For many, Truro is that last stretch before getting to Provincetown. But, we think this “most rural town on the Cape” is the perfect spot to be near all the attractions of the Outer Cape while enjoying a world of your own. We hope you’ll make The Cottage at Jack Rabbit Farm your home base for a great get away – summer, fall, winter or spring. Your hosts Mark (owner) and Raymond (manager) are ready to welcome you, and your well-behaved pets, to this special place.
Nestled in the woods, but centrally located, the vintage cottage combines traditional charm with modern convenience. Guests often remark how livable the space is, with a roomy living and dining area, separate kitchen and three bedrooms. The recently renovated and well-equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and a large fridge, invites you to stock up and cook during your stay. A deck extends the living area for outdoor dining. From inside the cottage, every window looks out at leafy woodland views.
The living area has a couch and armchair, a TV with cable service – and the house has free Wi-Fi throughout. A couple of occasional chairs can be configured as you like. The dining room table seats up to 6 people in a pinch.
Three bedrooms sleep up to 5 people, and all are outfitted with quality linens. One bedroom has a double bed. Another bedroom has a twin bed. And, the third bedroom has two twin beds, which can also combine into a king, or you can collapse one twin under the other to make extra space. The bedrooms are small but very livable. Each one has a closet with hangers, and a full length mirror. The room with the double bed has a small desk.
The bathroom has a shower and tub, sink and shelving. It's a small room but quaint, clean and functional. And it comes equipped with high-quality bath and hand towels, and bath and hand soap.
One of the best things about The Cottage is the outside space. Surrounded by woods, it is private and peaceful. The deck has an outdoor dining table that can seat up to 6. There's a barbecue area with grill and preparation stand. Adirondack chairs and table make a relaxing nook in the side yard. And, just beyond, there is a hammock for swinging, reading or just gazing up through the canopy of leaves!
The Cottage is on Whitmanville Road, just off of Route 6, the main artery of the Cape. That means it's a cinch to get from your woodland hideaway to all the local attractions. The restaurants, galleries and shows of Provincetown are about a 10 minute drive away. Or you can catch the shuttle from the end of the street. At $2 each way, it's a cheap and carefree way to go. Wellfleet is just as close, heading the other direction.
Truro itself offers country living with a laid back pace, lots of elbow room, and exceptional scenic spots. The dramatic dunes of Longnook Beach are just two miles away – a short drive or a lovely walk, jog or bike ride. In fact, all 11 Truro town beaches are within 5 miles of The Cottage. We provide you with a signed form that allows you to rent a parking sticker at the Beach Office for all Truro beaches during your stay. There are a number of National Seashore beaches, and hiking and biking trails, in the area as well.
At The Cottage, you’re in the country, but just a stone’s throw away from lots of good eats and drinks. There’s a fish market, farm market, liquor store and Box Lunch sandwich shop at the end of the street. Other great local spots are: Savory & The Sweet Escape (pizza and home-made ice cream!, 1 mile), Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod (local wine, liquor and snacks in beautiful setting, 2 miles), Salty Market (country store, 2 miles), Captain’s Choice (casual dining, 2 miles), Montano’s (Italian restaurant, 3 miles), JAMS (sandwich shop, 2 miles), and Blackfish (one of the best restaurants on the Outer Cape, 2 miles).
We believe that a great visit begins well before you arrive. Please reach out to us with any questions as you make your plans. The Cottage gives you privacy and freedom to set your own pace, but we’re always available before and during your visit to help make sure you have a great stay in this special place.
