This was our third trip to this cottage and it gets better every year! I am a snob about linens and décor and I fell in love with this place our first year - it is impeccable, designed with the comfort of the guests in mind in every way and now feels like we are "coming home" each time we step inside!
Cathy has a way of knowing just what you will want and need - crisp linens, fabulous towels, beach equipment and towels, the TV with premium channel, everything clean, clean, clean, etc. etc. etc.
This little piece of calm was just what we needed for a break from this crazy world this year...We opened the door and were greeted with a bouquet of balloons for our joint birthdays, tote bags, amazing cupcakes which we limited to one each per day, and the wonderful sound of NOTHING! After unpacking, we took a long walk on the beach, right outside our door...love doing this at the start of the day with coffee in hand and at sunset with wine in hand!
The kitchen is easy to use with everything you will need and we did cook a few meals this year because we were staying safe re restaurant visits. We also found it easy to eat outside at most of our favorite haunts - especially Chew Café in Sandwich - perfect breakfasts and lunches and take out. We also ate on the porch at Scargo Café in Dennis a couple of times - very special meal always and worth the trip.
We usually do a lot of holiday shopping and this year was no different...and since this is "hard work" at the end of the day we were happy to return to this little peaceful enclave, walk the beach, and watch a couple of good movies and turn in early for a restful night listening to the sound of the waves.
We have rented many homes in Maine, on the Cape, in Connecticut, Upstate NY, at the Jersey Shore - and, well, you get the picture...NONE of them is as welcoming and well-appointed as this cottage by the sea. We will always return year after year and if you are planning a vacation, this should be top of your list!
Thanks, Cathy, for another stellar memory! See you in September...
