Description

Description

Experience the unique light of Provincetown - a fishing town, beach town, artist colony, next to a National Park - a place that is picturesque and one of the best beach towns in the US. Provincetown includes excellent restaurants, live performance including top-name talent, recreational opportunities on the water (kayaking, sailing, whale watching) and land (biking, hiking, shopping, copious art galleries, historic and natural tours and programming), all readily accessible.

The condo is a fully furnished studio with a bed loft accessed by stairs. The daylit, airy space includes an open first floor with efficiency kitchen, dining table, and living room seating (sofa and love seat) in an area with tall ceilings and windows. An oak stair connects to the full head-height bed loft with 6' windows and bath (including a shower with a river rock base).

The front entry is through a bluestone patio with six-foot privacy fencing. A seating sectional and umbrella furnish the patio, a perfect place to time whatever is cooking on the gas grill. This unit is part of four side-by-side units in one building. One parking space is around back, parallel to the building.

This condo is centrally-located in town and yet off the beaten path. Take the ferry from Boston to Provincetown from May until Columbus Day, and it is an easy five-block walk from the pier to this unit. A block off the main street (Commercial Street) and the harbor, and set back off of Bradford Street. From the front door one can walk to almost anything in town.

Just steps from the front gate is a gourmet grocery with coffee, sandwiches, prepared meals, newspapers, beer and wine, just about anything you need. Just a few steps further is Carpe Diem, with one of the premier spas in town. The beach on Cape Cod Bay is just a short block-and-a-half. Drive (with a paid National Park Service entry) or bike to the National Seashore beaches (Herring Cove and Race Point, either approx. 1-2 miles), or, there’s a shuttle that will take you as well. This is a place where a week's vacation would not require a car. Soak up all of the Cape culture and natural beauty, shopping, and nightlife you care to.

Please, no smoking in the condo, and no pets, with apologies.

Great place!

I have stayed here many times and will continue to do so as much as I can - the antidote to my crazy busy Somerville life. The small outside patio is totally private which is perfect for my morning coffee whenever the day begins or wine with food from the grill with friends in the evening. The interior is quite lovely and both the couches and bed are wonderfully comfortable, which is important to me as napping/sleeping and plopping down on the couch (the second bed if needed) to read are essential vacation activities. The kitchen is small but it is fully equipped so cooking is fun. Even in the heat of the summer I never have used any air conditioning as there is a constant breeze with the many windows open. Location? Beyond fabulous - the New York Times, prepared food, alcohol and groceries (with genuinely nice employees) literally a 2 minute walk from the front gate, Commercial Street in all the art/parades/restaurants/shops/fun 5 minutes away and the closest beach 6 if that. Even a parking spot's included. For me it's the perfect place to relax and play any time of year. Find out for yourself! show more show less

Perfect!

Loved this apartment! Great location, neat and clean, airy and attractive. We arrived via ferry from Boston and were able to walk or bike everywhere. We loved being just a couple of blocks from all the restaurants and shops, while enjoying a quiet night's sleep even on a busy summer weekend. The layout worked well for our family of 3. The living/dining area was very comfortable including the sofa bed, and the compact kitchen had everything we needed. The high ceiling gives an open and generous feel. The second floor sleeping loft and bathroom were attractive and comfortable. The decor was perfect too - just enough beach-theme to feel you're in a special place. The patio was a lovely bonus. Would definitely recommend! show more show less

This Provincetown Getaway - Quiet and Convenient

This Provincetown Getaway at 4 Railroad Avenue is light and airy while being cozy at the same time. It’s one of the middle units in a four-unit building originally constructed in 1960 as artists’ lofts in support of Provincetown’s growing artist colony. The two-story layout and high living room ceiling provides plenty of privacy and spaciousness. It’s a great location—quiet and convenient. Set back a block and a half from Commercial Street, it’s a wonderful retreat to relax from the hustle and bustle but it’s just a short walk to the town center and Macmillan Pier. The enclosed patio is a delightful place for sunning, reading or grilling.

There’s a small grocery store next door with a large supermarket just three-quarters of a mile away. The galley kitchen provides plenty of space—we cooked meals for four with no problem—and, if you don’t feel like cooking, there are a variety of restaurants within a few minutes’ walk.

I took the ferry out from Boston and rented a bicycle which put me in easy riding distance to the beaches and bike trails on the dunes. My stay there was thoroughly enjoyable and I’ll definitely be planning a trip back to Railroad Avenue.

Hi! I'm a Boston-based professional who has owned this little gem since 2008. I renovated it at that time. It is my little piece of sanity in the rat race world.

What is special about this property?
I love being a part of the Ptown community and running into friends and people I know most anywhere I go. I love that I can walk anywhere in town I'd like to go, and bike as well,. I love that my favorite places are within 4 blocks, and that I can take the ferry and walk up, not even needing a cab (I'm a light packer it is true). I love sunning in my little patio in the shoulder seasons when it is too cool outside the fence. I love that it is small enough that there is not much to take care of, and large enough to have everything needed. I love that a cup of coffee, a bottle of wine, a delicious sandwich or chocolate croissant is literally steps away at Far Land.

What is special about your town?
It is so easy to sit at a sunny bar overlooking the bay, and strike up conversations with whoever is there and wile away an afternoon. Good and great restaurants abound. The beaches and natural areas are, I feel, the best on the Cape, and Wellfleet is a short ride away. There is such a range of activities: rent bikes or kayaks, go sailing, whale watches, National Park programming, free concerts, Broadway and A-list national acts at the theaters, excellent shopping, parades and parties, and on and on.
