Description

There is nothing like falling asleep to the rhythmic sound of breaking waves and waking to songbirds calling to the rising sun. Morning coffee on the deck offers panoramic views from Kalmus Beach to Snow Creek, where you may catch a glimpse of cranes and blue heron as well as the pair of osprey who annually return to their nest between the two bodies of water.

Condo Amenities:
Set up your beach chairs just paces out the front door from this two bedroom, one bath, condominium.

The unit is fully equipped with a galley kitchen (microwave, coffee maker, dishes, utensils, dishwasher, electric range and oven, toaster oven, and full size refrigerator), living room with cable TV and a DVD/VCR player (equipped to access your Netflix and Hulu accounts), free WiFi, and central air conditioning. The newly renovated bathroom has a full size tub with shower. A marble island between the kitchen and living room seats 4-5 and a Bistro table on the deck seats 2. There is also a George Foreman electric grill on the deck.

The unit can sleep 4-6 people. The master bedroom has a new queen size bed and sliders to a deck area looking out to the beach/ocean. The second floor is a bedroom with two single beds. The living room has a queen-sized sleeper sofa. This two bedroom condo is ideal for a couple with one or two children.

The Unique Benefits of this Condo:
The Kalmus Beach Retreat is one of the Ocean Gate Condos on Ocean Street, Hyannis. This location is 1/2 mile from the Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard ferries and 1 mile to Hyannis Marina, the artists’ shanties, and Hyannis’ main Streets. Downtown Hyannis offers every imaginable type of food (including homemade ice cream and gelato), craft, and shopping along with the JKF Museum and the Cape Cod Baseball League Museum. Nearby eateries like Spanky’s, Baxter’s and The Black Cat provide great views of the harbor while Mattakeese Wharf Restaurant provides great views of the bay.

Beachcombers may prefer meandering the ~ 1 mile loop from the retreat that provides views of wind surfers and parasailers on Kalmus Beach, piping plover hatchlings on the protected sand dunes, people fishing from the rock jetty, ferries entering and leaving Lewis Bay, picnickers at Veterans’ Memorial Park/the JFK Memorial, and homes along Ocean Street.

As the ‘big city’ on the Cape, Hyannis is also home to the Cape Cod Mall, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Starbucks, and other major retail outlets. It also provides easy access to the King’s Highway (Route 6A) art galleries and antique outlets, kayaking and bike trails including Falmouth’s Shining Sea, the Cape Cod Canal Trail and Cape Cod Rail Trail.

During the summer, favorite activities include playing a round of mini-golf and watching a Cape Cod League Baseball game. The games are free and the Hyannis Harbor Hawks play at McKeon Park, just off Main St at 195 High School street. Finally, think about coming during one of the many seasonal festivals like the Bourne Scallop Festival, the Heritage Museum and Gardens Hydrangea Festival, the Wareham’s Cranberry Festival and the Wellfleet Oyster Festival.

Even rainy days can be fun here. There is an assortment of fiction and nonfiction books, playing cards, classic family board games, and DVDs. And more recent movie releases can easily be found at the Redbox (DVD rental for $1) at the Shaws on West Main Street.

The condo is in a smoke free building, and the unit does not allow pets. The unit has two reserved parking spaces in the adjacent parking lot.

Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your lovely home. It was so thoughtfully decorated. We immediately felt at home and relaxed. We had all kinds of weather - from cold, foggy and windy to beautifully sunny and hot - so we felt like we had a great mix of staying in to read, relax, and enjoy the condo as well as to visit the beach.

We very much enjoyed a day trip to Nantucket. If you don't mind the walk to the harbor you don't even have to worry about paying to park or battling ferry traffic. We had one of the best meals of the whole trip at the Roadhouse Cafe; Black Cat was also good but crowded; Pizza Barbone had exellent and unique wood-fired pizzas and Centerville Pie was a great treat for an easy night of cooking at the condo.

The view from the deck for your morning coffee can't be beat - nor can falling asleep to the sound of the waves at night. We had a lovely week!

