to us is applicable to even having dinner guests over which we just found weird as we tend to socialize with friends and have not encountered such a policy at any Ptown rental before. It's rented as a one bedroom, but in fact it is licensed by the City of Provincetown as a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom dwelling given the loft above the dining room according to the Occupancy Certificate posted in the rental. Of course, Tom can rent it out as he desires but just again seemed odd. The close proximity of fences and other buildings to the cabin really prevented many cool cross breezes so we really appreciated the A/C at night. Being tucked back deep in Tom the landlord's backyard with just a small side path to the street and very little privacy by proper window shades or plantings ( albeit a small dividing row of shrubs is growing) In short just not our cup of tea...but it may be yours, of course. I left early and left the place immaculate according to Tom. show more show less

I am very sorry to hear that this guest was disappointed in any way with my home. I work very hard to provide a spotless home and an enjoyable stay for my guests. I was shocked to hear of his disappointments and wished he had informed me of his concerns during his stay so that I could have remedied them right away.

Here are my responses to his concerns:
    - There are window coverings on all windows in the unit. There are no black out shades, nor has this ever been raised as a concern.
    - All linens including pillowcases and pillow protectors are freshly laundered, the bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned, the premises thoroughly swept and vacuumed and the floors washed before check in. This takes approximately 5 hours. There are also additional fresh linens included with the rental.
    - Dishes, pots and pans, refrigerator and stove are also washed and cleaned.
    - The Tenant might have misunderstood. Friends of the Tenants' are welcome. I simply ask that the Tenant inform me if they plan to invite a number of visitors to the property. It is standard policy with many Rentals here.
    - This Rental is in a private and quiet neighbourhood. There are surrounding properties separated by privet bushes and high fences which afford good privacy for the rental premises. The location of the premises is shown on the listing to inform potential renters about the property and the surrounding neighbourhood. Renters have expressed how they appreciate the location and the privacy it offers, in contrast to other rentals in more congested and noisy locations in Provincetown.
    - This guest may have left a few hours before Check Out time, but his review implied that he left over 24 hours early, which he did not do.

Once again I wish to express that these concerns would have been resolved immediately if the guest had informed me at the time rather than to contain his grievances until after he had left the premises.
