Spacious, luxurious, fabulous!
Edgartown Vacation Rental - ID 10972

My friend and I stayed at this beautiful home for a one week vacation and had a fabulous time. The house is so lovely with contemporary furnishings, air conditioning throughout, a gorgeous patio in the back, large screen television, music, etc. Just a short drive to the center of Edgartown, it was easy to go back and forth and a very short distance to both State beach and South Beach. One of the conveniences of renting through Elise and Michael is that they obtain the ferry tickets for you if you are bringing your car - so it's like one stop shopping. The house was spotless and during COVID, one wants this kind of care taken.

My friend and I would highly recommend this home to anyone who wants beautiful, comfortable surroundings. JG show more show less

My family of four stayed at this house in July. It was perfect in every way! Very clean, with beautifully renovated bathrooms and kitchen. The house is not only beautifully decorated but is very comfortable and ideally located — about 2 miles from Edgartown — and is either a quick car or bike ride to town. We stayed during a hot and humid spellI but were very comfortable inside due to a state-of-the-art, very quiet, split air conditioning systems in all the rooms, each with individual wireless remote controls (these are NOT window units). I agree with the preceding reviews extolling the virtues of this terrific house. We made good use of the brand new washing machine and dryer, as we did a lot of activities on the island, especially biking (which was phenomenal!) The house was very well provisioned (e.g. laundry and cleaning detergents, paper towels, food and garbage bags, etc. ). My kids even found new tubes of toothpaste in the bathroom drawer/cabinet when I ran out. How thoughtful! The owners are very responsive and easy to work with. It was a great family vacation house!

We've been renting on the island for over 12 years and this is our first time renting this property. I'll start with the positives.

The house is beautiful and very clean! The pictures don't do it justice as the home itself is tastefully decorated and includes gorgeous updated bathrooms (2.5 baths in all) and updated kitchen. It also includes all of the amenities you could ever want, including cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, etc.

The outdoor shower is new and also very nicely done and there's a nice patio off of the kitchen/living room which includes seating for 6 and a couple of lounge chairs and Adirondack chairs and a Weber grill.

There is a queen bedroom downstairs with an en suite bath (no closet in this bedroom but plenty of clothing storage), a much larger queen bedroom upstairs and another twin bedroom upstairs - these bedrooms share the upstairs bath. There's also a half bath downstairs.

Some of the negatives:

There is plenty of room for a dining table in the sitting area off the kitchen but the area is quite empty and the dining table is in the living room. Just found this to be a little odd.

While the home is located close to the fork in Edgartown (about a mile out) it is in a very wooded / remote area (and off of a 1-lane dirt road). We did not find the yard to be super inviting. The patio area is landscaped but the entrance to the home is very sandy/wooded. I wish there were more pictures of the outside of the home on the listing.

Both queen beds (which I think might be new) were very hard and uncomfortable.

Lastly I found the owners to be somewhat strict when it came down to payments. In this day and age e-payments are easiest and most do not have any fees (Venmo, Paypal, Pop Money just to name a few) yet Mike insisted on moving forward with personal checks. When our last payment was due, I woke up one morning to an email titled "Final payment? PLEASE RESPOND!" No other reminder was sent (which I found odd since we did receive a reminder for our first payment - and in previous rentals our final payment was always a month before the rental started). In any case, after a lot of back and forth, the final payment was deposited into their account 3-4 business days late via bank transfer - about the same amount of time it would've taken for a personal check to clear. Mike had asked us to send a personal check via FedEx overnight - but that would've cost us an additional $100 and we were already looking at a $200 penalty for late payment.

So while the home itself is very nice, there were a few hiccups that would probably have us look elsewhere for next year. And Mike was nice enough not to charge us the $200 late fee for our late final payment. show more show less

We have rented three separate homes from the owners over the years. We do not get to the Vineyard often, but we would return to this house again. The facilities within the home were excellent and well suited for a large family. There are three bedrooms (two upstairs and one on the first level). The owners are very accommodating, and the caretaker is very helpful.

This kitchen is open into a large family room. One can eat at the bar or outside. The dining room is adjacent and can easily hold eight people. The living room is very inviting. And there are ample games to play and television to watch in the event of inclement weather (we had none).

The house is located within a mile of the Edgartown business district. As is stated on other reviews, one is on a dirt road in excess of a half mile. We rode bikes from the house to State Beach, Edgartown and to friends who own a house in Oak Bluffs. We had them visit for dinner two times, and they found the property enchanting. I have been renting on the Vineyard in Edgartown for the last 10 years and this house by far was the best house I have stayed at! House is modern with all the amenities you need for a great vacation home. We will be sure to return next year and rent again! The only thing I was upset about was leaving! If you decide to rent this house, you will not be disappointed!

The home was in phenomenal condition, beautifully decorated and well stocked... The property owners and the property caretaker were great. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again... We have been coming to the Vineyard for many years and truly believe we found a gem......

We have rented from these homeowners many times before, and each visit has been outstanding in every way. This is the first year we rented both of their properties (due to a growing family!) including #10972. This home is gorgeous! Every room is beautiful and spacious, the outdoor patio is a special place for family dinners, and the location is the perfect mix of private and quiet with convenient and close to town.

The homeowners have spared no expense with meticulous attention to detail to ensure a satisfying stay for the families lucky enough to find this place! They - and the on-island property manager - are a pleasure to work with, and we hope to spend many more vacation times in this beautiful home. show more show less

This is a wonderful home in a pleasant country neighborhood just a short walk (maybe 15 minutes along the road through the woods) into town. It's large, comfortably furnished, and is probably the most well-equipped vacation home we've ever stayed in. The kitchen is gorgeous and the deck outside is the perfect way to start/finish every day. If you're looking for solitude in a welcoming home, but want to be close enough to town to easily enjoy its delights, this would be the place for you. We were two (2) couples staying together and both large bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Neither of us felt like we were having to compromise on who stayed here. The only downside is the really rustic road you have to traverse to get there--it's a slow go with many potholes, but I guess you can also call this part of the home's charm. show more show less