This is my first night and I've already fallen in love with this place. When we got here the first thing we did was grab my speakers and head to the beach for hours of listening to music, watching the waves, and thinking. It was very relaxing. James
The apartment is in the ideal location with everything you might need. I am amazed at how you have utilized every square inch for storage. The only problem I have is how to top this location/vacation next year. Sharon

We came here for a girls weekend and mini-college reunion. The condo was perfect for us. The weather was a little chilly, but sunny and we had a fabulous time. We walked around Hyannis, chatham, Dennis, and Barnstable. We had dinner at the Black Cat Tavern which was fabulous! We took the ferry (Island Queen) out of Falmouth to Marth's Vineyard which was much cheaper than here in town. We took a bus to Edgartown, Oaks Bluff, and Vineyard Haven and had a spectacular day strolling through the shops and sightseeing. Also had a great lunch at The Newes and Mad Martha's Ice Cream! So Much Fun ;) show more show less

To say this is heaven would be an understatement. First "timers" to the cape we are, but will be back for sure. things you must do:
1) Spanky's Clam Chowder
2) Walk both sides of the beach
3) Open all the windows at night and enjoy the breeze and the ocean
4) Ferry to Martha's Vineyard
5) Cook on the deck
6) Have a drink
7) Relax
8) The Raw Bar! Must have their Lobster Roll!
9) Be "naughty" with the one you love
10) Com back sooner than later. Life is short. show more show less

My husband and I had a fantastic week and love this place! He could windsurf to his heart''s content and I could take walks, swim, stand up paddle, etc. We recommend getting onto the Cape Cod Rail Trail if you can - The Hot Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans is right on the bike path and a great treat. Thank you for the lovely stay!

I may be a wash-a-shore to Cape Cod natives, having moved to the cape in 2010, but feel more at home here than any of the many places east of the Mississippi that I have lived. I love the colors of the cape as the sun glows during its rise over Kalmus Beach and set over Lewis beach and Snow Creek. An amatuer photographer, there is always something to catch my eye. And no matter where I travel with my consulting business, I find a place of peace as I cross the Sagamore bridge and claim the wonder of the cape. I hope my Kalmus Beach Retreat offers you the same.

What is special about this property?
Location! Location! Location!
Situated between Kalmus Beach and Snow Creek, this condo offers both a peaceful place to relax as well as easy access to the energy of summer activities on the cape.

Effeciently designed, the condo is comfortable with easy access to everything. From the master bedroom, you can literally hear the sun rise at your feet as the song birds welcome the morning. The Galley kitchen will satisfy the master chef as well as those who simply want to head downtown for the mix of seafood, americana, and ethnic restaurants. There is an ample collection of books, dvds and games and tele-commuters will be able to stay connected while enjoying the sun.

When you are ready to head out, its just steps to the beach and basking in the sun. Beachcombers will find sea glass and shells while meandering an approximately 1 mile loop that passes wind surfers and parasailers on Kalmus beach, piping plover hatchlings on the protected sand dunes, people fishing from the rock jetty, ferries entering and leaving Lewis Bay, picnickers at Veterans’ Memorial Park/the JFK Memorial, homes along Ocean Street and the osprey nesting above Snow Creek. Walk toward town to find local artists sharing what inspired their creations in the HyArts Shanties. Stop in the Black Cat to grab a drink and enjoy live entertainment.

What is special about your town?
Downtown Hyannis offers a little of everything! When not basking in the sun, enjoy every imaginable type of food (including homemade ice cream and gelato), craft, and shopping. Nearby eateries like Spanky’s, Baxter’s and The Black Cat provide great views of the harbor. The Art Shanties spotlight local crafters. Home to the Kennedy's, you won't want to miss the JKF Museum. And if you are a baseball fan, the Cape Cod Baseball League Museum chronicles the record of many pro's from their start on the cape. As the ‘big city’ on the cape, Hyannis is also home to the Cape Cod Mall, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Starbucks, and other major retail outlets.

Hyannis also gives access to everything Cape Cod! The King’s Highway (Route 6A) boasts art galleries and antique outlets. Outdoor adventurers should not miss kayaking on Swan Creek or bike riding for miles on the Falmouth Shining Sea Trail, the Cape Cod Canal Trail and the Cape Cod Rail Trail. If music is your thing, don't miss the Melody Tent as well as all the local spots like O'Shae's, The Harvest Gallery Wine Bar, and The West End. Other favorite summer activities include mini-golf, whale watches, and seasonal festivals like the Bourne Scallop Festival, Heritage Museum and Gardens Hydrangea Festival, Wareham’s Cranberry Festival and Wellfleet's Oyster Festival.
