nice home but beware...
We rented this home over Christmas. I will address the positives first. It's a nice, spacious home with 3 floors and 3 bathrooms, making it a good option for larger families. There are multiple sleeping areas as well, in addition to the bedrooms. It had a pretty view out to a marsh, that I am sure is even prettier in the spring and summer. It is a nicely decorated home and had comfortable couches on both the main floor and on the 1st floor. It also is in a great neighborhood.
Now for the negatives.
1-The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The double on the 1st floor had springs that poked our guests all night long. The master bed was rock hard, stiff and left us sore each am. After the 1st night, I emailed the owner and was told to put a comforter under the sheet. Sadly that did not come close to solving the problem. The "luxurious linens" were 100% cotton with cute prints, but I would not call them "luxurious."
2-We searched for a home to rent with a fireplace, as its cold on the Cape in December and it was Christmas. We asked about firewood and confirmed with the owners that it was a working fireplace prior to arriving. After getting home with all the wood, etc. we could see that the chimney was packed with leaves and clearly had not been cleaned, and it clearly presented a fire risk. When we emailed the owner, we were told "do not use the fireplace" and they would reimburse for the items if we mailed them the receipt. (I don't keep grocery store receipts from 3 days prior....).
3-The flat screen TV mentioned, is an old tube TV. (there is also only one TV, in case that matters to you)
We have rented homes in this area yearly for 15 years, as we go back to see family. While the above was concerning, what was really upsetting was the owners inadequate response. There was never an apology, acknowledgement or responsibility taken on the owners' part. Instead we were questioned why we waited to address the concerns ---(???)---which we did at the time and then AGAIN -short of 3 weeks after returning to the west coast. Needless to say, no compensation was offered. show more show less

Thank you so much for mentioning how beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable our home is. We agree! And you are right! Our view is even more spectacular in the spring and summer.
We also want to say that the customer is always right.
We want to say that we are so very sorry for your inconvenience. If there is anything that we could do now to fix your experience, we most certainly would! We welcome all feedback and we take this feedback very seriously. That being said, we have taken the following steps to improve the experience of all of our future renters:
We have purchased very thick foam mattress toppers to make each bed even softer and more comfortable than it was before. We think our renters are going to love them! Thank you for the feedback!
Also, we have called a chimney sweep to make sure that our fireplace is ready to go for our next winter rental. The fireplaces are all brand new with gorgeous blue-stone hearths. Never used! But it is a good idea to get a chimney sweep in there to make sure they are ready for the next winter renter.
We want to mention that we use crisp, white Ralph Lauren sheets on every bed. The decorative comforters on top of each bed can all be viewed on this website. The beds in our home look exactly the way they are portrayed on this website. We have extra solid-color valor Pottery Barn comforters for those who require extra warmth.
In the TV room, there is, indeed, a flat screen TV. Our summer renters find one flat screen TV in the TV room enough because there is so much to do in our resort area. There is very little time for TV watching! We have a plasma TV in the works...we are hoping for this summer!!!
Finally, I just want to say that we are in constant contact with our renters. This renter did not mention that we responded to his complaints on the same day that he emailed us during his stay, with suggestions for the bedding and reimbursements for his firewood (and, of course, we would have never asked for a receipt). It was our pleasure to reimburse this renter! It is so important for renters to contact us if they are not satisfied with something during their stay so that we can rectify the problem and make their stay more enjoyable while they are there. It's kind of like calling the front desk at a hotel if something is wrong with your room.
We welcome all renter feedback and take it seriously. We are always trying to improve our home. Thanks for the feedback! :)
